The atmosphere in the Nook felt an equal combination of both calm, but also a tad tiresome. It had long been emptied, the last patron taking their leave shortly after the other employees. Only Milo remained in the empty tavern behind the counter, clutching a bottle of sake. He tried to keep the amount of memories of certain events to a minimum. That way he would not have to worry about it crossing his mind.
But alas, certain ghosts of the past tend to revisit the Brood, reminding him of an old flame; one that he thought had been snuffed out, like a candle that had lost its flare. And along with the memories of the times spent in the past, of his crimson eye gazing into chocolate brown ones, where he thought he felt himself smile each time, he couldn't help but feel a small pang of sorrow spark within him.
They both have said it themselves. They've moved on. But along with that, the news of them "moving on" was a bit harder for both of them to grasp than they believed. "What is it that makes me get into situations such as these?" he asked himself. With a sigh, he lowered into a sit, leaning against the island counter behind him. He looked down to the cardinal red scarf he donned. As glad as he was to have it back, he could not help but feel reminded of that old flame, and surprisingly to him, still had the very faint smell of an Eriunin woman.
Shaking his head, he pushed himself up, vaulting over the counter to leave. It was late at night. Most if not all of Regalians were in their homes and likely asleep. He looked to the right. At the end of the street in that direction, someone was probably waiting for him. A new flame. Someone he definitely cared for; just as much as she cared for him. But at times, he felt that the torch on that old flame sometimes burned just as bright as this new one.
"I've dwelled in the past long enough for today." At that, he stepped off in that direction, the snow crunching beneath his feet, planning to at least try and get some rest. And hopefully put such memories to rest. For now, at least.
