    Amongst the rustle and bustle of the Regalian Crown Isle city, the loud clanging of steel on steel could be heard echoing through the streets closest to the Golden Willow Tavern. If one were to investigate such noises, they'd be greeted by the warmth of a roaring forge and the sight of large Regal purple and black banners with wolf life decorations dotting the fabrics and walls inside.

    The aging blacksmith inside turns towards the entrance and with a wry grin, rubs the bottom of his nose before starting.

    "Coen forges 'ere, if you 'ave the regals, we 'ave the tool of your trade. Jus' keep yer wits about ye and act cordially. This is the 'ouse Coen's place after all. We're even hirin' if you know your way around an anvil. Let me know what ye want and I'll 'ave a word with me gov'ner".

    Just a little history first. The Coen forges are widely regarded as some, if not the most highest quality of weaponry you can find this side of Farahdeen. Having boomed in Ceardia before its fall, the business grew exponentially after it arrived in Vultaro and soon after spread across the entire Archipelago. You're free to have known about the forges IC should your characters have come across them.

    The thread itself will act as both an OOC recruitment thread as well as an IC alternative to ordering your weapon or tool in game. However we endorse that you make your orders in game as a way to incite roleplay. You can be recruited as a member of staff here or in game (though dwarves are heavily looked down upon) though we'd prefer some In game roleplay. You can find the forge in game to the left hand side of the Black Antiques shop on the main road to the tavern. We sell both completely IC weapons (meaning there is no in game item) for IC regals or you could in fact purchase a weapon with In game regals with personalised lore and a booklet describing the weapon in detail as well as how it was constructed.

    [IMG]

    In regards to the Guild part, House Coen has established a guild of smiths, metallurgical and mining businesses which tie in closely with the Open Ocean Merchants Guild though will only specialise on representing the metalworkers of Regalia. Again, you can apply upon this thread to join or meet with one of the Coen's in game to discuss terms of trade alliance.

    Finally, please keep responses as IC as possible. Any OOC questions can be sent to me through forum pm or you can tag your response on this thread with [OOC] before your reply.

    Other than that, Happy roleplaying and hope you have fun with the concept.

    2 questions @BillyTheScroofy

    1: Are the real items we can buy, do they have a purple lore?
    2: I have heard that the forge is out of business atm is this true?

    @littleshep101
    1: No, they have an orange player lore.
    2: Officially not, but something happened with the Forge some time ago, find out IC what that is. The Forge itself is not suitable to be used at the moment, but if you need to meet Cedric Northwode, send me a PM either over the forums or in game.

    [OOC] Hello, Birkwood Smithing Company literally just started, and I know we can not compete, so, I would like, with your permission, to forge the weapons with Coen steel, part of the profit, will in turn, go to your family.

    @MaximusStark
    I would advise you to arrange this through IC means.
    Either send a letter or arrange a meeting with Warren Coen.

    We can do bronze for decorational purposes and ceremonial weapons.
    Bronze is usually casted, the edges may be forged.

    [OOC] @Henck

    Can you make and use damascus steel, not like the modern knock offs that claim to be the real thing, but the way these swords were actually made in the middle east?

    It has nothing to do with whether we can or not. Damascus Steel isn't Lore Compliant.

    There is the technique of so-called 'Viking' smithing, which is basically modern 'damast' steel. This is done by mixing high and low carbon steels. This however costs a lot more material and man-hours, with a quality slightly lower than late medieval steel. This will thus be more expensive, and I would only advise to use it for decorational purposes (also known as showing off).

    Edit: please ignore this until I get clarification of this being lore compliant. I was told Massivecraft smithing is the same as late medieval smithing, and this technique was still known at that time, but I am now unsure.

    Damascus Steel if in any way possible of being lore compliant would most likely only be able to be acquired by those within Farahdeen for its manner of manufacturing and its location of interest. While it is not impossible for the Coen Forgerys to most likely acquire the forging ability to make replicas of this style of weaponry it would still be a replica and not comparable to the real thing. The Qadir would have the easiest way of even coming close to something such as Damascus steel aside from the fact that Damascus is not a city within the Deserts of Farahdeen. Nor is there a family known as Damascus that does forging and creates steel to even just keep the name affiliated with the weapon. You could also simply just do a certain watery design to make it look like actual Damascus steel yet it not being Damascus steel at only, simply embroidered with the style that resembles it.

    *A tall, muscular man in a Virdian Order gambeson would walk into the Coen forge. Patiently, he would stand at the counter, until a man came from the back to serve him*

    Good day sir, I am looking to commission the creation of a longsword of the highest quality. Money is no object, and I need this sword to pierce plate like a knife to butter. I'm not very well versed with different metals, however, my father being a weapons merchant told me what to look for in a decent blade. So, what metal would you advise me to choose?

    The man behind the broken counter looked up from his paperwork as someone walked into the Forge. In reply, his hand moved to the side to gesture over the ravaged shop.
    "I cannot truly do much for you at the moment, we are currently busy with repairing this mess. I'll take your order, though."
    With that he took out a clean sheat of paper, beginning conversation with the client as he noted down various details.

    @Sparrow26
    Please create a forum PM with me to go over the details.

    Question: I have looked into the details of regalian law, and it seems that it is 100% unquestionably illegal to sell any metal armor, or any weapons more than a foot (I think) in length within the city limits. Does this mean that all of your weapons and armor sales occur outside the city, or do you ignore this law, or did you somehow obtain a permit? I looked into a permit but the officials I spoke with told me it was out of the question.

    I ask because my dwarvish character started a small forge in Regalia, but at the moment is limited to custom-made jewelry and would like to expand to steel crafting. Please let me know if you can help me navigate these laws at all.

    The business has sufficient permissions to sell weapons and armor.
    It is not illegal to own weapons and armor, only to have them in sight is against the law. Due to this, weapons can be sold without permissions. Sold weapons and names are closely documented, though, and if there is any suspicion around your character it is highly likely that you will not be allowed to buy a weapon in via this Forge.

    Edit: Misread the question. You obtain permits via William Coen.

    Would this forge happen to do more flashy, delicate weapons? Perhaps a Leutz-Epee?

    Question: Would the forge take on apprentices who wish to learn the craft? If so, what would the tuition fees be like and would they accept Nelfin, or only Ailor?

    Of course.
    Open for apprentices, yes! I think it would be a fun RP opportunity to find the other answers out IC through either William or Warren Coen.
