While relative peace had swept over the Regalian Capital, the same could not be said at the Elven Moor Warfront. Plagued by two defeats in a row and with an enemy army quickly approaching from multiple sides, it was time for the Empire’s Generals to spring back into action. In the last few weeks, the Imperial Marshal along with a retinue of other Generals of some notoriety engaged in negotiation talks with the major Dwarven Holds and the Altalar Princes which resulted in more specialized troops from both parties being deployed in order to bolster the major Regalian Host in an effort to eradicate their common enemy and assist their newfound Regalian allies. With additional numbers in tow, the Regalian Generals set about fortifying their position in ensuring that Merkars’arh would not fall to Kathar invaders while they stood it’s staunch defender. First and foremost however, the Wolond force hiding within the Jungles to the west had to be dealt with, a task fearlessly taken up by the young and inexperienced General Reimar Typhonus himself, backed by notable Field Commanders Elros Typhonus, Klaus Typhonus, Leufred du Brierust and Leopold Rote.

The Typhonus Army, assisted with direction from Field Marshal Dietrich von Drachenburg, set out before midday toward the road to Lurlavan, the Kathar occupied Altalar City that the Regalian Army had attempted to take a couple months prior and failed to capture. Using the same roadway that the Harhold retinue had forced before, they began their advance. Surprisingly enough, the roadway was large enough to support the Typhonus Army of 12,000, though still boxed them in for any ambush attempts by the Wolond. Nevertheless, the Typhonus Field General reasoned that if the Wolond forces could be bled out of the Jungle, their numbers could be significantly reduced. For this reason the Typhonus General comprised his vanguard of a unit of Dwarven Sappers, a unit of Dwarven House Carls and a unit of Tenpenny soldiers. The Dwarves were a hardy bunch, used to fighting ambushers within their holds so no doubt they’d hold up well with the fighting style that the Wolond exercised. Every soldier held their breath as they entered the fray of the jungle, having had adequate time to acquaint themselves with the horror stories of what had happened to their brothers-in-arms during the last skirmish that had happened in the area. As expected, all was quiet. Too quiet for what was expected. Elros and Klaus Typhonus gave each other a knowing look. It was most certainly an ambush. In mutters, Elros and Klaus sent orders down the lines and to the Dwarven Sappers to prepare themselves.

And not a moment too soon it would have seemed. As the order was relayed, the high pitch screeching of dozens of Wolond Ambushers lept from atop the jungle trees upon the Regalian soldiers below. As expected and planned by the Typhonus and von Drachenburg Generals, the Dwarven Sappers managed to counter the majority of the ambushers, necessitating them into melee combat with the Tenpenny troops and the Dwarven House Carls. Now was the time for the plan to go into action. As more and more of the Wolond appeared from the trees and underbrush, Elros Typhonus lifted his arming sword, signalling for the flanking maneuver to begin. 500 Tenpenny troops rallied to his side despite him not having a single inkling of Front-Line Command knowledge, likely having been pressured to follow his command by the General himself, along with notable Regalians Saabira Zakaria, Bel-Gyarhyabrin Tibaerthus and Hagmer, a Manathar. This notable force began breaking away from the larger Typhonus Army to the left, breaching the treeline for a number of minutes before flanking the collecting Wolond force and encircled them. The Regalian Force immediately began cutting down their Wolond Attackers.

Elros Typhonus, as leader of the flanking regiment was the first to strike, his arming sword and dagger combo making light work of a number of Wolond warriors in little time at all, all while allowing him to keep barking commands which his men followed. His fighting style and technique was something to be marveled at, and it truly inspired those behind him, despite having no experience in front-line command. Following Elros's lead, Saabira Zakaria, Hagmer and Bel-Gyarhyabrin Tibaerthus rushed into the fray. However, their Commander may have been good with a sword but was less so with command. Saabira Zakaria was the first to fall, with a nasty cut to her side. Her wound, while not being life threatening was enough for her to be pulled from the battle, blood smearing her armor as she was dragged off. Hagmer, the Manathar, performed surprisingly well, decimating the Wolond that had turned to fight back against the flank, using his significant size and Manathar abilities, claws and teeth against his Kathar attackers, absolutely tearing the less armored Wolond to shreds. While the Manathar of the group had performed well, Bel-Gyarhyabrin Tibaerthus performed less so. He followed Elros's commands to the very letter, however soon found himself split away from the Tenpenny forces under the Typhonus's command and ruthlessly stabbed with spears. If not for the intervention of Elros himself, the man surely would have perished, but nonetheless, his wounds would certainly leave him incapable of performing even the most trivial of tasks for a week or two.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, the other Field Commander's went about routing the Wolond out for a fairer and easier battle. Seraphina von der Ebene and Leufred du Brierust combined forces in order to hold the right hand column, alongside Eleonora du Kirsch, Azelloa Hallevandeia, Leironse Jacyrin, Aeawyn Iltavyn and Valarosta Baal'ial. In keeping with Seraphina von der Ebene's usual repertoire, her leadership was sublime, rivaled only by her combat skill as she held the line with swift and true strikes to her foes. Leufred performed much, much less well, having taken throwing spears to both shoulders and his abdomen, toppling him over and out of the fight in immense pain which would most certainly prevent him from doing any sort of strenuous activity for a week and a half. Eleonora du Kirsch and Azelloa Hallevandeia took over for their Greywitch commander, holding their part of the line though both also taking wounds for their effort. While Azelloa took moderate scratches and cuts, Eleonora full on was smashed to the floor in a flurry of stabs which left her clinging on for dear life until being dragged out with puncture wounds to her back. Making up for their fallen comrades, Greywitches Aeawyn Iltavyn and Leironse Jacyrin fought back the Wolond that threatened to push forward, holding the line where others had failed and forcing a large majority of the Wolond Skirmishers to retreat back into the trees. Despite their immaculate performance, they were all out shined by the Manathar Valarosta Baal'ial whom single handedly decimated a squadron of Wolond with nothing but daggers and her swiftness. Her combat prowess would be noticed by even the Regalian Generals for its impressive contribution to the battle.

