Religion: Unionism (7/10). ▸Personality and Abilities Expansion Spoiler: Expansion Personality First Paragraph: Valerie stands out from most of her noblewoman peers as a militaristic woman, yet not a warrior herself. She garbs herself in fine silks that pridefully display her colours. Her refined mannerisms intertwined with a sharp eye for human supremacy most easily regard her as a stickler to tradition. Staunchly supporting her house where she can rather than indulge on her own entertainment Valerie is best and easily described as a pragmatic and dutiful personality backed by her status as a state mage and Ravenstad on her sleeve. Second Paragraph: The horrible death her colleague suffered during her tenure as an Azure haunts her as an echo of the past. She feels a deep rooted hatred and perhaps fear that feeds an insecurity covered by her ambition to take control of magic. She loathes lack of control most and this shows in her domineering demeanor in even minor matters. While material wealth and possession does not concern her too much, her strong conscience and nature make her loathe the unknown and chance. Whatever she can claim for herself, she will not leave to fate. Third Paragraph: Valerie often feels alienated by her lack of confidantes or peers in her specific field. She regards other mages with distrust and unruly and is hard to befriend for most but she can air her more spontaneous and free spirit when not under any expectations. Especially after a bottle or two does Valerie become very talkative but she always keeps a certain distance in interactions. Her deeper hatred towards magic or controlling nature is something she is not easily found sharing. Those who do manage to bond with Valerie find her to be a loyal and honest friend to have, albeit a little too blunt for her own good. Fourth Paragraph: Valerie possesses strong sense of right and wrong that differentiate between right or wrong for the state. She tries to see the world not in grays and middle grounds but rather in absolutes. A strong Unionist at heart the only true dilemma she could face morally is serving the family more or the Empire at large. Unafraid to make sacrifices of others for the good of her goals, but also aware enough to be kind or sympathetic when she has the privilege to do so. Regardless of the situation, Valerie needs to make the decision herself and dislikes decisions being made without her input or outside of her control the most. ▸Life Story Childhood (1 - 16) Valerie was born to Constance Rosamund Ravenstad and Rolf Dalfin Ravenstad née Krier, 276 AC. Valerie grew up within the city of Vieux-Provence together with her older brothers Médard, Bastian and Erwald, whose company she enjoyed during her younger years. With no real father-figure, Valerie turned to her brothers for support. Their influence and lack of real parental oversight molded her interests to be more martial. With an interest in fencing and brawling the fact that Valerie was barred from a true martial career greatly tapered off that interest over the years. A closer bond with Bastian and Erwald was the result of the departure of Médard, after which she developed interests in activities like hunting. She later reluctantly resigns to her fate and aimed to become more proper and ladylike befitting a court. Throughout her childhood, she is both taught Statecraft Command and the Anglian language by a tutor from Anglia, as the Ravenstads at the time were involved with the Kades and the Imperial Court, making Anglian a necessity to speak. At the age of 8 the Magic Spark revealed itself, making the whole family, Valerie included, worry for her future. Her magic revealed itself to be a bird as young as herself, growing and developing with her throughout the years. The realisation of her ability made her willful to gain more control over power. It was in her eyes at least a chance to serve the State with her own blood and skill which made her adamant to foster her ability. Under scrutiny for her wish to become a better mage, the bond she had with family members was put to the test. After days of heated discussions with her mother, Valerie could finally leave for the Crown City. Teenage years (16 - 19) Upon arrival in the massive city of Regalia, Valerie sought a mentor in the mages of the Azure Order. Under controlled guidance, Valerie's anti-aberrant spellset developed. The bird that resembled and was her magic grew and developed with her. Valerie made one of the nearby estates her home together with a handful of servants and a house guard. With her dabbling into magic, she also studied the various topics of the Arcane, starting her studies in Essence Knowledge first. As her mother and her main reason not to pursue her early interests was now far away, Valerie slowly instigated her past avocations such as hunting once more, developing her skills with the bow further. Early adulthood (19 - 26) Day to day life ensued and Valerie officially joined the ranks of the Azure Order. By this time, the young lady was studying Artifact Knowledge to learn more about the effects of Magic. Although she had always been careful with Magic, the encounters she endured during her time at the Azure Order definitely shifted her opinion to one of more caution, awfully aware of how she fit in, or the lack thereof. As time passed, the young Ravenstad developed a resentment for the races who could so easily access, and abuse this Magic. For that reason she was set on getting in control. Her Magic would be a necessary evil in the grander scheme of things. Over the span of these years, she continued to study to expand her knowlegde and magical skill, particularly focusing on Arken Knowledge. She also attended the Regalian Diplomatic Academy, as well as the Regalian Statesman Academy to further prepare herself the best she could for life at court., and so she could prove her worth in serving the Empire. Adulthood (26 - now (Events in Regalia and Progressions)) Of course the Ravenstad would lend her aid to the newly established Azure Order, though it wasn't before long that this path shut down for her, making her search for a new goal. Throughout the months, she has made an effort with various individual to explore ruins of old, stumbling upon a Dragon Temple at one point. She eventually returned with her family to the Hinterlands after months of ups and downs such as the d'Ortonnaise ordeal, living a rather uneventful day to day life in her home country. After some time, it was decided a return to Regalia was due under the patriarchy of her older brother, Erwald. Valerie got herself more involved with fashion and fleeting scholarly efforts. When the Mist hit Anglia, Valerie, as many others, put in her efforts to somehow solve the unsolvable. She was there at the day of salvation, preventing the airships they had deployed from fatally crashing to the earth. Unfortunately she had to say goodbye to her close ones with the majority of her family moving yet again back to the Hinterlands. But before Erwald had gone, an all too sudden marriage was arranged with one Leufred du Brierüst, bringing quite the change to the woman's day to day life. Valerie has recently joined up with the Greywitch Chapter of the Violet Order and now lends her skills to this group. Valerie Ravenstad became Valerie du Brierüst, after marrying Leufred du Brierüst. During this time, she decided to immerse herself in her husband's world, and so picked up Archblood Knowledge. Appointed Secretary for the Magi, along with two others, marked a new chapter in her life. However, with the restructuring of the government her position was nullified, which gave Valerie the opportunity to focus more on her work as a guard and some past times, such as fashion and music. As in the meantime Leufred's and Valerie's child had been born, she decided to take a step back momentarily, to focus on her family. After the time of struggle as part of House du Brierüst, she divorced Leufred and was adopted into the Howlester family (along with her child) as Rodderick's sister. She continued her guard work staunchly, happy to focus her attention elsewhere. Recently, she reunited with Leufred after his return, after which they were both adopted into the Bancroft family.
