This story is canon, however it was wrote on a whim when I was stuck on how I want to play Taen. I'm very bipolar asf for when/how/why I want to do something with my character and I believe the smaller things that trigger myself set me off a bit. I'll still be playing Taendross casually, however I plan to set her as a side character for less situations like this. Woop. Anyway, enjoy the story!
Winter was coming. She knew of this, yet it left scars and reminders of the home she'd left behind. Her feet lead her throughout a dark sunset, free hand wrapped around her lantern as she began to make her way to rest on a bench overlooking the bridge of New town unto Old. Her toes cringed and curled from the salty smell of sea water that radiated the area, only further reminding her of the home she'd left behind. So much of her wished to return home, but she couldn't leave everything behind. Not when the Holy City was dying, when people had been killed around her and rumors spread of dark forces that she knew of. But? Part of her didn't mind. She longed to return home, her heart ached to see her family and those she'd held close after the recent loss of her husband and the overly collapsing troubles of being in the city. Mind melded with heart and she let it take over her actions and thoughts, beginning to ponder the trip it would take to make home… It would only take so long before she could go home, she knew this now. As she stood and made her way to return home, she noted down her options. This story is canon, however it was wrote on a whim when I was stuck on how I want to play Taen. The trip was short, yet tedious. A simple two weeks of travel to return to Ellador wasn't too rough on the Elder. Her daughter Cel'rae came along, as well as her brother whom had come to soothe her aches and offer help in places she could use. Her goodbyes had been short and brief, only sending letters to her loved ones and friends, even advisors and associates that simply read she would return when the time was right. But she knew as soon as she set barefoot into the cold snow, curling her toes around it and fiddling with the cold air that ran through her lungs, she hadn't made a mistake at all. She walked amongst the docks, twirling on her heel and dancing, feeling ecstatic to finally return home.
The snow danced around her, Soul Rivers lighting up and twirling, bending along her sides and following along her whilst she dropped her luggage off with the others, rushing off into the unknown as her nose filled with crisp air and her lungs sharpened to the familiar feeling. She didn't mind the cold, it didn't cause her any concern or issue. She was more focused on the mountains around her that she knew so well. The bypass that lead into her hold, buried deep in soft layers of fluff. She ran across the snow for what felt like forever, the storm above growing slightly as it began to fall against her features from the sky, showing godrays briefly through the clouds. As she finally made her way onto the top of the large hill she'd rushed onto, she caught her breath to look out far onto the hold, visible even through the thick layers that fell through the sky. Her knees fell into the snow and she gave a dry wheeze of laughter, resting back and letting her bare skin run against the flooring beneath her… She felt safe, at home.
After her time spent upon the mountain, she began to trek the way home with Cel'rae on her shoulders and her brother Ly'Santhir, everything was going well. They had returned to the hold and listened as many people gathered and crowded, Taendross resting her hands out to clasp with Kin and close friends, relaxing within the comfort of so many close. She felt reconnected, listening to their tales and what they'd done in her absence, asking of Siora, Faihis, Paeral, the Refuge even. She only gave brief ideals of what happened before departing with her family and returning to their lakeside home. The water was frozen from the front as she made way inside, breathing an exhausted sigh and offering a small wave to those who'd helped her home. She brought Cel'rae to her room, helping the girl settle down and come cozy before doing the same for Ly', checking over everyone within the house before she finally made her way to her own room.
Her soul had been graced with the connection of family and life, her frown of few days past turning higher and relaxed. She was finally feeling at home, with her family. She took a deep breath, having unpacked and changed into something cozier as she burrowed herself into her bed underneath the heavy, frozen cold blankets that even smelt of her home.
She was finally content, happy with her days once more and happy to see what would come of the future. It would come, right?... As she finally rested her eyes, her bones and body kept stiff, numbing and her faint eyes opening once more, before closing for good. Her lungs breathed in, and out.
In, and out…