The battle raged on for another hour, each Wolond attack squadron being forced back time and time again by the Regalian Host. Field Marshal von Drachenburg and Field General Typhonus gave their final command, to fully push the Wolond into a scatter, having discerned that the Wolond had not a chance of succeeding. Leading the final assault, Klaus Typhonus and Leopold Rote rallied the rest of the notable soldiers under their command. With weapons raised and blood spilling around them, Klaus Typhonus, Leopold Rote, Lida Bermot, Locke Hallevandeia, Rhoen Rhylovhas, Yasuke and Javier Mariano made their final stand in splintering off the remainder of the Wolond attack. Much akin to his fellow Typhonus, Klaus performed almost as well, managing to hold his segment of the column with reasonable tact while others did most of the fighting. Lida Bermot, Leopold Rote and Locke Hallevandeia however stole any spotlight the Typhonus might have had however, the three having collectively teamed together to subvert a last ditch attempt by the Wolond to remove some of the higher ranking Regalian officers from the war, effectively sacrificing themselves in the process. Leopold and Lida defended Locke, all the while he went toe to toe with blade against spear with the assassins, decapitating two and finishing the last three with skillful blows to the chest. No doubt he would be noted for his combat prowess alongside Aeawyn, Elros, Valarosta and Seraphina for his contribution to the battle. Elsewhere down the line, Yasuke and Javier Mariano continued to fight the now retreating force. Javier performed well but not well enough to be noted for any significant contribution, while Yasuke took light wounds in his attempt to cut down any fleeing Wolond in his wake. While the battle looked to be won, there was one outlier soldier that seemed lost amongst the chaos. Rhoen Rhylovhas, younger brother to the now battle hardened Asher Rhylovhas glanced around, calling for his older brother who was nowhere to be found. By now it had become clear that he had signed up under the wrong General, and thus was separated from his military inclined brother, leaving him out in the open. Although the Regalians were now fighting an already won battle, the Wolond Dread Loyalists were determined to fight to the bitter end, and this Altalar magic support specialist seemed right for the picking. Descending upon him, all Rhoen could do was scream out for his brother as countless Wolond skirmishers decorated his body with stab wounds, spearing his chest like a pin cushion. His pleas for help came too late, blood gushing from his mouth and nose. "Asher.. Asher he--" he'd cry out to no avail, a white haze overcoming his eyes before succumbing to his wounds in the jungle mud. His body would be returned to Merkars'arh along with the other dead at the end of the battle.

The Regalian force cheered out as the last of the Wolond guerrilla force fled back into the trees. By the time all was over, both Generals von Drachenburg and Typhonus would realize that their force had pushed far greater into the jungle than once was planned, with Lurlavan in sight only a couple miles away, and with adequate ground now covered to bring a larger force through the jungle. Remarkably, despite the Typhonus General's limited experience, he managed to do what three older and more seasoned Generals could not. von Drachenburg held a smirk to his lips while Reimar called for the army to begin falling back. There would be no siege today, but the ground was set for one, certainly. No doubt this victory was much needed after two consecutive losses, which now opened another avenue for the Regalian force down the line. Of the 2,000 Dwarves and 10,000 Ailor army, not even three hundred lay dead, while the Kathar's 10,000 Army had suffered losses of at least a couple thousand. Today was a good day to be Regalian.

Raising his head to the news he stood up out of his throne, his left and right hand guards flanked his walk to the armoire which kept his battle regalia. He donned his circlet in place of his headpiece.

"Return unto Glory, Regalian Conquerers. I shall rejoin the fight - as agreed, General Typhonus."

"Operation Bushmaster has concluded" The Field Marshal remarked to the Field General leading the command, hearing the Typhonus regulars start humming a familiar tune...

LIDA : Laughed around the campsite about their prior situation of the mosh of green inferno that surrounded them, slowly wiping off a fresh sweat on her brow as she moved closer to the center of the surrounding tents. She spoke in Alt-Regalian, offering a pleasant and alive look for Leopold as she stated standing. Maybe it was the heat but she sounded a bit different from before on the boat. "It's so hot in these jungles, Almost makes you forget about it during these damn charges Phehe. I won't forget the look of that one you decided to gore. Got a good handling of that sword of yours." she finally sat down taking a sip of water, using her arm to wipe off her brow once again. @Optimalfriskies
