The Spread Of Blight

His Grace, Duke Cillian Mac Conall of Wickthur declares the following to all members of this Holy City

Blight has been discovered in the province of Shattel within the holdings of House du Saullevé. Reports so far suggest that the corruption has infiltrated stocks of parsnips, carrots and beets- however it cannot be ruled out that the corruption may have the ability to infiltrate the current harvest of wheat and barley.

Nothing has been heard so far from Lady du Saullevé in regards to the turmoil among her agrarian class. But this is not an issue that may effect her alone. I call upon all in this fine city and Empire proper, peasant, artisan, noble and soldier; consider the ramifications if this problem is permitted to linger and fester- to grow. We must stamp out this spark before it catches alight, to stop the problem at its source. While the esteemed Kade House of Trade has issued a statement that the blight has not been detected in Anglia- it cannot be left to chance, nor ignored any longer.

With the approval of the Head of Civics, Duke Cillian Mac Conall is establishing an adhoc committee dubbed the "Shattel Agricultural Support Committee". The function of this committee is to carry out the lobbying of different entities for donations, recruit and organise a small team of experts to travel to the region and further study the blight and to allocate financial and physical resources to eleviate the worst of the damage the blight has already done.

• To encourage; all residents of this city to pledge donations of regals, non-perishable foods or small-comforts to the Alms Ministry, to be held until such a time as an official body is established.
• To encourage; the Noble Houses of this Empire especially to call support or donate, due to their vast network of funding and resources which will undoubtedly make the most impact.
• To request; any academics knowledgeable in the fields of agriculture, horticulture or disease to make themselves known to the committee, so they may be aided in travelling to the region to further identify and study the properties of the blight.

The effects of a blight should it reach Anglia may be devastating. As it stands, all funding collected is to be used to compensate local farmers in the surrounding regions to pre-emptively burn their harvests. Finance will also be used to aid in the importing of much needed food into the region and to fund research missions to further identify and research the properties of the blight.
