CELEBRATING THE DIGMAAN YAOTL

~ 24 September, 307
With the sixty-fifth anniversary of his hatch day today, the 24th, the Imperial Times takes a look at the life, achievements, and ambitions of the Digmaan Cro-Zzhin Yaotl, Secretary of the Southmark. Born in Hadar, Jorhas- the northern horn, specifically, Yaotl has "done nothing but serve the Empire which accepted my people, not without its trials of course." While not much is known about his personal history, it's quite illustrious upon his arrival to the Holy City.

Arriving in 306 AC, Yaotl cooperated with the Allar community of Regalia to unify it, first establishing an embassy and then a district where they could thrive in the City. He worked against the Desprince Philippe Étienne Marcelle until the Desprince's defeat, and then worked tirelessly against the Anglian Mist. Yaotl was instrumental in the Mist Operation that brought it, and the famine, to an end, and in many battles since.

When asked for some of his greatest accomplishments, Yaotl said, "My crowning achievement, I find, is the grand reunification of the Hadarian demilitarized zone. From the north to the west, east, and south. Hadar has never been more unified. With my guidance we shall return our country to splendor, and with it, the Empire shall earn another victory." He's most proud of the Allar that have rallied around him as a community, as well. "It is a title most gratifying," Yaotl said on being recognized as the Qar-Digmaan.

His plans for the year include improving the financial state of Hadar, among other pursuits. "It is a war torn land, one where we still hang in the threat of centuries old conflict with the southern Sendras, and the fear of the Elven Moors falling to the Dread Empire - puts us in danger. More victories in battle for the warfront to finally reach a conclusion, [and] improvement of my homeland's status," Yaotl said.

On his birthday party, Yaotl said, "I shall be sharing the benefits of my hard labor over the year in spectacle most extravagant. All of my friends, even my rivals, I wish to suspend a day to simply bask in life with the people I compete with." The Imperial Times wishes to note that this party is coming within the next two weeks, though no date is set currently as the Secretary for the Southmark juggles ministerial work.

Birthday announcements and profiles will be given for the Lord Chancellor and Madame Haeddi Harhold in the Sunday issue. Usually, birthday announcements will be found in the Peripherals unless noble or people of high import. The Times looks forward to hearing when your birthdays are!

SINFUL NOBILITY BEWARE: A LOOK INTO THE SECRETARY OF FAITH'S NEW EDICT

~ 20 September, 307

The Secretary of the Faith Jared Kade put out a new edict Friday stating that Frisit worship is now legal across the Regalian Archipelago as long as the Isldar agree that the Imperial Dragon is divine and supreme. As with all other religions, it is still illegal to convert faithful away from Unionism, but can be practiced in the home. This is anticipated to cut down Violet Order work as well for arresting Frisit worshippers.

When asked, Kade said, "The Law was passed for two reasons. Frisit Worshippers within Regalia were using the faith to justify murder and other criminal acts. To some degree, it was terrorism. I burned, mutilated, and killed the offending Isldar, and the rest have agreed to worship the Imperial Dragon above Frisit. Therefore, I have no reason to continue outlawing Frisit worship. If anything, I hope the violence against Isldar can end, as now all Isldar travelling through the capital will be of service to the Empire."

Estel worshippers are also being given a week's grace from any arrests to organize themselves publicly, though it's uncertain if any Faith of Estel worshippers were being arrested for their faith before. It's assumed that at the end of the week, they'll enter into some sort of State service as a collective.

Sinful nobility will be pointed out amongst the Houses that are not committing themselves to the Kathar war effort. Any sinful behavior or other behavior that does not contribute to the Great Way will also be punished through undisclosed means. "Crackdowns" will occur next week.

YOU AND WHAT ARMY?: THE BUREAU OF INTERNAL REVENUE ENUMERATION

~ 24 September, 307

The Bureau of Internal Revenue Enumeration (referred to herein as the BIRE) was chartered this morning by the Lord Chancellor. It's currently headed by Her Grace the Duchess Catherine Tyrannian, Secretary of Finance, and will be used to monitor and enforce tax-paying across the Nobility and Aristocracy. They have the power to "investigate matters of fraud, forgery and other similar crimes that [tax-avoiding] individuals may participate in with the intention of escaping taxes."

BIRE can enforce finance laws, arrest and detain those in violation, collect taxes, and have an assembly of no more than ten men, wearing leather armor and carrying blunt weapons in the name of enforcement. Of specific note is the ability to audit taxpayers to "investigate unnecessary or unscrupulous spending."

While it is the opinion of the editing staff of the Times that BIRE as a whole is a step in the right direction, this specific right is a cause for concern especially for the nobility, who should be allowed to spend their coin however they wish as long as their taxes are well-paid. This is especially important when keeping in mind that "unnecessary or unscrupulous spending" definitions are loose and open to interpretation.

The Imperial Times apologizes for the late issue. We'll be working on Sunday/Wednesday releases until we can get a stable Sunday schedule going. Please bear with us!

Peirgarten Scuffle with Sewer Plebs on the Sewer Notice Board: Ser Julius Peirgarten, Commander of the Crimson Company, has provided proof that he is in the Sewers on mercenary business, citing contracts such as the Violet Order having him pursue hiding criminals, among others. Duke-Consort Rodrigo Peirgarten finds himself with an odd taste in fashion.

The plague spreads in Lorhauser, which was spread at first by a Qadir merchant. This information was found by using 20,000 Regals of State funding, given to House Tyrannian. People are dying from plague, and House Peirgarten is putting down riots.

House Typhonus issues a denunciation of House Viduggla for withholding pay from men at the warfront and offers to pay the wages of only Typhonus troops.

Jacobin sentiment spreads in Alracusa, which was already concerningly liberal.

In Morvinia, local Etosian Church curates have begun to preach heresy. They say the people should declare Herons as they should define worship models.

Dye prices triple overnight.

The Creeds are translated into Daendroquin in Bragalacao. While denounced, the copies are spreading rapidly amongst people who have never read the scripture in Daendroquin. It is unknown if the translation is accurate.

In Ostyr, a "Divine Maiden of War" states she will lead the Ostyrian people back to victory and respect.

Birthday announcements will go here.

Aleck released a sigh of relief, closing his eyes and taking a sip of his whiskey shakily. "One can only be thankful there was no mention of Monday's incident."

An irritated noise escaped the large woman as she folded the newspaper up and strolled further into her house. "I worry for their mental states, and that's say something!" The newspaper folded over on the perpherials section.

Fen'nan read the bottom of the the paper, scowling angrily, a more common expression then ever on the beautiful Altalar's sharp-featured face, as she whirled on Milo and brandished the paper in his face as if he couldn't already see it. "What, sir, is this?!" She cried, outraged, "Criminal contract my ass, he did what he did to me out of revenge and we both fuckin know it—it's time to be bloody louder." She snapped, throwing the paper to the floor of her new home. Her eyes rescanned the open page.

"..HA! 'Odd taste in fashion.' Pfffft, they always wear weird shite anyway. Bet wearing people's skin is common."

The Sihai Brood picked up paper that was thrown to the floor, reading it for a moment before throwing it over his shoulder. "Revenge or not, he's still a dick for showing his face down there. I don't mind if we take louder courses of action, despite it not being wise--Like what you've done with the place." he responded as he took a look around the new house.

"As for this 'new fashion' of his, I always thought he looked like a clown nonetheless."
