Her most notable injuries however include her single eye (the other of which is hidden under an eyepatch) and missing left hand which is replaced with a hook. - In her current form, Suyin is a lithe but still slightly curvy woman, with short black hair with streaks of white in it, which is generally tied into a bun. She has shrewd eyes and a stiff upper lip, though she has a nice if thin smile in the rare event that she does. She often wears drab and cheap clothing, often in darker colours, like browns, blacks, and greys. She stand's at around 5’6. - In the Red Panda form they have a lot more fur, but it is dark red with bits of white, and still has patches where scarring is visible and doesn’t allow for hair to grow. They are also a lot pudgier in this form. In the Peacock and Crane form they look even thinner, having ghostly white feathers and black dots all over them, though oddly enough many of their scars aren’t as visible in this form. In their Lá Wolf form they are still very lithe, taking on a Fennec Fox-esc appearance in their Lá Wolf form, or a Doe-like appearance in their Qilin, with thin silver fur with white patches, and still many patches where hair cannot grow. In their Loong Dragon form they are just as lithe as the other forms, but their scales are scattered randomly across their body, often looking patchy due to their many scars. Life Story - Suyin grew up in Regalia wanting to be like both her parents - a doctor or a writer - OR a writer, something she enjoyed a lot, writing down all her discoveries around the city and with her parents at work. - Things went wrong as her mother and father were deemed traitors to the Empire for helping an injured person who had assassinated a high ranking noble, and were to die with Suyin being forced to flee, and not wanting to go to an orphanage, went to the streets. - During her time in the gutters she became bitter and cruel, like Regalia and the world as she thought, doing many things to survive including stealing and other, worse crimes which she began to enjoy, as it spat in the face of the Empire and it's laws that slew her parents. - As her scores grew greater and greater, she gained the attention of multiple gangs and began working with them to gain more cash, with things going very wrong, her being captured, and for what her and her allies did (and with her not snitching) she had her hand and eye removed, then being flogged, beaten and thrown to the streets, now being forced to survive again from square one. - With her new useless state she began to feel nothing but dread, though over time this feeling turned to a drive to become better than she was before. She now trains to become just as good as she was before if not better, while having slightly more empathy for those like herself who also suffered and still suffer due to the state of things, occasionally trying to help them out or steer them to be better than she was (and away from the Regalian state). Spoiler: Extended Life Story - Growing up Suyin knew nothing but the culture of Regalia and the Sihai. Her parents were both the children of immigrants who had lived their whole lives in the city. Her mother was a skilled doctor and their father was a builder, and so she saw all sorts growing up. From blood, to impressing buildings. She loved her life, loved her city, and loved her parents, and put all of that love into writing books and diaries (a thing she wanted to go into one day) and learning what her parents did so that, one day, she could grow up to be like them - a helper. One fateful night however, guards turned up at their house. They ordered her father to come with them, and while she hid, he went off. She waited for hours at their home, before venturing out to uncover what was going on. She uncovered both her parents on the stand outside Greygate, going to be hanged for treason. Her mother had, apparently, treated a man who had assassinated a noble, and her father had aided in helping them to sneak off afterwards. She tried to get to her parents in time but to no avail. The skinny child was nothing compared to the crowd booing, and talking amongst themselves. By the time she got to the front they were already hanging, and the next to swing was the assassin himself. She lay by Greygate the rest of the night crying, with many who knew who she was avoiding her, with some even spitting on her due to her relation to those who had betrayed the city. - In the following weeks the house was possessed by the Regalian Government and, not willing to go to some home, Suyin fled into the gutters not even going to visit the house. She prayed to her Gods, the Moon, anyone to save her parents and bring them back during this time of begging and sleeping rough, but to no avail. So from then on she became cynical, blaming the Gods and everyone else for being cruel. And if this world was cruel, then she would be cruel too. After that day she went onward to find her own way in the world, surviving as best she could and avoiding others, but often resorting to thieving, which got her caught often enough, forcing her to fight, flee or be captured. And on those events where she was captured, she was punished in worse and worse ways as time went on and on, like flogging and the breaking of fingers. But that just further cemented her hatred for figures of power, and she would often fix herself up and go back to her brutal work. Her resilience and continued work in the criminal field got her caught up in a lot of gang work from there, doing all sorts of bad business like bigger robberies and worse crimes. And she enjoyed working with them and earning money, especially if it was spitting in the face of those in power. But with bigger crimes came worse and worse punishments should she be caught. And one time, after being asked to rob a guard Lieutenant’s house as a message things went badly. A fight broke out, the guard got injured and more guards came, with her ending up arrested with the others abandoning her. - She was taken to the castle and, for her crimes, she was flogged and then had half of her left forearm and right eye taken from her, before being beaten unconscious and tossed back into the gutters. She was luckily saved in the end by Oldtown doctors, but her mind and lost limbs would never heal. She was turned away by many of her former contacts, being seen as useless. This made her go back to living off what she had remaining, and off of the petty crime she did as a child, but with a higher chance of failure due to her many injuries, lost limbs, and growing feeling of inadequacy. After a few years of living off of scraps once again and being forced to survive, she began to see more and more people, even children, living off of the streets like her. At first she just saw them as competitors and tried to dissuade or get rid of them. But upon seeing more and more of them finding an end becoming just as broken as her on the streets despite her doing her best to get rid of them, she realised that they were just like her. Broken things and people left to the gutters and broken by an uncaring world. - Not wanting to end up like them and giving up she began to retrain to go back to her former self, and even aspired to become better than that. While she trained however she began to notice that she helped people a little more. While she still was quite self-focused, seeing those in a similar way as her (both as a child or currently) filled her with memories of her own life of pain, betrayal and suffering. She began to realise that she was doing it to prevent people from failing where she had, while keeping them from the clutches of the city. As time went on she even took over an orphanage to take in kids, not that any really came, too quickly being swallowed up by the Alms House to become the mindless drones of the Regalian state. As such it usually just works as a place for her to sleep, train, and hideout. But as long as she at least helped some away from her path and the Regalian path, it would be enough to quell the pain somewhat, give her contacts in more areas, and give her time to keep focusing on herself.
