To many in Aloria, the disease released upon the world had become a begrudgingly routine part of life. The various races dealt with it as best they could, producing uncountable amounts of remedies and cures that never made progress in the eradication of Zerlo’s Illness. The Circci in particular suffered greatly, outwardly and internally. The rapid changes their bodies underwent fundamentally changed what they were; they could now reproduce, and were much more like Humans than any of them could bring themselves to admit. On an unseeable level, even the mentality of Circci changed. Their old forms were gone. They were now weakened, fragile, after enjoying 14 years of unparalleled agility and resilience. Many races enjoyed a blissful immunity to the Illness, whilst others, like Varran and Orcs, suffered many more effects than the Humans, who were accosted by agonizing skin conditions. However, hope soon appeared in the strangest of places, even if it did exclude the Circci. The disease simply stopped forcing itself upon the world and began to dissipate.

Across the many lands affected by Zerlo’s blight, symptoms miraculously vanished. Most were now free of the disease’s detriments, no longer suffering the various irritating effects. Some would remain under its spell, suffering from a lesser form of the affliction. Some felt the brunt of entirely new symptoms. For Ailor and Avanthar, the phantom pains could become permanent, although always brief, episodes. Brief episodes of vertigo in Chi’en-Ji had a chance to remain in place. The fingers of the Qadir saw the possibility of instances of numbness for brief periods of time. All species of the Songaskian people saw the chance of permanently swollen tongues. For those few Slizzar left in the world, their scales and morphed skin could be flaky, causing them to shed their skin excessively. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the skin of Maiar could grow incredibly rough while the Varran could lose large patches of their fur permanently. The Solang could lose their ability to mimic, forever, and the Wulong had the possibility of losing their tails to dystrophy and eventual necrosis. Finally, for the many Orcs of Aloria, the hallucinations that Zerlo’s Illness originally gave them could remain permanently. However, all of these aftereffects arbitrarily remained or infected people as the disease receded. The wealthy, the poor, the middle class, all could either keep these aftereffects or be completely cured.

But all was not sunshine and moonbeams for every race. For what Dakkar remained, their time above the surface of Aloria came to an end. Their retreat to Ellador was successful, but even that was not enough to protect them from Zerlo’s Illness, and their populations fled beneath the surface, back to their heated subterranean homeland Gana Eeshtar. Little was heard of them afterwards. The Dwarves and the Isldar were only vaguely aware of this, so caught up in their own conflict, and the wider repercussions of this apparent withdrawal were left to be explored later. At a similar time, it was discovered that the disease still remained indefinitely among the fauna of Aloria. Cuts or scratches from wild animals could cause a repeat affliction, the symptoms exactly matching those of the injured’s race in the original outbreak, but many assumed correctly that within another month, the symptoms would pass. Exploring and hunting now grew far more treacherous, but also drove up the price of independent mercenaries, particularly in Daendroc, of those races who remained unaffected for the entire incident.

The final race to be affected by the disease’s fade from the world was the Circci. In a manic fit, pairs came together, and then those pairs joined into large groups, suddenly drawn to each other in a drone like state, followed by their loyal Vissi. Acting on an instinct unknown and uncontrollable to them, they then began to cover themselves in Chrysalis. Layer after layer surrounded each and every member of this awoken race as they slowly were driven back into a slumber not unlike the one they had risen from following the Chrysant Wars. Across Aloria, clusters of the orange-yellow pods appeared in Circci homes. The Vissi, ever loyal servants, laid down upon the floor like dogs and waited. They did not attack those who tried to breach the pods because no one could. They were indestructible, only willing to open when the time was right and that time had not yet come. For now, the Circci slept, and the events transpiring inside their cocoons became unknowable.

    OOC Notes:
    • All characters who were infected are now cured of the disease as it fades from their body systems.
    • All players can now choose if the aftereffect remains for their infected characters.
    • All Circci characters must ceased to be roleplayed immediately for the duration of this event.
    • Any future cuts or blood-drawing injuries related to the fauna of Aloria have a chance to re-infect players for a month. The illness’ effects are all the same as are the aftereffects if selected.
    • Remember that this is a progression post and not an OOC announcement. All replies to this thread should be IC and compliant with the section rules.

Joan gazed around the once sickened slums, now filled with healthy people once more. Well as healthy as a slum dweller could be. She flinched simply thinking of it, scratching faintly at her skin. Why did the itching remain on her? Was it the unexisting Gods or the Spirit come to punish her for her sin? She shook her head, moving out of the wasteland slums and into the Regalian city, weaving about until she found what she was looking for- a darkened window.

