Hello! I recently did a simple two question survey.

The questions were as follows:

Are you more of a factions player or a roleplayer?
  • Factions
  • Roleplay
  • 50/50
How often do you vote?
  • Everyday (of Almost)
  • A Few Times a Week
  • Once Every Couple of Weeks
  • Rarely
  • Never
The results for everyone were as follows:

Factions makes up from about a quarter to a third of the server, depending on where we lump 50/50 into. A little less than half of the populations votes a few times a week. A similar amount vote once every couple of weeks or less.

Let's see the breakdown by player-type:

Roleplayer Voting Rates:

Factions Players Voting Rates:

*Ignore the pop ups. I needed to use an external program and the snipping tool to make these graphs, since Google Docs did not allow (from what I saw) the creations of graphs by a certain response. Also, 50/50 players were placed in both charts.

Interpretation

From looking at the data, it would seem that factions players are more likely to vote more frequently. About 50% of roleplayers vote at least a few times a week. Factions players vote a fair bit over half in this category.

Other slices worth noting: A similar percentage of factions vs. roleplayers vote rarely. However, a considerably higher percentage of roleplayers never vote.

The reason for this statistics seems pretty simple: Factions players need the money more than roleplayers. In roleplay, all you need money for is buying houses and peoples' goods and services (I.E. Art, home decoration). In factions, materials are needed in bulk, and are a pain to gather yourself, especially common materials like sandstone, clay, and others.

What Should be Taken From This?

Factions players are significantly more likely to vote for the server on a regular basis. However, they make up a smaller percentage of the total population. It may be in the server's best interest to look into trying to retain more factions players that arrive on the server. Many people who join join for factions, but are unlikely to stay due to many reasons. Anyone on the Factions Community Discord will know that factions players are leaving frequently, particularly older factions players who have played for several years.

Another possibility is for getting roleplayers to vote more. This would be to increase the need for regals in Regalia. Perhaps things like fast travel could cost a small fee, so taking a carriage from Regalia to Rothburg or Hostesse could cost 5-20 regals, or a carriage to the other side of town could cost a few regals, too.

Overall, I just hope that this information can be used to make the server better for all. Have a Massive day!

Survey Bias is a thing. The graph of where players are from doesn't necessarily tell you how many factions or roleplayers there are. It tells you how many factions and roleplayers are willing to fill out a survey. Or how well that survey was advertised to different communities. https://stattrek.com/survey-research/survey-bias.aspx
That is very fair. However, from the numbers I've seen, the percentages don't seem too far off. The factions size seems a little small, but I don't feel it is overall too far off. Roleplay has a much bigger community due to the support it gets from the server.

but I don't feel it is overall too far off.

I appreciate what you've tried to do with this, but the sample size of both pools is far too small to draw the conclusions you've taken from this poll. Maybe it would be worth redoing the poll, advertising it ingame, discords and on the forums to ensure the largest and therefore most representative poll where you can draw your conclusions with data to fall back on.

I'll probably give it another go, soon.

Good data, but need more players, also what time of the week was this taken, faction pop seems to fluctuate at the weekend
