Alessandra sat at home in her empty apartment, fingers drumming against the wooden desk she kept on the third floor. A glance to the right showed the old apartment she used to live in when she first arrived here, and the basement that she used to call her home. She was glad to get away from that place, even if it was only a block away. Finally, with a breath and a sigh, she unfurled the letter sent to her three days ago.

To the Recipient of this Letter,

I hope you find yourself in good health, we at [name illegible] pride ourselves in our work. As discussed on December 1st, 310, you wished for us to look into the disappearance of a Teledden named Arazoth. With the description to match and payment plans discussed on that day, we have sent out scouts to acquire evidence of foul play or other possibilities that may have happened.

Our scouts came across a small cabin in the woods, to which we think the gentleman may have stayed in at one point. We have evidence of a short-term living situation, including some butcher tools. We also discovered armor belonging to your brother, Adam, including his gauntlet, in a locked chest in a secret area by the fireplace. When poking through the ashes of the fireplace and heading outside around the rear, we discovered some charred bones that matched the general description of Adam. Along the wall closest to the fireplace, we discovered some faint traces of what appeared to a massive pool of blood, leading from the wall to the floorboards below.

In our best conclusion, it seems that these men crossed paths at one point and got into a fight. While we can’t say for certain what happened, we did not find the body of Arazoth, nor any of his belongings, leading us to think that they got into a fatal scuffle. With how much time has passed, there are little to no findings on the method of Adam’s perishment.

We at [name illegible] are deeply sorry for the loss of your brother, as the case has run cold for nearly four months with no signs of Arazoth, we have to mark the case as cold. We are dismissing the case with prejudice, under the context that Arazoth committed a homicide. We encourage you to file to your local guard chapter for any future work involving the case.

    Thank you for your time,

    [Name illegible].

A soft sigh escaped her lips as her head canned back to look at the sky, for several long moments, the Archon simply stared blankly at the daylight sky, not moving an inch. She had felt it in her soul, her heart, that Adam had indeed passed away at a certain point. Though she couldn’t say when, or how, this had confirmed her theories. Somehow, someway, the two had crossed paths, fatally wounding either party, and only one lived to tell the tale. No wonder she hadn’t heard anything from Arazoth, or seen him in nearly forever, the man had no doubt killed or even gravely wounded Adam. Her fingers curled around the parchment, the Teleddon's words echoing in her ears.

“I will torture him.” She remembers him saying, a flat tone with an ice cold gaze. “Until there is nothing left of him but memories.”

Rolling up her sleeve, the tattoo on her elbow shone a sheen and shined like the sun itself, moving and rippling with her movements as she turned her arm this way and that. The singular, unmoving and blank eye stared upwards into the sky, unblinking. She had waited for years for that eye to move, to show any signs of life. But it had not budged since that day he marked it into her flesh, and had not shown any signs of life or care. Was he dead? She was certain that he wasn’t, but for now, she was the last one, the last survivor, the last man standing. With a look of soft resolve, she carefully folded the piece of paper and tucked it away. With a rise and smoothing out her sleeve once more, she made her way downstairs, toward where her husband was peacefully sleeping.
