    Miris

The wind blew across the valley and hills in northern Essalonia. As usual the rain fell from the sky drenching the Mirisian land. Khenta’s settlement had grown since its founding. A small start to a city was developing with a luxurious palace and bustling harbor. It was quiet and wet just like any other day when suddenly Revalor rushed to Khenta.

“Khenta! A ship approaches of unknown origins! It looks to be lightly armed! Maybe there are women on board...” Revalor said with quite urgency but yet excitement at the thought.

“Sink it.” Khenta replied simply and in a cold tone. He wouldn't take any chances of former enemies from Hadar hunting him.

“Ready men? Fire!” Zee ordered. A barrage of cannons roared from the Miris port. Barely any shots hit, but the few that did would inevitably cause the ship to turn back to home port.

“Khenta, the ship has turned around without engaging. We lost sight of it.” Zee informed Khenta.

“A shame it's not at the bottom of the sea, but well done. Alert me immediately if anything else develops.” He said before returning to his palace to carry about the day like any other.

A horn sounded, it was the alarm of the guards at port. Khenta immediately stood and rushed to the coast where the incident occured before. A small group of soldiers were gathered around what looked to be a few bound battered men and a few women. However as he approached closer it could be heard that one of the women was in distress.

As Khenta approached it appeared as the soldiers were gathered around one of his own on top of the woman obviously attempting to take advantage of her. The soldiers all stopped their actions in shock as a hand reached to grasp the offending soldier's hair pulling him back as a sword was driven straight through his back and out of his chest. Khenta flung him to the side and used his foot to kick the impaled soldier off his blade. A cold look of fury was on his face as the surrounding men grew pale, some even shaking in fear.

“Let this be a message to any of you. I will not have barbarians in my ranks.” His stern voice scolded. “Tell me what is going on here?”

A soldier spoke up on the far reaches of the group, “These are a few that were lost overboard from the ship we engaged earlier.”

“I see. They clearly aren't soldiers. What on this damned earth would make you treat them this way. Unbind them and get these women off the ground and take them to the inn to get some food and rest. I would like to speak to them. May I remind you all of your fate shall I catch or hear any of you attempt something like this again.” His tone was emotionless yet clearly strict.

Several hours passed and Khenta visited the Inn in the center of his uprising city, The Capital Inn. The reception went to each of the refugees rooms and summoned them downstairs. Two men and three women were guided their way down the stairs. Their clothes are far different from what was worn in Miris. They definitely were not from the north as they were dressed for the heat. Intricate and fancy designs were on each of their clothing pieces. They sat in front of Khenta in a few seats in the Inn bar.

“Allow me to introduce Myself, I am Khenta Miris, founder of this city, the beginnings of the Miris Empire.” Khenta started with. “Tell me who you are and what were you doing in my land?”

“We are from Azuria, a kingdom in the south. Our city is in the Mesa and lacks many resources we need. Our Queen set us on an expedition to attempt to find new lands to settle in order to get things we so desperately need. We stumbled upon your unknown port when we were fired at. The ship was forced to return to home port, however we were blasted off in the chaos and fell overboard. We doubt they will be back anytime soon as the damages were quite severe.” One of the Azurian women said.

“I see. I apologize we do not typically have much interactions with foreigners. Even more so I'm sorry about my men, I will not tolerate that behavior. I do hope you are all unharmed. In the morning I will instruct my general to give you a vessel and return to your lands. If possible I'd like to further engage in diplomacy with your Queen.” When he was finished he got up and once again apologized giving his goodbyes and allowing the castaways return to their rooms.

“Khenta are you sure we should be giving one of our few vessels to strangers? What if they are hostile and this angered their Queen?” Zee questioned him as morning struck.

“Well, if they are then we will just kill them. Easy solution. Have some faith we have to take a chance every once and a while not everyone is bad. And as i recall, it was one of your men attempting to rape on of those women. I will advise you to clean up your soldiers while they are living, or I will by putting them six feet into the ground. Give them their vessel and send them on their way.” Khenta gave a stirn tone to Zee.

The ship set sail from the Miris ports and quickly came out of view in the distance. It is unknown what the consequences would be from his choices, but Khenta was confident he made the right one. While the Azurians made their way back home Khenta began making his potential war plans and cleaning up his military.

The Azurians were grateful beyond words. Swiftly those who had washed ashore readied to sail homebound.

    Azuria

Masika was lounging in the shade of her flower gardens, Her Servals protecting her as per usual. Many other of her beasts lounged nearby, reptilian, mammals, and the like.

A panicked guard approached. “Hola, my Queen-- We have something of concern.. One of our vessels was attacked off the shores of a small settlement..” He wheezed, he seemed to have ran a fair amount of land in order to report to her.

Masika arose from her rest, eyeing the guard with curiosity before rising to her feet. Placing on her sandals before clicking a command to her Servals to follow the Queen to the docks.

Chatter arose but quickly fell as Masika was spotted. The crew stood around a near demolished vessel and a foreign one, one unknown to the Kingdom.

