"Shadow biosphere, hypothetical life-supporting system on Earth, consisting of microorganisms of unique or unusual molecular structure and biochemical properties and representing the possibility that life on Earth originated more than once. The unusual biochemical nature of theoretical shadow biosphere life-forms has led some scientists to describe these forms alternatively as "nonstandard," or "weird," life, distinguishing them from the known, or "standard," organisms—the entities that make up the known domains of standard life—Eukarya, Archaea, and Bacteria." ~Encyclopedia Britannica

The Clickers are an invisible threat. They seems to be some form of energy, located deep underground, but somehow alive. My theory is that the Clickers are energy-based lifeforms from the core of Aloria, what could be called a Shadow Biosphere.

What is the Shadow Biosphere? We're the Earth's first biosphere, a group of carbon-based life forms. However, life does not need to be carbon-based, but could be, instead, silicon-based, which would likely be similar to living rocks, or even energy-based lifeforms, which would be beings of pure energy (I.E. light, heat, etc.). The Shadow Biosphere is the theoretical second biosphere, located deep underground, potentially in the mantle of the Earth, or even the outer core.

Aloria could very well have a Shadow Biosphere, too. This is where I believe the Clickers are from. The Clickers would then be lifeforms based off of energy, more specifically light. They did not seem to emit any light, but could be made, instead, of non-visible wavelengths of light. We, as humans, cannot see light beyond the colors red through violet. Colors like infrared and ultraviolet, microwaves, x-rays, and more are completely invisible to humans. I suggest that the clickers are being made of infrared radiation, that being the light that is a slightly longer wavelength than red. They would be made of pure light, that we cannot see, and thus, to us, appear invisible.

So, these Clickers are from deep inside the liquid outer core of Aloria, made of infrared light. They were disturbed by the meteor impact, and so, they they came to the surface to investigate.

Anyways, what do you think?

But hey... That's just a Theory. A Massive theory! Thanks for reading!

Honestly I think the Clickers were intended be more void based. What you're thinking of is possible, but with the given lore it would be more plausible that the staff went for something based off of essences. Also, they were screaming about the Manathar the whole time, which are described as being led by a demonic host.

So if these things were from the void that wanted these supposed beings that may have connections to the void to return to them, all that does is remind me of Kathar, which, believe all dead things return to the Void. This might be true if their souls are corrupted by void essences, maybe notsomuch for everything else though, as there have been hints throughout the wiki that souls remain in some form after death, not all going to the same place.

-The Kathar believe that souls return to the void.
-The Unionists believe their Spirit will guide and protect them until the promise of paradise is achieved, (which might actually be possible due to what I think the Spirit might be.)
-I recall reading a long time ago that Lapis Luzali has magic cancelling properties, and that Altalar would place it on their dead family member's coffins to keep them from passing on. Although this was read a few years ago and the wiki has probably changed a lot since then.
-Undeadism is currently undergoing a rewrite, but I read before it was being rewritten that their souls are literally damaged by void essences. This may not necessarily mean they go to the void after their skull is crushed or whatnot, but I would imagine in whatever form of afterlife they go to they might have some trauma, as well as after becoming an undead.

At the risk of sounding controversial, I'd wager that they're based more on established server lore than on obscure and unrelated biochemistry theories that are well beyond the scientific understanding of every Alorian
