The Seraph arrived on spaceships, carrying hundreds of seraph fetuses in stasis, each with a genetic neural link to the ship's AI systems. When these ships arrived on Aloria, the AI were launched in a satellite now known as the moon. All Seraph-descended races have the ability to interface with this AI and use the powerful alien technology to manipulate reality. This is why races like the Tigran are unable to cast, as they have no Seraph heritage. Some Seraph-related races lost this ability due to a lack of use, while some gained specific abilities like the Solang's mimicry and the Wolathar's wood-singing. Some non-Seraph related races gained the ability to cast "magic" through "magical" corruption. The phenomenon known as possession occurs when too much of this alien energy seeps into and contaminates living beings or objects.