Swiftly the captain of the original crew stepped over, and spoke in a rushed manner. “Our vessel was attacked outside of foreign lands.. They believed us to be a threat I’ve been informed.. Once they realized otherwise-- My Queen.. They offered a ship to assist our travels home. We were given a letter-- one for you.” The Captain rifled around in his intricately woven vest for the letter.

“One of my other crew members was given it.. Here-- My Queen.” The man offered a curt bow as she handed over the letter to Masika.

Masike looked towards the letter before gingerly grasping it and unfolding the parchment. Her eyes scanned the letter swiftly.
“Guards… lead the crew home and’ make sure they have injuries treated and are fed..” Masika sighed tiredly as she eyed the letter. “We must attend the meetings of peace at Steadfast.. We shall be stopping by this-- kingdom..” Masika sighed and set the letter in her pocket, rubbing her temple before starting towards her study.

Masika emerged the next day with a document, one ensuring peace if accepted, and ensuring a watchful eye and trustworthy reporter of events within Miris. A proposal of the eldest of Masika’s daughters, the timid Akila, would study within their lands and report news of the land to her mother. This was decided after long conversation with her advisors, her daughter and the wrecked vessel’s crew.

As the event with Steadfast was approaching, the Queen along with her guards, her Servals, a snake, and her negotiation terms set off to Miris. Beforehand sending a letter by horseback to inform this new Emperor of her arrival.

    This letter read:

    Dear Emperor Khenta of Miris

This letter is in regards to multiple subjects. The first of which being my need of boarding preluding to the concerts at Steadfast, which according to where our Vessels were attacked is in shorter distance to you than to us. I would like to request the ability to board at your lands, I shall be arriving with two members of the Royal guards as well as some pets, two of which being personal protectors.

This parchment hasn’t enough space and I haven’t enough ink to speak on behalf of the events, though I would enjoy a meeting to resolve them.

I plan to arrive in early spring, seeing as our distance is fairly great.

    Sincerely

The High Queen of Azuria Masika Archelaos, Daughter of the Rain and Seas.

    Miris

A long period of silence preceded the incident that occured many months ago. Many of the townspeople had forgotten the event that unfolded many months ago. One day that all changed with a strange tan foreigner came riding into town on an elegant horse. He proceeded to stop at the palace steps where the guards readied their pikes.

“HALT IN THE NAME OF THE EMPEROR!” The guards shouted as loud as they could.

“I come with a letter from the Queen of Azuria in regards to the utmost important events.” The messenger relayed to the guards. He got off his horse as one of the guards lowered his weapon and retrieved the letter.

“I understand, I will bring this to Emperor Khenta immediately.” The guard that received the letter proceeded to rush inside the palace to deliver it while the other held guard with his pike.

“My Emperor, the Azurians have responded. They sent a message from the Queen.” The guard handed the letter to Khenta and returned to his post at the palace steps.

Khenta read the letter over explaining the situation that was about to unfold. It was nearly early spring already which would not give his people much time. He knew nothing of this Kingdom known as Steadfast but it seemed to be of rather much importance. He would discuss with the Queen and decide if he would attend making his small city known.

“Never was one for royalty, they always make these documents so overly fancy and hard to read.” He muttered to himself.

“Ohhh a queen! Maybe I could bed her…” Revalor questioned himself out loud.

“Absolutely not Revalor.” Khenta just sighed.

“No no Khenta let him try. Maybe she will kill him.” Zee put her hand on her face contemplating the ways Revalor would die.

He rises from his throne and decides to address his people from the palace. “People of Miris, as some of you may know, many months ago we encountered a ship and opened fire under mistake for hostility, when we realized our mistake I did what I could to correct it. We hear back now from the Queen of those lands who will be visiting in the coming days or weeks to discuss the future of our two lands. It would appear we might be thrusted into the world stage. Let our first impressions be good ones.”

Two weeks go by as the citizens of Miris prepare to present themselves. Great decoration and improvement projects were completed across the developing city. Finally the day had come when the siren sounded and the watch alerted the Emperor to an escort of horses, large felines, mules and donkeys. They said the woman in the lead was dressed in elegant clothes with exotic animals by her side.

Khenta went out to meet the woman. His soldiers stood next to him as a precaution. However, Khenta motioned them to back away and stand down.
“I don't need your presence to protect me. Stand down.” He quietly said to the men next to him.

“I would have to assume by your grand entrance that you are the long awaited Queen Masika of Azuria. Would my presumptions be correct?” He said to the lady riding.

“Indeed I am, and if we are going to be assuming things, I will assume you are Emperor Khenta of Miris.” She replied in the same manner.

“And I am Revalor! How are you doing M’lady?” Revalor interjected with a shout as he almost slid up to the queen as if to make a move.

“Shut up you idiot!“ Zee smacked Revalor before gripping his hair dragging him back to Khentas' side.

Khenta sighed and took a deep breath of frustration. So much for good impressions he thought. “Get over here you idiot!” Khenta shouted at Revalor. “I apologize for him. He's just an idiot. Come inside to my palace we have much to discuss. My men can show your companions to their room if you so wish.” Khenta motioned her up the palace steps where she and her company would be staying.

