To come to the defense of Holy Men is a great act of honor and courage.
╚═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
Background
Within the Crown Isle of Regalia of the present year, under the hand of current Mercenary Commander Guy Delmotte, the Helerian Guard has passed their yearly approval to continue to perform their role within the city, serving as the watchful protectors of the Synod and the Sancella of Union, operating freely in their duty to defend the cause of Unionism and its most holy members.
Helerian Commander
The highest authority of the Helerian Guard, responsible for the deployment and functioning of the entire Helerian Guard and the Lancyon Order. Answers exclusively to the Supreme Reverend and the Emperor, though takes into consideration the opinions of the High Reverend and the collective voice of the Synod. Able to raise up Helerian Guards to knighthood as Helerian Knights with a two thirds majority vote from the Synod.
(NPC until someone obtains the School Leadership Permissions for the School of Lancyon. This is because the School of Lancyon is tied heavily to the Helerian Guard and so this is done to fit that narrative.)
Helerian Knight
The highest rank attainable for a Helerian Guard and only applicable to those of the School of Lancyon as a way to attain knighthood within the Sancella of Union. Considered to be the most elite and devout of the School of Lancyon, their knighthood is a testament to their dedication to the Unionist cause and defense of the Synod.
The knightly titles of the Helerian Guard are not recognized outside of the church body, as such, they do not gain any other benefits of the title. Rather, the title of Helerian Knight is more of an internal flex on other members than anything else.
Helerian Knights do not fall under Regalian Knight Law.
Helerian Guard (Lancyon)
The entry level to the Helerian Guard. Made up of members of the Lancyon Order, the typical path for those who graduate from the School of Lancyon with members constantly entering and leaving as the entry requirements are rather lax so long as the defense of the Sancella of Union and the Synod is maintained.
(Any character that is a graduate of the School of Lancyon can become a Helerian Guard at any time, but can also be removed from the Guard for actions that do not fit within the Helerian narrative. If your character is not pro-Unionism and pro-Synod to a degree then they should not join the Helerian Guard. You don't have to agree with the Synod, but you are expected to cooperate with them.)
Helerian Guard (Non-Lancyon)
The entry level of the Helerian Guard and highest rank attainable to those who do not belong to the School of Lancyon. They are tasked with guarding members of the Synod and defending the Unionist cause as directed by the Helerian Commander.
Altalar who were once members of the School of Altraves as well as former Skagger women of the Uglassjel Discipline who have converted to Unionism from their previous faiths are found to frequently enter the Helerian Guard. This is due to the spear techniques used by the School of Lancyon being comparable to their existing skills. Similarly, those who train in the School of Tyrian also join as the Helerian Guard is a natural advancement if they are incapable of becoming Imperial Guards.
Villiers-Eclaire Knight
Not a formal part of the Helerian Guard, but essentially lumped into them in name. They answer to the Synod directly rather than the Helerian Commander, functioning essentially as lapdogs to whatever schemes the Synod has while performing similar tasks to their Lancyon counterparts.
(Villiers-Eclaire knights will not be held to the Helerian structure, but can opt to if they wish. However, they must remember that they should actually answer to members of the Synod directly to avoid being ousted from their Order.)
The Helerian Guard is able to function under the expressed rights listed in the Noble House Guard Law. These rights are as follows.
- Nobility may have a House Guard utilizing half plate armor but no helmet and non-military grade weapons.
- The House Guard must defend the lives and keep safe the nobles they serve from harm.
- The House Guard may detain any attackers that attempt to harm the nobles they serve and transfer them to the Violet Order.
- The House Guard must act to defend, not to attack others. They may not draw swords for any reason but for defense of their noble patron.

As a final note, members of the School of Lancyon and the School of Villier-Eclaire gain automatic acceptance into the Helerian Guard, though they are still required to fill out an application and write out the IC letter requesting permission to join as a formality.
