~ A miniature dungeon adventure ~ "For centuries, a single entity has ruled over the realm of Oiros. Predominantly ruled by an assembly of powerful clans, the people of Oiros are all devout worshipers of this entity, known simply as The Stag Lord. It is he who is holy and almighty that truly reigns supreme over Oiros, respected across the entirety of the continent. As a demand of worship for their god-king, The Stag Lord demands yearly tribute from the clans. In what is known as the most honorable and most celebrated event of each year, the Stag Lord drafts a warrior from each clan to face the Challenge of the Stag. Here, the warriors selected from every clan must work in unison to solve the puzzle. The task is simple. The party must enter the Realm of the Stag Lord, a gargantuan cavern which no man has never ventured in, save for those convocated by the Lord himself. The only problem is, none of the warriors drafted have ever lived to tell the tale. Despite the grim fate of all those ever selected, the Challenge of the Stag is an event of utmost importance and praise within Oiros. For a warrior of a clan, there is no higher honor than to give your life to the Challenge of the Stag. Those who are taken are often celebrated for the rest of history, their families enjoying a dynasty of wealth and reverence as well." From an altar placed high in the Chasm of Audiences, an old priest slams the book he was reading from shut. He glanced from side to side at the assembly of clans situated in the chasm, a wide grin manifesting over his lips. He raised his fist, and held it in suspense dramatically over the chasm, looking down at every man and woman below. As if it were some sort of unwritten universal law, each member of their respective clan sent out their arms to link up with the clan member adjacent to themselves, everyone placing an arm around the next person's shoulder, until vast lines of shouldered clan members filled the entirety of the chasm. In a painfully slow act of unison, each line began to sway to the right, and then slowly towards the left, until, in an echoing bang, the priest slammed his fist down over the book, emanating a massive 'pound' sound throughout all of the chasm. The big sound was simultaneously amplified by each and every member of the clans stomping their foot onto the ground at the exact same time as the priest slammed his fist. As the lines of clans swayed from side to side, the priest continued to slam his fist, acting as the orchestral coordinator for the stomps of those below. At the very front of the audience, a wicked looking shaman began to wail in a melodic hum, which then every person in the room began to mimic. The hum was slow, and low, but gradually increased in pitch and volume much in the same way that the priest's fist began to slam faster and faster, serenading the chasm in a melody of coordinated percussion and harmonious humming, until it got much too fast for everyone to be capable of following. Then, the last slam. "Let the Challenge of the Stag... Begin!" The man raised both of his arms, and in an instant, the entirety of the Chasm exploded with cheers, yelling, the sounds of drums and parading, the architecture of the valley making sure to echo each and every sound loudly and about.
