Place in the World

• Wesley stayed at a Goat Farm near Griptham with Leopold Rote for half a year, though now frequents whichever Inn will take him. He thrives off of what he can gain from the public and whatever mercenary or pro-bono work he can take on, still enjoying his previous interests from when he was a mere Half-Elf. The Altalar finally takes pride in his work and even if he didn't have to, he'd still crack cases to keep himself busy.

Family Details

• Wesley was brought up by a singular foster parent, a holy man of the Synod. He was born to Caden Crawford and the Arken of Justice, of whom have no siblings, and so Wesley has no cousins. He has never learned of his grandparents, though he has the potential for distant relatives.

Background Ambitions

• The bladesman primarily wants to save people. Whether that's through advice, offering them a helping hand, or punishing wrongs, he believes that what was so very nearly a wasteful existence should be devoted to the betterment of others. Even if that betterment comes at the end of a dotted line of a contract, he knows now that not everyone can be saved, and he shouldn't try to save everyone, as it ends up hurting more than it does saving.

Facial Features

• Wesley has what many might consider a conventionally attractive face. His relatively narrow eyes fit well against his smaller forehead, which compliments his relatively average lips. His nose is slightly upturned, and his cheekbones somewhat elevated, with the jawline sloping at a mediocre angle that leaves it looking soft. This makes him look slightly effeminate without any facial hair, though not enough to disparage gender; he merely has a softer face. Wesley's hair leans towards being curly, which he embraces by letting it fly free closer to the front of his head. The Existling often pulls his hair back and into a bun or ponytail depending on his mood, though purely so it doesn’t get in his way. Without any interference, it would be a dull dirty blonde, and it's current state does it justice. The right side of his face is marred by three pin-point sharp claw marks inflicted by Kamirah Naawi, which he hopes shows as a reminder of her childish impulses.

Body Build

• Despite living a life of crime and owing his trade to being able to beat people harder than others, Wesley finds himself in the lower boundaries of his weight. Malnutrition as a child took a hard grip on him, and as a result, his body-fat content is extremely low. What muscle he has developed is taut against his skin, giving him a sinewy yet filled-in definition. Wesley stands at a standard six foot four, which can be considered short for his Wesley heritage. His skin is an Altalar white, coated with blemishes and scars, all results of his life-long training. Wesley doesn’t trim his body hair in any comparable manner, so fair blonde hairs line his forearms, legs and pelvic area.

Fashion Sense

• Wesley wears what’s most readily available. He has next to no fashion sense, and so his attire is dictated by where he is. In the arid drylands of Dragenthal, he often wore an open-chested shirt and sashes that accentuated his features, though in the bitter west of the Crown Isle, he ops for a trench coat in vest. In no way are any of these acquired by legal means, and so the availability is often not by choice, but necessity.

