The war in Rië would continue as many expected, with the first offensive committed by Kolton Typhonus, leading his 15,000 men to attack Fort Mal, this time supported by Lewis Heinrich's 20,000 men. With overbearing odds, these two armies safely capture Fort Mal, also freeing Darius Silevon in the process. After the capture of the fort, Lewis Heinrich embarked his army and sailed it north to Lusits, thus leaving Kolton Typhonus's army as the last Regalian military force on the Elven mainland.
Hamlin d'Vaud assisted by Benedict d'Vaud took charge of Ulfurtonn's army that refused to adhere to the commands of the female general staff, and led a siege against Fort Bal. The siege itself did not last long, with overbearing numbers they succeeded in securing posession of Fort Bal with minimal losses. With Fort Bal fallen, the entire island of Läe was in Regalian hands, though most if not all mainland occupation zones were lost.
Christopher Black's secret weapon tests fail on nearly all accounts as the secret ammunition is too unstable, too fragile, causing misfires in half the cases or fire leaking onto the sides of ships from cannon barrels, setting their own ships ablaze. One ship is lost in an inferno while some are damaged, though nothing the fleet cannot quickly repair.
Audrey d'Ortonnais leads an information mission to the Rië front. There, they establish that the sabotage in Admiral Black's fleet was done by Regalian Elements, while also uncovering that the surprise attack on the Typhonus detachment was led by a very quickly moving and ruthlessly efficient Avanthar cavalry brigade. Furthermore, they uncover that the main armed forces of Rië have targeted Kolton Typhonus's army at Fort Mal as the next target, bringing forth the assumption that they intend to repeat what they did on the Isle of Läe, and that similar numbers ought to be expected.
From the far east, finally some news, any news, from the war between the Emperor's legion and the Huon-ji. The information is spotty at best, most of it seemingly carried across the oceans by merchants and from hear say. Official documents proclaim that the Emperor is seeing success in the war against the Huon-ji and that the Ch'ien-ji are seriously considering joining the Crown Alliance due to his efforts. The latter is corroborated by the rumors and whispers of merchants, though the former is not. The Huon-ji appear to be far more sophisticated than originally presumed. Another rumor circulates that while he appears in stable health now, a recent battle saw the Emperor almost fatally wounded. Aside from that, the message is clear: The Regalians are intentionally preventing communication to occur between the legion and the Empire at home, so as to avoid undue panic in the capital, but also to ensure the soldiers on the Shen-Xi front remain focused on their task at hand.
Some news from Regalia also. Completely unexpectedly, consul Reddulf Ruyter resigned his post as Consul as well as his title of Rulfaerdamme, citing "loss of faith in his abilities to lead after the insurmountable loss of 25,000 Unionist souls". After resigning, his remaining troops were added to Krupp's standing army, while he himself was permitted to enter the Kade monastery of the thousand sword wall in Axford to contemplate his actions and future worth to the Imperial Spirit, thus leaving behind an empty Consul seat. The Imperial Prince intervened in any potential re-election, citing that a re-election so close to the planned re-election would be pointless, and that the seat should remain vacant until the 31st, at which the next Consular elections would take place.
