House Gornjevski is a fairly small and old family of largely mixed descent - Mostly northern and Etosian though. The family's signature colors are red, gold and green, and it's best known for selling fur and jewelry in Regalia.
History
The history of the Gornjevski family dates back to the second century after the Cataclysm, when it was founded as the Gornjevski clan in the barren wilderness of southern Jorrhildr, in the lands that are now considered Ursula federacy. The origin of the family is unknown, though the name and language of the family suggests that it's origins are Novilyud. Only a few years after the clan has been established, it's members were defeated by the larger Jastrebovac tribe that was settled a few miles to the north. Most members of the clan were killed and eaten, except for those who were capable of work. Those people became slaves of the tribe and were forced to do the most difficult and unpleasant jobs. Their slavery, however, didn't last long as they got an option to escape after one of the raids of the Jastrebovac tribe. Their escape is mostly portrayed as a heroic battle by the members of the family, though that's actually far from truth and most people who are familiar with Gornjevskis are aware of that. After their escape, the remaining people of the clan travelled south to the Kingdom of Nordskag where they began the process of becoming what they are today.
After leaving Jorrhildr, the Gornjevski family gained some fortune by doing various jobs, from lumbering to sewing and knitting. With the money they gained, they soon started traveling around Nordskag and became merchants who were mostly selling furs. The oldest man that survived the slavery, Igor, became the head of the family and is now as well considered it's founder and most important ancestors, as he transformed his people from a brutal Northern clan to a civilised Alorian family. The Gornjevskis didn't settle in Nordskag for a long time and soon traveled the whole eastern shore of Daendroque landmass. However, they never settled for a period longer than a few years and soon left the continent. After Igor's death, the family patriarch became his oldest cousin, Vsevolod Gornjevski who travelled to Etosil with his family where he married Anastasia Argyris, a woman coming from a small family of jewellers. After the marriage, jewellery as well became the family's main job and took it's way ahead of fur trading, but that wasn't the only change. The previous religion of Old Gods ceased to exist in the family and gave it's place to Etosian Unionism.
After these events, the family remained in Etosil until Vsevolod's death, which followed less than a decade after the marriage. His daughter, Olga, who became the first matriarch of the family, did not feel familiar among Etosians and as well wanted to become influent, that's why she decided to move the family's home to the heart of Aloria, Regalian archipelago. Gornjevskis found a new in northern Drixagh where they worked as local jewellers and as well reestablished their job as fur traders due to a quite large amount of wild animals in Drixagh. After a few decades, the family gained quite a lot of wealth and created it's own barony of Grazhuvna under the local counts and dukes. In the end of the third century, the title of the patriarch was given to Nikolai Gornjevski, (son of Dmitry, who was Olga great grandson) and is the current head of the family.
Business, posessions and barony
The barony of Grazhuvna is a relatively small piece of land in the north of Drixagh. It's about 500 or 600 acres large, but not much of the land is actually used. In the north where it has contact with the sea, there's a small town, not much larger than a village, with about 300 inhabitants. There's a small wooden church in the middle of it and a decent-sized estate in the western part of the settlement built out of bricks. In the northern part of the town, there's docks that can house up to 3 or 4 not overly large cargo ships, although there are almost never that many in the town and the Gornjevskis currently only possess one vehicle that could be called a ship. In the southern part of the settlement, there's a mine that's used for gathering the more common minerals, such as amethyst and also silver, while other, rarer materials are mostly imported. The town area only presents about a third of the full barony area, while the rest is covered by pine forests which are used by Gornjevskis to hunt in.
Traits
Members of the family are often very wary of others, and think very highly of themselves. Way too highly, considering their greatest achievement is owning and leading a barony. They're all quite racist towards non-humans, and share very conservative views on the world.
Gornjevskis tend to have a fairly tall frame, as well as brown eyes and black hair. It's a family tradition for the men to grow and maintain a moustache, and not having one would be strongly looked down upon by other family members.