No, against popular belief, she did not intend on raiding the empty house for supplies or food, but simply to gaze into the window. At her reflection that showed best in it's black glass. The woman slowly but surely pulled the brown and worn mask from her face, staring at herself. The leather fell from her fingertips to rest on her boots as she peered at her face, taking in the now scarred skin from excessive itching that still remained. She was less than average now, not even fitting the description of a low class Etosian. No, now she looked as ugly on the outside as she was on the inside.

"Well That was a waste of my damn time. I show the fault of them, and they just sit by an do nothing. Lazy dullards, the lot of them brother. I'll be down in a moment to have dinner and discuss your arrival in full. Walther, get me the rest of that goop."

"...Is that so? Well I can't really send for more of the stuff after the small outburst I made in the assembly. I suppose I'll have to manage as I did before with the scratching."

But he never had to deal with a repeated fate. For if by chance, the count's itchiness did not return when the alchemical remedy wore off. Nor did it come back the following morning. The only remnant that seemed to remain was a small pain near one of his many wounds sustained throughout the years. One sustained in his time as an inquisitor. The count could only suspect that the wound never fully healed, and so he would deal with the irritation the rest of his days.

But if that was the only thing he has to sustain after the whole ideal, he could deal with the stinging reminder of criminal sympathizers. One small pain hardly left a dent. It was like an irritant. A constant reminder. Motivation to keep fighting through the pains of fifty years.

Zilk sat in his cocoon, because that's all he could do for a few months until the next progression came out.

    Nadia Celyreos
The majority of Nadia's symptoms had subsided, obviously making her quite happy. But during the night she woke in the same pain she'd felt while subjected to the illness. She curled up in pain, letting out occasional soft sobs, "I thought this'd be gone.." The pain eventually subsided and she spent the rest of the night trying to get herself to accept that she would most likely have to cope with these pains for at least the foreseeable future.

Yx'tch fell into the frenzy of creating a pod next to Zilk's within the Covenant base. She sat there unmoving for the time being, perhaps her family members would expect a butterfly to emerge.

Ragnhild Ulfurtonn jumped with glee at the seemingly fading illness, only to be overcome with a sudden bout of pain, that once faded, would appear time and time again throughout the coming days, weeks, months.

R'chxta awoke with a strange urge. As the day progressed, R'chxta ran into another Circci who seemed to share this want, this need to commune. Within an a few minutes there were at least five of them, and they made their way, in almost an animalistic charge, into R'chxta's home. There, R'chxta and the other Circci, the two Vissi as well, wrapped themselves in the Chrysaslis, as onlookers outside simply thinking it was some sort of weird Circci ritual. Within a couple of minutes the seven were entirely encased. Non-Circci acquaintances would not immediately take notice of their sudden disappearance, however in the coming days they began to enter the house where they were encased. With the shock and crushing abandonment of their now in stasis friends, they simply vowed to keep the homes safe in the meantime while they slept.

Nobody would really know what R'chxta or the others had been thinking, at least not soon would they. Little did others know that they would have to keep these Circci safe, for quite a long, long time.

Ida looks to the waters after hearing the good news. Leaning against the railing she smiles up to the skies where the vast stars decorated it and peered down to them all. "That is one less thing to worry about." She mutters under her breath, sailing towards the war camps.

Solaine d'Vaud's sigh of relief at her symptoms fading was a large one. She was beyond relieved to have this void of an illness gone. "Humanity beat you once again, fate." She muttered, before heading to her bed to rest from the eventful weekend.

Tobie looked upon all these seemingly cured folk with scepticism, wondering what might have caused this disease to go away and questioning whether it would come back "And still, after doctors across the Archipelago have tried to cure this illness, it just dissapears." He burst out laughing at this, thinking of how many doctors must be baffled and angered at their wasted time about now.

Clementine would've peered up towards Tobie and only inquired quietly, "but how?" The Ithanian woman lowered her gave back towards the street, brows furrowed as she thought. How did it just vanish?

Ultimately, the contagion did not have much of an impact upon Beatrice's everyday life, as she had already somewhat detached herself from the rest of the world. She simply sighed in relief once she noticed others' symptoms fading, but only because she wouldn't have to wear that silly leather mask anymore.
Beatrice was completely unaware that for some, the symptoms would never fully fade.

A woman, in her thirties under the name of Aphen stared at the three graves in front of her in the yard of the dead. The short woman was clad mostly in darker colors, shivering slightly in the cold air despite how thick the cloth was. Releasing a shaking breath, she shifted around to retreat from the cemetery. “Spirits bless them. My only question is what dastardly being decided my own children were more worthy to die than I was,” She muttered to no one in particular.
Woopwoop, yay for being late at checking progressiooons.
