Assassin/Rogue/Thief HQ Idea
I've been thinking a lot about assassins, and you know what? The more I think about it, the more people argue that assassins are evil and can't be allowed in the perfect world of Regalia.
SO, with so many supporters I have decided to SOMEHOW, SOMEWHERE, create an island with no rules accept money. The island will be the perfect hideout for evil characters and will be somewhere far from Regalia.

This thread will be for the discussion of what the island will be, where it will be, rules, who's in charge, and how to make the island come to be.

I AM making this island, and it WILL be a fun rp experience for any who want to join in.

Haters will be happily accepted.
What is it?
The basic idea is a hideout HQ for sellswords, assassins, roques, bandits, and the like.
That sounds lame.
You know what's lamer? 'Bright and happy rainbows and sunshine everything is perfect' rp with no conflict.
Where would you even make it?
Somewhere with no rules. The rp would be done in conversations (on the forums).
Why not the sewers?
The what? Watch your language.
What do you mean by assassin?

Somebody who is trained to kill and kills for a reason, but doesn't just kill; they also pillage, pickpocket, cheat at games, assume fake identities for cons, etc. Assassins aren't invincible and may not be able to take on whole groups, but can be daunting to a single target (depending on the type of assassin). I generally mean assassin as trained to kill by stealthy means, much like sniping or poisoning a drink. Assassins usually (95% of the time-ish) don't do payed 'jobs', so they'll probably have to do a lot of pillaging, looting, and stealing; this, of course, is harder to do alone, which is why I came up with the idea of an assassin hq.
What about /those/ "assassins"
I will personally see to it that those "assassins" either fix their yip or get out.
This thread is for discussion of an rp group I'm hoping to throw together. Ideas are accepted. Please present what you have to say in a bit of an upfront manner; I'm not the brightest of people at 11:00pm.

Could also just. Make an underground section of the rogue island for assassins. Problem being that the coined term assassin is glorified and otherwise inflated by modern fiction such as assassin's creed. Medieval assassins were mostly just rogues and thugs, the actual profession of hired killer wasn't really a thing. That being said, don't mean there can't be a hidden rogue base under the rogue island.

Maybe you could try and get a sewer base in the sewers? : o
That place is basically the zone where Regalian Guards cannot patrol and will not. It's the hotspot for criminal roleplay, so that might be more fun then making an island.

Yeah, makes sense. The abundance of "assassin" characters I've seen is horrible. Thanks for your input, @MonMarty . :)

I've really thought about that, and if it comes to that I might have to do that. A legit hidden hq would be so much cooler, though.

You say Regalia is a perfect world with no conflict, that is very wrong. The longer you RP the more you will see that there is a dark side and there is conflict to be had.

Nkay, I didn't mean it in that such a way. The way I see it, most people create hero characters. Somebody has to the villain (not that there aren't any villains out there). I don't intend to be a huge villain, but maybe somebody worth fighting for all those heroes out there.

Most rp groups that last a long time are dedicated to "good", and that's 'good', but we need some of what has been deemed "bad".
I do enjoy a good hate, though.

Yeah... I think there needs to be a bigger "criminal underground".

There is quite a few villain characters out there. Just none with motivation. I see assassins, vampires and all matter of shady characters, but few do anything. The same goes with heroes. Half the people on the tavern can pull out a blade and fight for good. But few need to.

(By this I mean to ask if you've changed your mind)

I don't intend to do nothing, and I can assure you of that. There may be many "vampires" and "assassins", but I don't intend to be part of the group that, for the most part, doesn't even know what a talar is.

I am not opposed to this idea, just if that was unclear. I am just opposed to this idea promoting evil character that don't understand the roots of evilness.

Aaaaaah, okay. I completely understand that. As soon as I work out where this will be and get all the details worked out, I will personally interview every candidate for this group.
I'm sorry if I didn't understand what you meant earlier. I've roleplayed with people like that too many times, and I'm sure you have too.

I think ingame banks would be cool. Then we could have thieves who would pull of heists and then everyone would hear about it, guards would rush to the bank and the thief would come to a group like the one you suggested and boast about the money they just made

one of my characters is a thief and has been looking constantly for others to assist him in his endeavors. It could be interesting to see how this plays out :)

(COUGH COUGH) Villian.... (COUGH)

its hard to rp as a thief though because as soon as you do everyone goes ooc or says being a thief isn't lore compliant, yes some people believe that being a criminal isn't lore compliant

The Sewers are an excellent place for this to be. The Poor District, even though it is seldom used, is not actively patrolled by the guards. Perhaps something could be done to further isolate this district from the rest of the city in the future to make it easier to roleplay rogues in.

In terms of organizing thieves, why not a thieves guild? (btw if their is already one than that's new to me xD)

And I'd suggest it in the Poor District. This could also give some form of rp to the poor district that was not present prior. Just my two cents :3

This must happen OuO - Personally I'd think the poor district or somewhere hidden in the sewer would be more fitting, and settle with the reason why people beocme theives (mostly), poverty. Though the idea is great, a brotherhood and community of inept to adept theives and criminals - Let me know if you need any help in any way! ^-^

i wouldn't use the sewers, to many noobs and vampires, poor district is an excellent choice thou, if you don't count all the people calling the guards every 10 seconds, me and friends have a place on crown's rode thats pretty good though and im getting a smuggler hq do msg me if you want to help set that up

To accompany what Monmarty said about fictionalized medieval thieves and assassins versus reality, the majority of medieval thugs, vagabonds, and charlatans did so because they had to, and they were generally bottom-feeders of a city.

The idea of them traveling far away *from* Regalia, the most urbanized city and a hotspot for stealing from unsuspecting posh citizens, to reach a distant island with no other purpose than meeting with other thugs, seems a tad unrealistic.

I like the concept, and as a very "vulnerable" and easily mugged character I think the situations that this group could create would be fun to play out. I think those who have suggested the poor district have scratched the surface of the best way to carry something like this out.

EDIT: I meant from Regalia, not to Regalia. Important distinction

Hmm, I'd have to agree. The criminals present in Regalia would conflict with new arrivals from a said rouge base, though, that'd make for some interesting clashing.

Perhaps a gang war? That'd make things get really interesting.
