Legions sing and flags fly high in the capital of Soren this week, as Imperial legions under the oversight of Duchess Aleksandra Dragic entered the city first the first time since the siege was established. This marks an astounding victory in the region, with the administrative center now under Imperial occupation, disorder and chaos will run ripe among enemy ranks who have refused to acknowledge the Kingdom of Sorrin's surrender.
The terminal battle was a hard-fought one, with reports of last-ditch attempts to sally out and break the Regalian siege was utterly destroyed by the entrenched legions, dealing out vampiric casualties in the thousands while taking relatively few in return. Similar reports make mention of more misfortune among the remaining Soren vampires, as their retreat ended in nothing but a series of explosions and burning ships in their wake. Besides war casualties from the siege entrenchment, the largest other source of Regalian casualties came from captured sailors aboard various trade vessels which were requisitioned by fleeing vampiric forces, ultimately meeting their end in the explosions.
House Dragic had the honour of planting the winning banner within the city's main square, in what had been a tornado of battle but a day before, shouting out victorious chants to our well-seasoned legionaries and lighting their spirits on what is already a most glorious day. Vampires and looters still litter the surrounding hamlets and countryside, with the region now in a state of post-conflict chaos. Despite this, assurances have been made that following the victory, plans have been put in place to pacify the surrounding region and ensure stability returns.
The Regalian strategy throughout the siege has been one of utter triumph, taking relatively few casualties amidst the storms of battle and delivering a decisive victory. Today is a day of celebration and commendation to our armies abroad.
Paragons of Armament: Puretek Distributed in Valadia, Calemberg and Waldmark
Theodore Cottersfield - 07/07/310
Reports of Puretek adoption have peaked after a series of large-scale production contracts from the Billiard Guild has seen the devices surge in popularity in Calemberg and Waldmark and even abroad as far as Valadia. The infamously expensive devices were given by the Guild to Duke-Elector Dietrich Von Drachenburg for free earlier this month, who cited intended use for the Sunnan Velheim people in their ensuing conflict. Crates of rifles and pistols were then transported to Valladia, with Von Drachenburg himself instructing locals as to correct firing procedure, maintenance, and overall use.
The results speak for themselves, the generous distribution to locals has seen the technology adopted almost immediately, with the efficiency of the weapon in the field causing it to surge in popularity. Unless a similar benefactor seeks to do the same for opposing forces, it is felt that this advantage will bring many victories to come for the Sunnan Velheim people in the coming battles.
A similar paid order was made by Mister Erwin Braunschweiger in the same week, with thousands of puretek pieces being paid for out of Braunschweiger's personal fortune and distributed for free in local population centers across the region. This marks a general trend in the adoption of firearms technology, with the weapons previously being unobtainable for vast amounts of the Regalian population due to the sheer expense of procurement, and upkeep. A study is to be conducted in both regions as to the effect of implementation, and the general effectiveness of these new technologies when adopted en mass. Already, reports have come in with citizens having garnered success in a number of stand-offs with vampiric forces in the region, suggesting the investment has indeed been worth it.
As a result, the paper commends the initiative and generosity of the Duke-Elector and Mister Braunschweiger, nominating both for the Paragon Prize which is due to be released to a single individual in August. The Paragon is an esteemed prize The Bureaucrat offers to individuals who attend above the call of duty in acts of generosity and innovation, with the donation of rifles and pistols satisfying both criteria. Only time will tell of the effectiveness of these weapons en masse, but should they be decisively successful in achieving their respective victories, will this mark an interesting revelation in further adoptions of this technology?
Local Dwarf Rants Anti-Establishment Sentiments
Theodore Cottersfield - 07/07/310
A local drunk has drafted a proclamation calling for the boycott and walk-out of the City's Metropolitan, citing the institution as suffering from blatant corruption. In his article, Wulf Eikinskjaldi Grofsmid attests to having been assaulted by a Metropolitan Constable, who shall remain nameless unless the accusations are actually proven.
The proclamation stammers a call for all other Dwarves in the force to resign and calling all others to boycott the institution, promising to raise funds to support the families of those who would so sheepishly take up his cause. How this dwarf is able to afford such a generous promise is still being investigated, but until such is established; those with temptations are suggested to bide time or, more favorably, utilise the parchment to assist as kindling.
After a series of ridicule from the general public against Grofsmid, Lord Commissioner Duke Rodrigo Peirgarten released a statement on the matter. In this, an explanation was given as to the Dwarf's criminal history of racially-targetted assaults among the city's Isldar population, justifying the arrest. Despite this, Grofsmid denied any wrongdoing and instead redirected his accusations of corruption to the Lord Commissioner himself, with just as much evidence as his original statement.
The Bureaucrat reminds its readers that employment in the City's Metropolitan remains an honorable occupation, one which grants a fair wage to support one's passions and family. The pension alone should be weighed heavily against any promises of welfare payment for those who indeed walk out, however few.
New Companies Migrate to Regalian Capital
Theodore Cottersfield - 07/07/310
New businesses have begun cropping up across the Regalian capital as a number of companies have chosen to migrate their headquarters to the city. The attraction of these entities marks a healthy increase in the local economy, with an anticipated increase in jobs and locally-produced goods soon to become available.
Among these are the Heartland Ceardian firearms manufacturing company Hitchington Burr & Associates Limited, who have reported to us a healthy increase in sales among the population of the city, largely tailoring high-end weapons to some of the most powerful families in the peerage for use in hunting and household defense.
Additionally, a Dunbrae brewing and distillery company by the name Norinn & Co Breweries is expected to arrive in the capital later this week, with tale of a third high-profile business potentially following soon after. In a statement, the brewery's leader extended his excitement at the increased prospects in the Regalian capital, hoping to address the low number of running taverns across the city by establishing his own community hub to tailor to commoners, merchants, and nobility alike.
Being a largely mercantile and business-orientated paper, The Bureaucrat welcomes the attraction of new blood to the once vibrant arena of Regalian Commerce.
