I'm an Elf in RP, and really, what language is Elvish supposed to be? I've been thinking about using classical Latin as a substitute, since I know it after taking to years worth of it. But, is it ok, or is there some official place to find what language it's supposed to be? I mainly thought about this after I left the Faction Rome(Not sure if it's still active or even 'alive'.), but really, I don't recall anything in the Lore about it.

The Elvish language in Massive is simply Tolkien Elvish, from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit. Many people on server confuse the Elven language on the server with Dendroqin, which is the equivalent of IRL Spanish, and was the language developed by the slaves of the old Elven Empire before it's demise (according to lore). Also, if you have any further inquiries, I would suggest consulting the Lore Q & A thread, as your question may have already been answered. If not, you could post a question for Roleplay or Lore Staff to answer.

Anyway, here is a good site for Tolkien Elvish phrases to use in RP: http://www.grey-company.org/Circle/language/phrase.htm

Hope this helped!

Instead of using actual Tolkien Elvish, most Roleplayers use (Elvish) before speaking.

My character is an elf and uses Spanish, I know that Daendroquin in not the elven language but many elves would speak it because the empire died along time ago so man elves would be living in human colonies with Daendroc that would speak Daendroquin.

As for the (elvish) way of speaking, I find this lazy. If you don't know two languages don't be bi-lingual in RP. Just like if you are not smart don't RP as a scholar. I don't know Spanish but I still use translate to make my character appear Spanish.

I agree. If you don't know spanish don't speak it. If you don't know Russian, well your probly gonna get cussed out by me in russian...

Edit: But on the other hand... if you do know russian you still may get cussed out in russian... ;)

Or an alternative: if you don't know Spanish/Russian/etc, why not learn it while you use it? Isn't that part of the joy of prolific writing? To discover and learn and research new things that you can use and abuse?

That's how I am with daendroque. I'm not fluent in Spanish but I know how it's usually structured. So translator is my best friend.

Massive helps me with my German GCSE with Alt Regalish. Don't think there's a GCSE in Elvish though...

Ew Elves. ;)

I use for example: TazeHD: "<Orcish> filthy Elf scum"

So I assume Doing SomeElfGuy: "<Elven> I like Flowers " will also work nicely :)
