    happily welcomes you to

    The Alms Sanctuary Library

(( This thread should really be posted in RP Groups and Organizations, so I'll be remaking it soon. Until then, this is a good source of info!))

Located in the Alms Sanctuary building in Rose court, the Alms Sanctuary Library is a public space open to any legal citizen of Regalia, be they common, noble, or even Crookback denizen. We will be curating both Regalian-original and outsourced books, both fiction and nonfiction, hosting contests, book clubs, and social times!

Do you love to write? Our Librarians are happy to accept original works from all budding authors or researchers in Regalia! Looking for something specific? Put in an order for a book on the topic of your choice, and our eloquent local authors will try to see to your research needs!

Want to test your wit? Sivriddles will be swapped out regularly, so be sure to show up if you want to match wits with the Alms Minister and her riddles! (And don't even think about googling the answers because I'm making these up myself to be lore-compliant.)

Use /tp Nest Inn and turn around to find the Alms Sanctuary! The library is only open when a Librarian opens it. See details below.

    How does it work?

    1) When the Library is open (as posted in Alms Discord or RP Community Discord), a Librarian for the Alms Ministry will open the gate, and supply you with a fresh book. One book per person only!

    2) Books will be rotated out regularly, with the current roster available in the framed item spaces on the walls. Simply right click the framed book you'd like to check out, and it will be copied into your "book and quill", so that you can read it on your own time.

    3) Only one book can be copied at a time, so come back often to read new books and engage with other literature-enthusiasts of the city!

    Becoming a Librarian

Librarians are the center of Library RP. The Library is closed unless opened by a Librarian. Each Librarian is expected to put a bit of their personality into the position, so that a different experience comes from each person who contributes to this new hotspot. Do you want to host 'sappy romance novels and wine' nights? How about 'spooky stories around a campfire' events? Are you a scholarly mage who wants to encourage people to use the 'by request only' section of occult materials? Or are you a poet who is trying to encourage people to think more deeply about what they read? Maybe you'd just like to teach people to read in general!

The possibilities are genuinely limitless, but I will expect Librarians to be front-runners in activity and personality. When you don't feel like hosting a grand hangout session, you can of course simply throw open the gates and hand out books as you please, just ping RP Discord and Alms Discord!

    Becoming a Researcher/Writer

If you would like your name to be remembered for writing work, fiction or nonfiction, be sure to tell us! Researchers are those who collect nonfiction books for ic use.* Writers are those who respond to personal requests for poetry, short stories, romanticized historical fiction, et cetera! Anyone who would like to hire writers and researchers can use the Library to be connected to them. Want to hire a researcher to write your aggrandized personal biography? Look no further!

    * Please do not copy wiki pages to submit a work of nonfiction! Use your character's experiences, such as anything discovered through a prog, or through IG rp activity. Be creative! You can use biographies of influential characters, personalized stories (an encounter with a beast or demon told through first person perspective?), historical narratives (wars, family history events, prog tournaments), and lots of other things! No cheating and simply rewording the wiki; we want to see some of you and your character influencing your nonfiction! Use this as a chance for your research character to go around asking questions ic, compiling character knowledge and experience into their work!

Read this or face improperly formatted books!
When you type or copy+paste a document into a book, please lave THREE blank lines from the bottom of each and every page. Otherwise, your text may be cut off!

    Our Collection

The Library's book collection is always available, though specific titles will be curated for the shelves based on the preferences of the current Librarian. Be sure to ask for titles you wish to check out, if they aren't on the shelves! There's even whispers of an off-the-record collection? What's that about...?

    Fiction

The Moon Devourer of Se'ha'ku - Novellia Reinard
The Troll of Griprede and the Three Brothers - Novellia Reinard
    Honest Hilpéric - Novellia Reinard
Tales from the Rite #1 - Lily Janssen
The Legend of Teodane - Aldane Justyr
The Greatest Treasure Seeker - Henric of Heeresveen
The Dark Mirror - Sivrid Sorenvik

    Non Fiction

    Herbal remedies - Winifred Marth
A Thesis On Naval Doctrine - Fabian-Kurt Harhold
Allorn Empress List - Henric of Heeresveen

(( If you want to donate spooky/pagan/occult/other impolite knowledge to the library, feel free to do so! We hold no 'illegal' books, but we keep spooky stuff off the shelves and away from innocent eyes. Currently seeking books about occult experiences, legends, and knowledge! ))