• ◁✞▷ FEAR
  • Fear is a very intimate feeling for Wesley. He doesn't like to express it to people he hardly knows, and his arrogance, unwillingness to cooperate contribute to stoic response as a result. Due to his Xenophane beliefs, he reacts half as much as any mundane human should, though the pain still pressures him into cold sweats and grit teeth. The threat of pain on others is something that instils fear in him more than anything, and his first reaction is that of anger, followed by needless pleading. Wesley also has a small phobia of spiders, thanks to his experiences in the Crimson King's abode and other interactions.
• ◁✞▷ STRESS
  • Just as fear is first responded to with anger, so is stress. Usually taken out on inanimate objects in his immediate vicinity, stress is usually inflicted on him by way of failure or the triumph of those he considers unworthy. An arrogant personality leads Wesley to deny the fact he may have lost, and stress only serves to impede the rejection of such an idea. Physical ticks for it include biting his finger nails, aggressive attitude or actions, as well as self affirmation of his own ideals.
• ◁✞▷ HAPPINESS
  • Happiness is answered with an ill-fitting smile. Wesley's expression is usually either statuesque or wrought with stubborn anger, and as a result, a smile is a rare sight on his face. Happiness is reserved for his own personal machinations, keeping it stored until he's alone. There are certain instances in which overwhelming happiness occurs, however, which are officiated by physical contact with the nearest person to him and hollers or shouts of victory.
• ◁✞▷ LAW AND AUTHORITY
  • Law is not an absolute. The authorities in which that enact them are as such only following orders, and Wesley deeply understands this concept thanks to his small stint as a levy and mercenary. Case by case basis is necessary to create a non-partisan judgement, and so Wesley follows this out himself. Vigilante justice is the name of it, and while he doesn't dress it up, he hates that he thinks it's necessary. The system has failed him time and time again, and so he decided to take it into his own hands. This doesn't necessarily mean he blames those running it, though.
• ◁✞▷ RACES
  • Interracial hate is very specific to Wesley. He doesn't necessarily believe that all races can't escape their own nature, as he has done so many times before. Thusly he prides himself on an example, and sees those persons that align with his own ideals in a better light than others, as if they were to follow his methods, then they would escape their nature as well. As with his thoughts of justice and law, it's a very specific, case by case example, though he has a negative disposition towards Void-tainted races such as Kathar and Haat-Maraya.
• ◁✞▷ RELIGION
  • Wesley is beholden to no God or Spirit. He follows the sect of Xenophane, wherein the essences of the Exist and Void are seen as holy, and purports that the Spirit that the Regalian Empire follows comes from these dimensions. He believes these tenants to a smaller extent than when he was truly ascendant; Wesley knows that these Gods exist, and that they've had influence on the world, and so revers them for their power; yet refuses to worship them in the traditional sense, believing it has no meaning to these entities whether or not he's on his knees.
• ◁✞▷ ARCANE
  • Being exposed to the arcane himself has Wesley knowing that magic is a good thing for the world, used to serve man, not control it. It's true that these essences are the very foundation of what caused the Cataclysm; but they are just that, foundations. He believes it's what the individual picks to do with it, and that those who decide to do evil with it simply don't deserve it. As with his feelings about those of another race, it's what the individual decides to do, and those who he doesn't trust with it far outweigh those he does.
• ◁✞▷ FAMILY
  • Due to his upbringing in the church, Wesley feels that family can be dismantled with enough force of hatred behind it. His mother left his father because his father was unfaithful, and this also feeds into his idea of a cycle of violence. He believes that family is separate from friendship, that blood is given and water is chosen, and that he'd prefer to choose than to be given. As a result, creating a family of his own would require it to be with his best friend. Wesley has no immediate considerable feelings because most of his family is gone due to injustice, though lingering sorrow remains in its place.

  • Despite a proud and arrogant shell, Wesley's biggest insecurity is not failing himself, but failing someone he holds close. The exposition that he is not an all-powerful person who can save someone at the click of his fingers would dismantle him in ways he hasn't yet thought of. It's already happened in a way, though for it to come back on him like a ghost of the past would be much, much worse. It's likely that Wesley would falter and break under a weight of responsibility to someone else, which he holds in much higher esteem than his personal pride.

  • His heritage and his power. He'll never show that he loves the mother he never met to pieces, because it's pure illogical speculation. The fact that she happened to bless his father with him is something he can't put down to circumstance, but rather that his blood, that his father, was in some way chosen. If he were to name a specific accomplishment that he were proud of, then he'd struggle to put it to words.
• ◁✞▷ MOTIVATION
  • The idea of leaving the world better than he came into it. If he inflicts more pleasure than pain, more good than bad, more happiness than sadness, then he'll be able to go happy. The bigger the gap, the prouder he feels. Whilst he realises that he can't reach this ideal perfectly, that he'll have to hurt someone along the way, it doesn't stop him from reaching out towards the ideal he holds in his mind.

  • Wesley's insecurity is more than likely what would provoke the biggest reaction, though there is more than that hiding under the skin. His biggest fear is someone close to him finding out about his failures, that his image of a champion of the people is dismantled and destroyed. There is also a lingering ghost of his previous family haunting him, and another irrational fear that prods at him is that they may one day come back, even though he knows it to be impossible.

• Wesley believes his father to be an unstable man. Casssidy told him tall tales of Caden's vigilante acts as a slayer of common thieves, though many townsfolk talked of him in high regard. The Existling himself is unsure of which tale to believe, but one thing remains consistent; he's gone for good.

