The Fires Of The Phoenix

OOC: This Lore Story follows Xayn Baleck and covers the start of the "Fractured Light" storyline that begins after Andreas' death. I would like to dedicate this Lore Story to the following people:
@Peace_Hope for helping to change Andreas' view on Ailor and remind him that there can be light within the darkness.
@Brit<3 for helping to give Andreas the much needed courage to bear the pain of a broken heart.
@TonyBones for helping to mend Andreas' heart and start to befriend his friend Xayn and help to kick off the "Fractured Light" series.
@Chief , @Ded Jok , and all of you who have read the stories and roleplayed with me as Andreas on MassiveCraft! I hope you enjoy "The Fires of the Phoenix!"

"You gave me a challenge, my old friend. I swear I will finish what you started."
Xayn had been on Regalia's shores for a short time and he already faced a greater challenge than he ever known: picking up the pieces of a friend's life gone too soon. There was strength that he had command over in his body and he excelled in using his mutations in battle as well as not, but he wasn't prepared to try and piece together the remnants of Andreas' life. He had found some difficulty with his old Coven leader Lathlaeril in trying to keep them together, but it just felt like he had to handle a bratty child who could die from his own emotional state. Of course he didn't have the want to challenge Lathlaeril and even beat him into submission so that he could make him face his emotions head on, but he did have the determination and ambition to break the mold.

His old friend's husband Connak was even more difficult in trying to sway. Blinded by the pain of losing his husband and the emotional tearing in his heart had made Xayn's job that much more difficult, but it wouldn't be too hard after a couple of days. This wasn't going to be easy to keep these connections alive and Xayn knew it. He'd have to utilize all of his skills and all his knowledge to keep these connections alive, but he'd have to harness all his strength to reforge them in the fires of the phoenix.

"Do I have the strength to keep them aloft?" He would think to himself as the sun began to set over the city of Regalia as he walked up to the top of the Golden Willow. Connak told him that Crimson Witches are illegal, but he only knew that the Ailor were scared of what they didn't understand. He watched the guards scuttle about below, never thinking of looking up to see Xayn on the roof of the Golden Willow Tavern, but Xayn also saw the people below running about doing their daily lives. It all too reminded him of life in the Dread Empire, but he had no wish to recall those memories.

Xayn felt the inner fire within his soul burn brighter and he even felt his own spirit grow brighter as if there was work to be done. He examined the streets below as he thought "These people had hurt Andreas by killing his wife and children, but in his letters, he told me that he slowly came to recognize that there were some Ailor capable of good things. That there was Hope to change and restore the light."

He spotted some Ailor guards that were harassing some woman who was out and doing her normal routine, which was getting groceries by the looks of it. That only served to fuel his anger as he witnessed the guards harassing a woman, so considering all the possible angles, he would begin to parkour over to the guards just like he had done back in the Dread Empire battle school.

It felt like the energy of the Void flowed through his entire body as he parkoured over towards the guards that were harassing the woman, burning through the stress that he put his body under. To Xayn, the rush of flowing energy was akin to feeling the strength within his soul burn through the darkness and there was nothing that could stop him as he neared the guards and the woman who appeared that needed help. He would jump off the lowest roof that was nearest the guards, which luckily was right on top of the guards.

He caught the guards off-guard with his attack, but when the woman saw the telltale hair color of a Crimson Witch, she froze in fear. She was afraid that he was going to harm her, but to her and the guards surprise and shock, Xayn was ignoring the woman and getting into a stance that he was familiar with as he'd begin to attack the guards who were wielding swords, but he had learned to avoid the weapons of his opponents and even use their motion against them so it would not take long for him to defeat the guards and even humiliate them.

After he sent the guards off-who seemed quite weak compared to him-he went to check her vitals. The woman was scared of the Crimson Witch, but once she realized he has making sure she was alright, she calmed down a bit. Xayn would recognize she had suffered immense bruising and some cracked ribs which he knew he couldn't heal. He would help to heal the bruising, but after healing those injuries, he would also help the woman by taking her back home.

It didn't take long to help the woman back home, but he didn't bother to learn her name. He simply told her that she would be fine as she tried to reward him for his help, but after politely rejecting the reward, he turned to leave. Xayn didn't want to come across as a man that could potentially ask for rewards from doing good deeds, but he would show that even what they considered filth and abominations were capable of doing good things.

As he avoided the guards on patrol and make his way back into the sewers of Regalia, he could feel that Andreas was watching over him from the Void and could sleep peacefully knowing that his friend was keeping his promise of helping make his mark on history. Xayn was a good friend, but not even those who were close to him could understand the amount of pain and hurt he went through but chose to not reveal since his best friend was dead. Each time he saw them do something that he felt like Andreas would be annoyed or pained with, he grew frustrated and wanted to beat them into submission, but he couldn't harm them. He needed Connak, Lathlaeril, and all those that Andreas had met in his life still alive and breathing so that meant he needed to break the emotions that he wielded.

This only meant that unlike Lathlaeril who wanted to turn off his emotions with the use of a mask, he had chosen to wield his emotions like a red hot iron sword and work through the pain. He would go through Hell, but the end would justify the means.

As long as the Phoenix burned brightly for there was a storm brewing.

OOC: EDIT This is just a story meant to entertain and give some perspective. If you roleplay a guard character of any kind, please be aware that this story is meant to be an entertaining one instead of making the guards out to be in a negative light. Thanks to @CRASHIR for telling me this.
