Field medics were rushing in and out of the tents carrying dead or wounded soldiers. Some of the soldiers couldn't be saved, but others could. Many Altalar were carried into the medical tents onto stretchers. Mathías Teien was carried into the tent by two medics on a stretcher and set on a cot. One of the medics yelled out. "I need a doctor this man is injured!" A young Anna Caladwen came rushing towards the trio with a satchel in hand full of medical supplies. She stumbled over a couple bags, but caught herself before she fell. She stood straight and brushed it off. She looked down at Mathías and then go the two field medics. "Where is this man injured?" asked the Altalar, one of the younger field medics quickly replied. "He was sliced open by an Allar, it's a nasty injury. You need to make sure he doesn't bleed out and make sure it isn—." Anna cut her off replying with a tone of annoyance. "I know what needs to be done, I'm a doctor after all." the younger medic dipped her head, taking the other but the arm and leading her out of the tent.
Anna glanced down at the man lying on the cot before kneeling beside him lowering her ear down to his mouth to check if he was breathing, she nodded after hearing a breath and straightened her back removing a pair of medical shears from her satchel and she began to cut off the bloodied shirt he was wearing. She frowned at the sight of the wound studying the man's wound and then the tattoo on the chest of the man. She got straight to work, taking a clean rag out of her satchel standing to get a bowl of water returning swiftly with both items and began to clean the wounds. Mathías winced and weakly spoke. "This is going to hurt I'm guessing." Anna rolled her eyes and replied. "It going to hurt a lot, but I'll give you Ruby Flower before I start stitching you up." He nodded, closing his eyes as he sighed, letting her do her job.
After an hour or so of tedious work Anna stitched the wound together, and cleaned it. She took the bloodied rags and the shirt that Mathías was wearing and threw them into a bin coming back with a stool setting it next to the cot and sat there waiting for the man to wake. Mathías woke noon the next day sitting up slowly. The woman that was watching him stood and made her way outside, after that Anna returned. "I see you have woken. What's your name soldier?" Mathías turned to her, looking her over before speaking. "Mathías, Mathías Teien. Who are you?" asked Mathías. "I'm Anna Caladwen." replied the younger Altalar. Mathías Looked down at his stomach where he had been wrapped in bandages after this his gaze returned to Anna. "Thank you Anna, can I repay you in anyway kin." Anna shook her head waving a hand at Mathías. "No need, just make sure you don't get cut open again." Mathías chuckled and nodded. "Yes ma'am."
Now 288 AC nearing the end of the war and Mathías and Anna has gotten together to make the war times easier and to have some sense of home. The pair were in Mathías's tent arms around one another as they laid in their cot. Anna buried her face into Mathías's chest holding him close, and Mathías has a hand stroking Anna's blonde locks. "This might not last forever Anna. We might not be together when this is over." Anna lightly slapped the man's cheek and replied. "Shut up and snuggle with me." Mathías rolled his eyes placing a gentle kiss upon her cheek and hugged her to his body. "I'll love you as long as I can." Anna sighed and looked up at him studying his emotions before laying her head back down beginning to shut her eyes and sleep. Mathis did the same, whoever thought. A hawk and wolf sharing a bed.