Holy Father Cassidy - Foster Father - NPC

• A zealot with a cause. Cassidy is the one who raised Wesley from ages four to eighteen, and while he looks back on these years with small fondness, he owes his life to Cassidy. Were it not for his intervention, he would’ve been left to fend for himself, which four year old Wesley was not particularly good at. A close friend of his family, Cassidy imprinted his religious fervor on Wesley, yet still encouraged him to find his own path in the world. Being raised under Cassidy’s roof meant that Wesley was tried and tested time and time again, Cassidy pushing him to become someone better than what he may have been born as; a demon.

Grevaris Zylmoira - A little more than Housemates - @MantaRey

• What started out as an innocent, awkward friendship with Grevaris has now become a reliant symbiotic relationship. When she met Wesley, he was only a lowly traveller, without a home or roof to call his own, yet she gave him one. They talked and doted on the awkwardness of others, those desperate for romance, despite never having indulged themselves. They clicked for a while, but Wesley's past came back to push him away, cutting off contact with her for a long period of time. Whilst he might have reconciled with her to some degree, it set him on a path to escape from what he once was.

Arwen'elda Tordove-Crawford - Anchor - @Katiesc

• Arwen and Wesley merely started out as Om'brosa and Wesley, two individuals pitted against each other from the moment they were born; Wesley a sewer-side vigilante that persecuted what he saw as unwarranted harm, and Om'brosa a Kathar insurgent intent on causing chaos. When Om'brosa used her linking muter to force Wesley into protecting her, the two of them both found each other spiralling into an unforeseen maelstrom of feelings and commonalities that pushed them further and further together; eventually resulting in their unofficial partnership. Wesley merely saw the soldier within her, that she was duty-bound to fulfil her quest, and while he strayed from helping her directly, he never failed to protect her from the dangers it drove her towards. On the precipice of the Manathar ascension, the two re-affirmed their vows and eventually Wesley asked for her sister's permission to marry. After they ascended to Xenophane, they changed their names to Arwen'elda and Wesley respectively; choosing to marry and cement the Xenophane tradition early into their new lives. Marriage hasn't settled them at all, and they continue their chaos-driven tag team partnership within Old Town and the sewers alike, relying on each other for strength and protection. They parted soon after Wesley left Regalia, and whilst he believes she may resent him for it, he believed they were always better apart than together.

• Only one man has ever given Wesley the confidence to fight whichever battle he finds himself in, as long as he stands by his side. After a chance meeting and forming the Accusers from the ashes of his father’s work, Wesley and Lathai went from beating thugs to kidnapping public figures and causing sewer-wide riots. They’ve gone up against Eldritch creatures from alien dimensions, men wishing to sacrifice more than they own for immortal powers, and the Holy City rife with deceit and politics. They survived it all.

Childhood | ✗ | [ 0 - 12 ] | Daemon Spawn

• Wesley Buchanan Crawford is born in the year two-hundred and forty-nine after Cataclysm on the twentieth of April as Revasaniael Gwyn’ichaer in the midst of a winter storm, to Caden Crawford and the Arken of Justice within the confines of the town of Fallkirk, in the lands of Dragenthal.
• Soon after his birth, Justice leaves them both for parts unknown. Caden speculates on the reasons for her leaving, and it tears away at him for a number of years whilst he tries to care for his infant Silven son. The pressures left on him soon build to a breaking point, leaving Wesley with a journal on the circumstances of his birth and the vigilante group he and Justice created together; The Accusers.
• Whilst Caden was certainly a driven man, he didn’t condemn his son to poverty and orphancy. He begged with Fallkirk’s ramshackle priest, Cassidy Callows; an old and weathered man that had seen much war and renounced it, to take on Wesley as his charge. Cassidy reluctantly accepted, and Caden walked out of his life just as quickly as he entered.
• Shortly after his induction into the church as a helper he was given a new name, one for his father rather than his mother; Wesley Buchanan Crawford. Due to misinformation about his eyes, Half-Blood heritage and general family circumstances, Wesley is constantly subjected to abuse that harbours delinquent behaviour. Fallkirk isn’t exactly a rich constituency, either, and so he often goes to bed hungry.

