_________Wan-Xia and Co. Luthiery_________ Founded in 308 AC, Wan-Xia and Co. Luthiery (formerly Wan-Xia's Musical Instruments) is interested in the business of string-instrument making, but are willing to branch out to other sorts of instruments. This includes making accessories and replacement parts for existing string instruments. Our company is hiring for all sorts of positions, for people of all talents. The following positions are hiring, including the skills needed and/or encouraged for working said positions: Luthiers- The people who put together and shape the wooden bodies of the instruments. They will be working with expensive wood types, like ebony, working on very fine scales, as well. Requires woodworking skill and String Instrument skills. Metal String Makers- Work on making steel strings for all sorts of instrument, from guitars to violins, cellos, and more. Requires Utility Metallurgy skills. Bonus skills include some sort of musical talent. Gut String Makers- This position sees the creation of old-fashioned gut strings. These strings are more fragile and are made of catgut, specially harvested from freshly slaughtered sheep and goats. These are used on older style instruments, as well as professional instruments. Required skill in leatherwork. Musical talent encouraged. Quality Assurance Testers- These are the people who finally test each part of the instrument. Requires perception skills along with Instrument Art. Bonuses include any of the proficiencies mentioned in other categories, as making fine adjustments can be very valuable. Store Attendants- They are on the sales floor ensuring customer happiness and satisfaction. People skills are required. Music skills are a huge bonus, as always, as customers like to speak to people who know what they're talking about. Bow Makers- These are the people who make the bows for our bowed string instruments. Potentially even more important than the instrument itself is a good bow! They will be working with Qussrakon horse hair to make the bows. Also included bow re-hairing. Requires Fabric Art or Fineweave Art, in addition to Wooden Art for the body of the bow. Music talent, as always, is a plus! Apprentices- No existing skills are needed for and apprenticeship, though could never hurt! Wan-Xia is willing to teach people the art of Luthiery for free, so long as people are willing to stick with it and potentially take it on as a career. Naturally, each position has its own requirements. The more skilled you are, the higher you are paid. Your work quality determines your salary. This is to encourage efficiency and quality. We are willing to make any sort of string instrument, from harpsichords, to lutes, to guitars, to erhus, to nyckelharpas, and anywhere else you can think of. Just give us your request, and if we can fulfill it, we'll gladly make it for you for the right price. We ask that you pay half the price on commission and half on delivery. Only way to get a refund is if we cannot complete your order in a timely fashion. We also have accessories available for purchase. This includes new tuning pegs, new strings, new bows (both concave and convex), and other replacement parts, among other things. Retunings are also offered. We currently do not have a storefront right now, but are looking to get one soon once we have more employees. Any requests can be sent to Wan-Xia, and will be delivered to your house, or assembled on site, depending on the request (keyboard instruments, for example).
Edited the thread to reflect the changes to metallurgy and finecraft. Luthiers and Woodworkers have been condensed into one job.
Added two new positions: Bow Makers and Apprentices! This means we are now taking on apprenticeships in Luthiery. Other apprenticeships will be offered as we gain more workers in various positions. Join if you want to use those newly found proficiency points for learning a trade! Wooden Art and the use of string instruments will be taught.
