Answer: A brave face is something that he would try to put on in the face of fear, for he feels that allowing your enemy to see your fear would only make it worse. Internally, depending on the scale, he could feel anything from an increased wary to in absolutely extreme cases, outright panic. A collected approach is something he feels is necessary for dealing with fear, and in cases where he knows he stands no chance, ‘strategic retreats’ are in order. How would your character respond to experiencing Stress? Answer: Like many, he would start to break down gradually due to extreme stress over large periods of time. When approaching a problem that causes him a lot stress, he will try to break down something larger into many parts and gradually chip away at it. This however has an interesting effect of sometimes leading to him taking much more work onto himself and in term causing more stress. How would your character express feeling Happy? Answer: When feeling very happy, he will often try to share these feelings of merriment with those he considers family. He will do this in the hopes that he might infect others with his good mood. Other times, he can be much more private in his celebrations, and instead of telling everyone of his happiness he might just indulge himself on a glass of his favorite whiskey. How does your character view Law and Authorities? Answer: This character has a great respect for law and authority of the empire. Having military background himself, he holds a respect for general chain of command. He is someone who will follow the laws of the city and the empire, and generally do what he can to violates them. He understands the purpose of these laws, and how they are necessary to prevent chaos. In this essence, whilst within the city he will follow the laws and strive not to break them. He will also encourage those around him, when relevant, because How does your character feel about Races other than their own? Answer: He believes Ailor to be the dominant race and culture in Aloria, and as such he tends to view other, non human especially, races in somewhat of a negative light. This also varies from race to race, for example he has a much better opinion of the Sihndar than say the Songaskia. He views the Altalar as incompatible with Ailor society due to what he perceives as extreme arrogance, however acknowledges that they are useful for the moment when dealing with a common threat that must be destroyed, the Kathar. How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths? Answer: He is a staunch Unionist and will try to live his life in following the creeds. He looks down upon religions that aren’t it, and almost feels a sort of pity for Humanum that do not follow the Unionist faith. Some religions are worse than other, he absolutely abhors void worship that the Kathar practice and has a simmering distaste for the religion of the Sonaskia. How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world? Answer: As a follower of the Unionist Faith, he does not hold a favorable view of the arcane and magical world. He holds a distaste towards the void, and other magical effects that are corrupting in nature. He has come to the grudging acknowledgement that magic is part of this world. He views it as a threat and feels that more extensive countermeasures should be put in place to combat it. Other things however that might be magical he perceives as holy and a blessing. An example of this would be the dragon form of the Emperor Cedromar. How does your character feel towards their family? Answer: Whilst it may not be the traditional definition of family, he holds those he considers as such extremely close. Having watched them grow up in some cases, he privately considers them in essence family. He is someone willing to do almost anything to help protect and better his family. This being especially the case in recent times where what he views as threats have arose against it. What is your character's biggest insecurity? Answer: His biggest insecurity is a sense of worry about his own actions. Being an advisor to someone he holds very closely, he worries about whether or not his advice might back fire and cause harm. It is something that would severely impact his pride, as an advisor should he give advice that does more harm than good. This is an insecurity that leads him to at times overthink actions and second guess himself. What is your character the most proud of about themselves? Answer: The thing about himself that the takes the most pride in would be his own skills in martial areas. He is proud of past conflict and fights he has been apart off, and takes pride in the fact that he won in a good number of them and survived all of them. Being an advisor, he takes pride in his own position and pride in his work. This pride also means he will put his best effort into this work, so as to avoid failure and a blow to his pride. What motivates your character to move forward and better their life? Answer: Friends and family is a huge motivator to move forward and better his life and their lives. In recent times he has started to more closely re-connect with those he considers family to attempt to help them get through recent troubling times. Outside of this, being older in age he feels there is little he can do despite to notably progress skill wise. What is your character's biggest fear? Answer: The recent death of someone he was close to has reignited a fear of loosing those he considers friends and family. Adding to his own perceived failure in stopping the death of the person he held close, gives him a sense of severe guilt when thinking about it. Going off if his own guilt, somehow being the cause of the death of a close friend or family member is something he is especially afraid of. Life Story As a young boy he grew up and was raised in the city of Regalia itself, born in the year 257 AC. He was born to a family of relative wealth, his father being an officer and mother being the daughter of a generally well off merchant. He had little in the way of wants and generally lead a peaceful and rather uneventful childhood. He knew from an early he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and join the officer corps and generally join the Regalian Military. He eventually began his education to follow in the footsteps of his father starting at the age of sixteen. The Regalian Pessimism however, that had begun in 267 AC, hindered some prospects in a military career. Whilst he was able to finish a formal education and training by around age twenty, he saw little in the way of actual war and combat. Only a few minor deployments had taken place. He did however have a change in luck when he encountered a member of an at the time minor family, the house Rote. It is through this interaction that he soon wound up in Griptham in 277 AC serving as a tutor to the family’s children. This is where he remained for a time to teach them about marshall skills. It is here that the relation between him and the then six year old Leopold Rote began. He served as a tutor for the children and wound up as a general advisor for the family for the next nine years or so. The outbreak of the Chrysant War that would take place in the Spring of 286 AC, saw him exiting the service of the family after about nine years. Soon after returned to military service. He would return to serve then in a variety of different roles for the duration of the war until Regalia’s victory in the spring of 291 AC. After the war he remained in Hadar for about a year, as part of the occupation forces, then returned to the city of Regalia. He reconnected with family that he had hardly spoken with for many years, before departing once more to the fight during the Ranger Crisis of 295 AC. During this time he briefly reconnected with Leopold in Daen before they once again split paths after the war. After this war, he stayed in service being moved around as needed, also taking part in the subsequent Elven, First Songaskian, and Second Songaskian wars that followed. He speaks little of these wars and has otherwise remained in Regalia since 305 AC. Now at age 51, he seems otherwise content to simply live out the twilight years of his life but much can change.