Teenage Years | ✗ | [ 13- 20 ] | Innocence Lost

• Almost as soon as Wesley can comprehend is he indoctrinated by Cassidy’s ideals. He’s taught the meaning of his blood and along with it how to wield a sword, instilled with the purpose of defying the expectations of his peers, proving he is not what they make him out to be. Merged with his delinquent tendencies does this only make him more and more violent, using it as an escape and deterrent from all who wished to denounce him. His one solace is maintaining the church garden, filled to the brim with Axford Maiden and Dragonflower.
• With Cassidy’s tutoring seared into his brain and the skill to wield a sword at a decent level, Wesley decides to focus his capacity for injury onto a useful levy. He leaves Fallkirk for the nearest recruiting station and spends nearly two years at war. His comrades don’t take to him easily, and he uses almost half the time trying to gain their trust.
• Given his disposition as a Half-Elf, Wesley is selected to be sent to the Regalian Informational Academy in San Girobalda to train as an undercover operative. He doesn't necessarily enjoy the time spent there, often taking to alcohol and other substances to pass the time between classes, though the tact and thrill he gained from being able to pry information straight from the mouths of those he faced gave him a certain taste for the venture.
• After these two years at war, Wesley meets a field medic named Lynette Raines towards the end of his tenure. He engages with her in a fit of curiosity, which soon turns into love. They’re made to engage in a shotgun wedding soon after with the circumstances. In the most memorable yet fastest six years of his life, Wesley establishes a family of four; himself, Lynette, and their two children-- Jack and Elizabeth.

Adulthood | ✗ | [ 20 - Present ] | Prince of Justice

• Even though he had done as Cassidy had drilled into him, proven to his peers and friends that he could be better than what he was made out to be, tragedy marched on regardless. In a set of horrific events did Wesley find his family taken from him, and unable to pursue the perpetrators.
• Wesley wanders the world. Contemplative of what had happened to his family, refusing to go back to the place of his birth and lacking direction forced him back onto Cassidy’s teachings. It takes him years to finally settle on at least staying in Corontium, bouncing between city to city and attempting to eradicate criminals on his own terms. Axford, Regalia and Vieux-Provence become his most frequently visited. He spends years establishing himself as an honest man, even sometimes convincing authorities to work with him, though more often than not ending up in their cells all the same.
• Eventually, Wesley’s affairs lead him to spend more time in Regalia than preferred. He ends up making lifelong friends, notably Lathai, Leufred du Triege and Hagmer. He enlists Lathai in order to establish a new order of Accusers for his use, works with Leufred to dole out justice on whomever they deemed deserving, and had his philosophy challenged by Hagmer’s incessant righteousness. With his hand in shepherding the Manathar to existence, he takes to the Xenophane, even becoming one himself-- shedding his Unionist skin to give himself to magic utterly and entirely. He marries Om’brosa Tordove, taking her name and committing himself completely.
• In perhaps a fit of irony, the pressures left on him soon build to a breaking point, leaving Om’brosa for parts unknown. The conflict dwelling on the matters of religion and morality becomes too much, and he settles with Leopold Rote in Griptham; a goat farm in the New Essalonian Colonies that became his home for an extended period of time.
• As he finally settles into life as a wayward farmer and general layabout, sipping whiskey and watching the sunset with Leopold, does Lathai enter back into his life. Spurred on by the stripping of his Manathar status, left wanting to learn more about the culture and heritage that he’d been given; that of an Altalar. Ol Lavei Fyror becomes their destination, and Wesley becomes culturally enlightened on some of the intricacies of Solvaan people. He finds the endeavour of the Avanthar endearing, and even admires the Cielothar somewhat for their pacifism.
• Reduced to baser instincts and the encouragement of his blood-brother, Wesley partakes in shedding Orc blood with Avanthar plainsmen. He even ends up becoming a Helloc, separated from Lathai and pseudo-forced into servitude. Though the Avanthar pay back some of his endeavours saving his life, Wesley decides to endeavour with the Capital once again. Given Da’mi, his Casecabillas Stallion, he sets off- Regalia bound.
• With renewed vigour does Wesley dawn on the Holy City once again, ready to atone for his past mistakes and end the morally corrupt as he knows it.