He held the door for the Queen to his throne room before proceeding to guide her and her guards to the conference room in his palace. Revalor and Zee would join on Khentas' side as a series of discussions would soon unfold...

“Quite the society in the works. We thank you for the lovely levels of hospitality.” Masika would smile kindly. A snake would wind its way up the woman’s left arm and across her shoulders.

“Thank you we haven't been settled for long but we've made great progress. I can only assume your civilization is even more grand. Would you care to sit?” He extended his arm as if to invite her to a chair before sitting himself.

Masika moved to take a seat, adjusting her dress accordingly to make sure it looked proper. The snake upon her shoulders slithered in circles. The Servals stayed at the Queen’s feet.

“Keep the dress as it was! It gave a better view…” Revalor said with a tone of disappointment.

Khenta gave him a pissed look raising a hand as if to hit him but stopped. “No need to be propper Queen Masika. In all honesty I'm not really much for royalty. I am a military man, but no matter. I believe we were to discuss the incident from a few months ago yes? I did my best to correct it. It is my sincere apologies.” He remained calm and collective as usual, almost emotionless however.

“It-it was a compliment!” Revalor protested but he was soon cut off to Zee forcing a hand over his mouth to shut him up.

“Shut up you filthy knife ear. Don't disrespect the woman.” Zee’s stirn voice lectured Revalor.

“Simply is how I’m used to behaving, but I can be less cordial.” Masika offered a light chuckle. “Indeed this is in regards to that event. I have a proposal..” She sighed as she took a large amount of papers from her nearest guardsman.

“I’ve known you for two minutes and you're already giving me reading?” He said with a bit of a jest. “It would appear you have been up late working that out. What is it you intend to propose?”

“The purpose is to ensure peace between our nations- as well this was long ago drafted once word of the attack upon my ships occurred.” She offered a faint smile at the joking tone. As she spoke she stroked her snake’s back.

Slightly confused which was clear on his face. “I'm not sure if I understand, I assumed there would be after I corrected our error. Are you asking us to offer you something in return for that?”

“I’d like something to ENSURE it doesn't occur again… I’d like to offer my daughter to be able to study here, she’ll report events to me.” She smiled and calmly riffled through her documents. “She’d be able to report, and would like to travel nonetheless, enjoying colder weather patterns for some reason.”

“Queen Masika, I don't believe this to be completely necessary to give your daughter to Miris. Only if it is her free will she wishes to come here will i accept. She has rights and freedoms herself to choose such an affair.” He seemingly protested ethically.

“She would enjoy being here, seeing as she likes cooler climates and bleeker.. Areas? Rainy.. She’s agreed to gladly be here within perhaps an embassy, you and whoever you would like to appoint would be welcome to one within Azuria’s walls. She is allowed to choose upon her own free will.”

“I agree Khenta we need a new woman around here.” Revalor made a devious grin. As he managed to get his mouth free from Zee’s hand. “A foreign exotic one at that the possibilities are endless…”

Khenta whacked Revalor across the back of the head. “Absolutely not you fool.”

Masika offered a polite smile as she forked over a parchment which outlines these causes.

    The Great Azurian-Miris Treaty

This Treaty is being formed to ensure the safety and good relations between the two Kingdoms of Azuria and Miris.

The terms outlined in this allowed for Akila, the eldest child of Masika Archelaos the High Queen of Azuria to study and board at Miris. She will be allowed communications with her mother and a place to board. If wished Akila would be able to form a stronger union between the nations but till the time is to come she shall report to her mother of occurrences, and study the flora and fauna surrounding Miris. This placement of the Princess will also increase trade opportunities between the kingdoms. As Azurians have many exotic goods and would like to see the materials rich around Miris they would be able to use for linens, meals and other things.

We as well due to trade plans to have open ports for one anothers vessels. Those of each kingdom are
allowed to immigrate to one another's lands. Embassies will be open for ambassadors from each kingdom.

Borders would be open for citizens of either land.

I hereby Agree to the terms of

    The Great Azurian-Miris Treaty

X Masika Archelaos The High Queen of Azuria

X Khenta The Emperor of Miris

The two leaders read through the document and swiftly signed the letter,

Masika offered a curt nod and a small yawn.

“Now.. seeing as that was dealt with, would I be able to rest somewhere with my congregation?”

“Yes of course you and your companions can stay in the palace. The inn isn't quite fit yet for political persons. I can show you the way.” He got up from his seat and began to lead them to their place they would be staying.

Zee gave Revalor a death glare. “Don’t you dare even think about trying anything while they are here you dirty magus.”

Revalor crossed his arms in a pout.

“I do believe tomorrow we have more to discuss however, you mentioned a meeting with another nation?” He questioned regarding Steadfast.

“Indeed we do, but as the travel was long from Azuria I’d like to retire to.. Wherever.. I shall see you tomorrow morning.”

Masika yawned tiredly. Moving off to find somewhere to rest.

And that is how the Great Azuria-Miris Treaty was formed.
