The Boškovic family draws most of it's history from the last two hundred years. They would claim that at one point they had family records and history that stretched back centuries, but it had been lost as the Dvala lands were invaded. The lands that would go on to become the homeland of the Leutz-Vixe was once the homeland of many Dvala families, including the Boškovics. In their version of the story, as the Empire invaded it committed horrible atrocities on the land to expel the people and instead replace them with foreign colonizers. They supposedly launched a brutal campaign in which they exterminated or expelled many of the Dvala peoples, and the few Boškovics who didn't flee were systematically murdered in the genocidal campaigns of the Empire. The land they used to live on would become part of the Leutz-Vixe territories, and it's for this reason that the Boškovics refuse to help any of the Leutz people as a point of honour. The truth is perhaps less extreme, though there is no doubt that the Boškovics were certainly driven out of their homeland and many of them did perish in the conflict. To this day, the Boškovics keep a hundred year old deed which they claim proves their ownership of a plot of land near Vieux-Provence, the modern capital of Brissaud. The veracity of such is, unfortunately, impossible to prove.

It would be after Boškovic family fled their homeland that their recorded history starts. The Patriarch of the family, Miroslav, lead the family to their modern homeland in the southwest of Baldmark. There, they lived and died on a large farm for several decades. For a time, the family again new propserity, but after Miroslav passed things rapidly deteriorated. His son, Dragan, did not have the same skill as his father in agriculture. This, combined with drought and a few bad harvests, drove the family once more to the brink. It would be in this trying time that Dragan started to take the family in a new direction, one which they continue to this day. Faced with the prospect of starvation, Dragan began to work with opium smugglers along the Baldmark coast. What started as a simple way to make ends meet, ended with most of the family involved in one way or another. For better or worse, by the time Dragan died, the family had fully abandoned the farm and instead made their living in a life of crime.

This was not without it's benefits. The Boškovics made a lot of money off this business. Their farm became a minor estate, and many in the family enjoyed their new wealth. The petty farming family had the chance to rub shoulders with their betters, they could afford to send their youngest to colleges and universities, and it seemed as though the streak of bad luck that had haunted them ever since the Empire's invasion had finally ended. When the Drachenwald Crisis broke out, the family made a lot of money smuggling weapons up north to sell to the rebels at profit. At the time this seemed great, but this turned out to be one of the worst decisions they ever made.

The Boškovics were good smugglers, they had a lot of experience, but most of their experience had been running drugs along the coast. Moving large weapons shipments across land however, was an entirely different beast. They didn't have the same connections, network of trustworthy men, or knowledge of how to cover their tracks. About twp decades after the crisis ended, the government in Baldmark had assembled an ironclad case against the Boškovics over their weapon smuggling activities. The reason the case had not been pursued sooner is unclear, though the fact that the family was prosecuted right after the remaining Barons who lead the rebellion were executed by the Empire, may lead some to assume they were under the Barons protection. Unfortunately for the Boškovics, the government had quite a lot of proof. Witnesses, paperwork, and even a family member or two who turned informant to save their own skin. The end of the decade would see most of the Boškovics rotting in cells, with the remainder of the family emigrating elsewhere.

It is here that the history of the family in the Crown Isle began. Svetozar Boškovic had not been the favorite son, nor the second favorite son, but he ended up in the leadership role of the family after most of brothers were sent to jail. At the time he had been in the capital, getting to know the locals and attempting to establish a network of underground contacts for his family to work with. Well, unfortunately, most of that family ended up in prison and the few who stayed set sail to join him. The Boškovics ended up on the Crown Isle not by conscious choice but rather by circumstance.

Now getting on his years, Svetozar continues to lead the family through thick and thin. While perhaps not as deeply intertwined with crime as his grandfather Dragan was, he certainly isn't clean and continues to lead the family down the dark and treacherous road of the underworld. Time will tell if he leads them to another era of prosperity, or if like so many times before the Boškovics will once more be on the brink of destruction.
