The Garrison
"Our foremost defense."
"Our foremost defense."
The Garrison is a fledgling political and cultural movement in Regalia, founded as a reaction to what is perceived to be a gross misstep of the Imperial State, a final feather to break the camel's back. Those part of the founding of The Garrison were in the same belief that the Empire has been in severe and embarrassing decline for years, a wrong that must be rectified post-haste.
Core Tenets
- The Eternal Peace: The Garrison pursues the idea of what has been dubbed 'The Eternal Peace' or 'The Last War'. An idealistic end-goal for jingoism that will be accomplished through the establishment of an unrivalled world hegemony and unification of the human realms. War should, ideally, no longer be necessary in the eyes of The Garrison, and therefore usher in a virtually Eternal Peace maintained by an endless supply of armies.
- Economic reform: To achieve The Eternal Peace the empire will require funding for a terrifyingly large army. Funding that it has not had in years. The Garrison demands a thorough and pragmatic restructuring of Regalian economic policies and the laws affecting said economy. The Empire's economy should, after all, serve the military, as the military serves the economy in return.
- Harsh Pragmatism: Leadership is a burdensome affair that is not for everyone. Heavy decisions must be made for the good of the many, and the responsibility of those actions lay solely on the leader. It requires a strong will that is ready to face the consequences and take the risks no other would. There may be unpopular decisions, but that is the price we shall pay for beautiful salvation.
- No Gods but the Emperors: The God Emperors are those who toiled away their mortal bodies for the Empire, and their sacrifice must be respected. Therefore there can be no proselytization of foreign gods and divinities within the Regalian Archipelago. Worship of non-unionist faiths is acceptable, but should be kept to an appropriate level. No non-unionist symbols should be on public display, and no temple may ever outshine even the most pitiful of unionist churches in whatever settlement you find yourself in.
What can you expect from this?
The Garrison will host gatherings through the week where members will discuss the movement's goals and how to achieve them. The topics will vary and the lengths of the discussions can last for several sessions if needs be. We will also be working on spreading The Garrison's core beliefs in any way we can. We'll get creative.
It'd also be expected to show off the movement on the streets and at events. We're all in this together, so the best way of sticking through with it is by letting everyone know who we are and how we can be everywhere. We're a political coalition, so there'll be no screwing over of each other when we have mutual interests at stake. If you're in it for short-term gain and you're eager to ditch the movement quickly then The Garrison will do their best to make life in Regalia troublesome for your character.
This is in many ways a continuation of the Western League of old. I want to start a political bloc in Regalia whose influence stretches far beyond just the assembly. There will be wild plots, controversial moves and a whole lot of breaking of the status quo. We're not gunning for the boring old conservatism LARP, so anyone can join as long as they adhere to the core tenets of the movement. If you're on the fence about joining then feel free to catch me IRP or OOCly arrange for an IC talk over discord so I can try and tip the scales with deeper argumentations!
