It was not till late morning that the Wodenstaff woke from slumber, having fallen asleep with the dawn's arrival. She laid in bed with warm surrounding her and found not a reason to remove herself from the quilts of her quarters that kept herself bundled up. The minutes ticked by and finally she called for a maid, the same one that counted as the midnight intruder that she'd pitched a letter opener at in fear. The chambermaid returned to the room in a jovial mood- speaking of the grand day ahead past the weekend. Klausmas. Yet Juliette paid it no mind, too set on commanding her servant to fetch her clothing.
The woman had a green silk dress pulled onto her- a gift from another noblewoman- which left her shoulders bare but she paid no mind to that either as it was a style many women in her childhood court wore. Her hair was brushed back and her stitches checked before the gown went overhead. The maid removed the bandages from the noble lady's face and fretted over the marks that would stick for a few days.
Powder brushed across Julie's skin as the blemishes were hidden- she was not patrolling today nor the next and wearing a bit of comestics would not be a bother. It was then suddenly that Juliette paused when she finally was helped to her feet.
"Wait." She spoke only, raising her left hand in a motion of pause. The maid lifted a ebony brow in waiting for her mistress' command. "Fetch me my wedding necklace, the silver one." The servant opened her mouth to question Juliette but the hard look in her eyes drew her to not bother.
She set across the room to the jewelry box of the Wodenstaff and opened it, brushing her fingers across the many items of wealth before finding the correct token. It was a silver chain and violet stone. Very few knew it's gifter, but the chambermaid did. Many times she had heard the regaling of Juliette's wedding when the woman had just become a widow.
The day had been cloudless and scalding hot as the bride and groom lead a parade of noblity from the Cathedral. While it was announced celebrations would continue at Balfort- the then home of the Wodenstaffs- a tap on the shoulder drew her attention away and to the near Northener who gifted her the box and piece inside. The simple but lovely necklace that she grew to favor due to its coloring of her born House.
The necklace was clicked nicely around the young woman's neck and she nodded in approval- staring at her reflection in the far mirror.
"If I am to help plan on how to stop the Dragon, I will show somehow I am not her victims' enemy." The woman said before she was lead slowly out of the room to rest in the lounge by the sunny window, where she sat with her knees pulled up to lean the book her older sister had sent her and rest her hand atop the old wedding gift between pages.
The moment she could walk without assistance, she would be damn sure to be out there and trying to save the gifter and those besides him. She refused to lose anymore she considered close enough to be family.
