As I always say: If you feel that the weight of this is too much to handle, please leave. For those who think they can brave through, please continue as you have been warned.))
The rain would gently tap against the roof and windows of Connak's house on this dark and stormy night. Dwelling in the darkness alone, Connak would lay shirtless on his bed awake as ever with numerous thoughts racing through his mind. Some were questions while the rest were fragmented memories of his past. He'd let out a sigh and mumble to himself.
"Three dead spouses and no way to rebound from it. When did I die?" Connak mumbles when he thinks he is completely alone until a voice emerges from the darkness.
"I thought you died alone." The voice says.
"Perhaps I did, a long long time ago." Connak replies without a thought as he laid on his bed, keeping his eyes locked on the ceiling.
"My only question is how are you still alive if you died a long time ago?" The voice says before raising another question.
"Do you even know who I am Velruin?"
Connak would say as he sat up to face the voice. At that moment, Connak would see the person behind the voice.
"Who are you?"
"That is simple… I am a man who is trying to save a soul… your soul."
At those words, Connak would swiftly get up to grab his whip. He'd quickly crack it at where he thinks the voice is. With blind luck, Connak's whip wrapped around the voice's owner. The Sudail would then forcefully yank on his whip and a hooded figure would be pulled from the shadows.
"I'm gonna ask again. Who the fuck are you?" Connak would snarl as he put a foot on the figure's back.
"I am the one who's trying to help you." The figure would say. Unfortunate for him, Connak would crack the whip around his neck and start to choke the poor man. Connak would growl as he tightened the whip a little
"Velruin, please." The figure would beg with a strained voice as his face started to turn red.
"Then tell me who the bloody fuck you are." Connak would bark as he put a little more strain on the whip in order to force an answer.
"I am a simple man sent to help you." The figure would choke out.
At that moment, Connak would loosen his whip and let it unwrap from the figure's neck. The man would let out a cough and then speak.
"You're stronger than I expected Velruin." The figure would say as he tried to stand up. He'd come up unlucky since Connak pushed him back down and then growled.
"Stop calling me that. Now, who was the halfwit that sent you?"
"Your father."
Connak would scoff and then say, "My father is dead. Both of them."
"Your father isn't dead Velruin. He is very much alive. Now tell me, what is it that makes you lose your grip on reality?" The figure would ask, sounding as if he only wanted to help broken Sundial.
Connak would pull his foot off the figure and then started to speak.
"I lost another lover… and I know why. It's because I'm cursed to never be happy with a family of my own. Yes I have friends and yes I see them as family. But the family I want, is one that continues the Fayden name. It's been hard to move past his death and I constantly blame myself for his death. Say what you will, but I'm a waste of your time and effort. I'm a lost cause."
"You're not a lost cause Velruin. If anything, you are more than you think. You need to understand that you are not grieving anymore. You are blaming yourself over a force that can't be controlled. It's time you move on past your lovers death. Yes, you might be a little cursed but you can break this curse if you try. Not everyone is perfect, I- your father had similar problems and he almost brought his life to an end. Had it not been for me, you wouldn't be here. It's time for me to go now Velruin, just keep that chin up and remember that you are your own man. Carry whatever name you have with pride and raise a little hell."
The figure would get up and went down the ladder. Connak would watch as the figure left. He'd then coil up his whip before laying on his bed. He'd remain awake as he thought of three people he loved and lost. After a good five minutes, a long awaited smile would grow on his face and then a new thought came across his mind. The thought was about all the times he defied most of the odds against him. That alone was all the Sundial needed to hear in order to start the return to his old ways.

"They say when you lose a soulmate, you die internally. If that's the case, then I'm just a dead man walking."
