So. Taxes. We got them taxes now. And our grace period is over. So! Now that we've gotten our first lick O' taxes on a massive, Whaddya think? Do ya like taxes? Love 'em? Want to marry them? Want to stab them in their left lung? Tell us your thoughts!

I think that they are a pretty sound idea.
Biggest challenge here is for the younger kids to work out how to keep their faction running.
For the older generation that's worked in business or had some sort of job, gathering financial security is already too familiar.

Hell taxes actually might teach these younger generations some ideas about clever financial budgeting (Not that Cayorian was aiming for a Silver lining or anything).

My opinion;

Personally, I love taxes.

The large factions with massive overclaims and inactive players are finally losing their huge overclaims, which means less work hassle for staff AND it opens up looting for players who enjoy that.

All the lootsie doodles.

And it's a simple money drain. Large factions with large claims can support ut because of how many players are in their fac, and beginner factions or small factions like my storage faction only have to pay 1 regal a day (10 chunks claimed) to protect an entire storage. 500 regals in the bank sets it to be good for 1.5 years without concern.

All the luvs.

I love the idea of having to earn what good you own. With effort put in to a project, the more rewarding it is working towards it. It's a challenge! And having challenges makes it all a bit more spicy and interesting. So yes... Bring it, taxes.

Indirectly, it can lead to different building styles. Hear me out:

With the increase of taxes per amount of land you own, poorer factions don't want to claim willy-nilly. Therefore, they have less space and need to make more compact housing. You can imagine poordistrict-esque housing with apartments and flatmates and such. I like it.

Taxes are pretty cool.

It's quite easy to make money, in all honest... If you really tried, you wouldn't have an issue making at least 100 Regals a day. Taxes wouldn't be an issue c:

On this server alot of the loyal members are stuck in many different factions. If factions start shutting down due to taxes then the loyal members are released to join other factions. This will help factions like mine gather more loyal members to help keep it running.

My only grudges with taxes is the "daily" aspect. I think that taxes should happen once a week so that factions have panic time before they lose everything they ever had.

Sure, lot of factions will disband. but what happens if yours disbands while you're having a vacation? Is it still a good thing? Will you smile, knowing that it is for the greater good? Or will you be sad, because you just lost all twelve of your god axes? I mean, yeah, I'm all for taxes too, but it seems almost everyone who has responded already have overflowing coffers. Think about those who are losing their stuff, their land, their entire city. Some people cannot afford taxes, either because their dictator-y faction is taxing them too much, or because they don't have enough time to get on and play. If taxes were based on how much money you had, not on how much land you had, would you still support them? Try and see this from a different point of view, because when you're looting a disbanded faction, the loot didn't just appear.... someone worked for that stuff.

Do you go on sudden vacations? Or do you plan ahead. Cause most people tend to know when they go on vacations and if they think about it enough will come up with a plan to keep their stuff.

Darkrooming with the toilet bowl method. Also known as the train, you basically run around in a circle and then quickly leap up to where monsters cannot get you, then you bash in their skulls whilst moving about to reach all sides of the line. Doing this is allowed, and can easily get you at least 20 Regals each train you set up. I have gained a total of at least 700 Regals this week alone, I just keep giving it away to my broke buds. Trust me, you guys will be able to live as long as you take initiative for darkrooming. Not only this, but you can sell more un-needed items, thus freeing up your chests, and you will gain McMMo skills to help you in case of a raid. These taxes are much more beneficial than a lot of people really seem to see!

While people do plan vacations, they can't plan for sudden illness. I am normally only able to get online once or twice a week, but if something comes up, I ended up being offline for two weeks.
Otherwise, while I've been on the server for some time now and don't mind adapting, if I were to look into joining the server now, I think the taxes would scare me off.

The fact that I'm not on this server every waking moment makes it hard to run a successful faction. running a faction was already hard enough but now I can't even hold on to my faction land which I have lost completely three times now. don't get me wrong I love this server but I think it would better for everyone if we didn't have these taxes

Voting for the server, and finding/ making a dark room is more than enough to keep my faction running.

Okay, I think this is going to start a flame war. I will just say that people with different play habits will have different opinions. Rp'ers don't want it because they don't get much money from roleplay. PvP'ers are all for it. I am a mix of both and I am fine with it. I just wish my fac waan't so inactive!

Seems good. I'm excited to see how it may impact the economy. I misread the vote thinking it said "They haven't ruined my life.".
