The Dark Slumber

OOC: This Lore Story is divided between three perspectives of characters that I have played or am playing on MassiveCraft. Please understand that the perspective of those that I have played are merely only there to give a proper send-off to those characters and to make the story more entertaining to read. This story also contains gothic elements as well as mature themes such as coping with loss and depression. If you are unable to handle these mature themes, please click away. You have been warned.

"Death is merely the end of one story, but the start of another."
Andreas was dead. This much he had known. He no longer felt the warmth of the sun or the feeling of his heartbeat in his chest so therefore, it was made painfully obvious that he no longer was among the living. He had watched his own friend Xayn Baleck be collared, forced to undergo the same curing treatment that he experienced while he was alive, and even struggle to fulfill his wish. Xayn was his last hope of making his mark on history as he even witnessed his friend give Lathlaeril the journal that contained his thoughts, inner doubts, and explained everything he was unwilling to share. That even included his own regrets in life.

While he was unaware of the cause of his own demise or couldn't recall it, he felt certain that he couldn't come back as if it was not going to work. Once he saw Lathlaeril take the journal, he would only gain understanding that his friend that had gone through trial and tribulation in the Dread Empire was giving up. He wanted to scream out to not give up and to keep fighting, but found he could not speak and that he felt tired.

There was a warmth that felt like he was near a fireplace that had begun to flow through his non-existent form. A feeling that it was growing time to sleep-to fall into a dark slumber and never wake up.

Andreas' last sight of the world before he let the warmth drift him away into the never-ending slumber was that last interaction between Lathlaeril and Xayn. That final goodbye.

...and then there was darkness.

"There was hope for my friend's story. I wanted to elevate his name into the history books, but this was my last life. They say if you blow away the ashes of a phoenix, they can never be reborn."
Xayn had failed. There was no turning back for the Crimson Witch as he left the Sunflower Café, eating his last meal which was only a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He pondered what other avenues he could take, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. The only punishment for failure was death and he had made things a hell lot more worse not only for himself, but for Lathlaeril, Connak, and all those he had met. He had arrived at the most inopportune time and had destroyed what little trust he had with Lathlaeril and his Coven with the spar and the extent of his injuries. He didn't have to do a lot of detective work to also understand the tension he had created between the Coven Andreas was a part of and himself was too much to handle for any one person. He also understood that at one point, the whole Coven would have been trying to kill him or just never forgive him.

The very last thing he had on his mind before Xayn drowned in the freezing cold water of the canal near the Golden Willow Tavern was that he wanted the Void or anyone to make him suffer and never let him know peace.

Little did he know that wish was granted as Death took him...

"Sometimes, you never understand what the world has in store for you. I didn't know my wife and children were murdered, but now that I do, the monster within me begins to burn."
Dalerak Xyan was mortified when he heard the news of his family's murder. The letter only arrived the next day and within the depths of the sewers where no one could hear, he screamed out in pain as he felt his heart shatter into thousands of pieces. He loved his wife and children with all his being, but with their deaths, it stirred awake a deeper monster within his core. There was no name for it, but he felt that with his heart broken and akin to a bleeding heart, there was a darkness that craved to break free and consume his very soul. He did not know, but it was so heart-wrenching to hear of their murder that he no longer felt the kindness that surged within him.

However before the darkness in his soul took him completely over, he stopped himself. He thought of an easier way to deal with the news and keep the anger burning. While the sewer dwellers began to scuttle about and the other vampires made merry, he was plotting and meditating.

There would be light within the darkness, but now, he was meditating to realign. He would focus on the darker aspects of himself and coax them awake, but this would take time. Time he had to spend and this was something that he had to do in order to become a true monster.

Evil can take many forms. Everyone knew Kathars were truly evil, but no one would suspect a Kathar who would harness his own demons and evil nature, granting himself the ability to manipulate his own self and don the masks that he'd soon have at his disposal. Lies, misdirection, ruthlessness, and general deception were to play key roles in the future as Dalerak would begin to be unleashed.

The monster in his core purred and once he began to meditate, he would spend days down there in the Sewers. Days that would end with him shaking off what little morals he had left and unleashing a true monster.

Author's Note: With these two characters being sent off (Andreas and Xayn), I think it time to say that the "Fractured Light" series has taken on a more darker tone as Dalerak takes up the mantle. I will also be re-applying for Dalerak Xyan on Sunday (12/1/19) so that he has his abilities and such, but there will be edits to his character page to accommodate for this change from a man with much compassion and ability to care about others to a monster that is cold-hearted. Special thanks to @Faith_Bug , @CRASHIR , @Chief , @Peace_Hope , @Diaprit , @bxrnes , @TonyBones , and all those who had the chance to meet and roleplay with me on Andreas and Xayn. You guys are the absolute best and I surely hope to keep roleplaying with you as Dalerak as we venture down this latest change of POV and down the rabbit hole.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed reading "The Dark Slumber" and expect more Lore Stories!

I could've sworn I already rated this, but I looked back to reread it and I guess I didn't

Just wanted to say that this is really well written, it just sucks Andreas and Xayn had to die ; - ;
