"There was always a beast within you, Dalerak. You just never noticed it slumbering in your soul until now."
Dalerak was never really good to begin with, but the feeling of his soul splintering and fracturing akin to stone being smashed with a blunt hammer was enough to crush whatever light remained within the darkness. There was no good left in him and it would show as he started to feel...

...nothing anymore. No emotions came bubbling to the surface as if they were cut off or just nearly impossible to reach. Dalerak felt his emotions be turned off like a switch in his mind was flipped, rendering him unable to truly feel any emotion anymore. He didn't know if any magic known or otherwise could fix this, but he didn't feel worried at all. He'd go through the motions almost flawlessly of showing emotions, but he didn't feel them. It would appear to him that since he felt nothing anymore, he'd try to inflict pain upon himself.

To his surprise, he only found that he was still able to feel pain, but remain emotionally unaffected. No rush of anger or express worry dotted his features, but he noted that he was able to feel pain though he could take no pleasure in it nor say he'd be able to resist it completely. The only pain he inflicted upon himself was a simple prick on the finger, but that was enough to tell him he would still feel it though express no emotion over it.

He was stone cold, which made him both think it through much clearly. The pain of losing his loved ones and the severity of his devotion was truly enough to render him this way, but he did recognize he was able to go through the motions of showing emotions, which he sought was a useful tool if it could be used.

The Dark Phoenix began to rise from the ashes of the light and fall into Darkness...
