Sylas, when responding to fear, tries his best to pacify the situation in order to lessen his fear. He’s not exactly level headed or a clear thinker in these situations. He might be brash or pushy towards others and tell them what to do because he thinks it’s what’s best for a situation, though it’s very hard for him to lose his cool and freak out. How would your character respond to experiencing Stress? In Sylas’ mind, stress is what you make it. This thought has lead to him pushing his stress down and usually ignoring it or pretending it isn’t there. This can lead to it boiling over at later times after its accumulated too much. How would your character express feeling Happy? You can tell Sylas is happy when he talks too loud or his grin is a bit larger than normal. He’s not afraid to laugh or be bold in his actions and clearly show when he’s feeling good. Another common trait of his happiness is drinking. Sylas will find an excuse for any occasion to drink when he’s happy. How does your character view Law and Authorities? Sylas acknowledges that there’s a need for Law and a system of Authority. He never fully agrees with it, though. He’ll show respect when it’s needed but refuses to comply with those he deems corrupt or misguided. How does your character feel about Races other than their own? Ailor rule above all and Velheim should be acknowledged as one of the top dogs among Ailor. Sylas isn’t one for inherent racism, save for any Alt-Regalians, but when it comes to choosing his sides Ailor will almost always take his favor. The more void related races or non-human looking they are will always be deemed lesser. How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths? Sylas appreciates the Oldt Fayth for all it stands for. He believes Unionism to be a fake religion, same as he views all other religions. The Old Gods Faith is acceptable, though. He strives to end his life with fair Soldi in any way he can. How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world? Magic and Arcane are only a means to cheat without actually working in this world. Though Sylas isn’t against cheating when it’s in his own favor. In general, Sylas will try to dissociate with magic and those involved with it. How does your character feel towards their family? Believing the rest of his family dead, Sylas holds his two brothers closer than anyone else in this world. Their well being will always be at the front of his mind when he chooses his actions. Unless wed, Sylas will always put his brothers before anyone else. What is your character's biggest insecurity? Sylas is most insecure about how he’s viewed by Velheim of elder age. He wants to be seen as a shining example in the Velheim community and one who properly shows what the culture is about. After the Burning of the North, preserving his race’s culture is one of Sylas’ main goals. What is your character the most proud of about themselves? Sylas is most proud of his status as the elder brother. Although he depends on Driskell and Isak more than he thinks, Sylas likes to think he’s the most knowledgeable among his remaining kin. What motivates your character to move forward and better their life? Sylas is motivated by the continuing struggle his kin and himself go through. After being forced from their home due to the Burning of the North Sylas has made it his goal to be there for Driskell and Isak as much as he can be. What is your character's biggest fear? Sylas is terrified by the thought of Velheim and their culture being completely removed from the face of Aloria. It’s already hard for him to find a ton of other Velheim with them being scattered due to the burning. He fears the Alt-Regalians will want to fully wipe out the Velheim culture in a second Burning. Life Story Birth and Origins Sylas is the eldest son of the mostly irrelevant seafaring warlord Ásbjörn Skogångripe and his first wife Siri. He was born July 5th, 269 AC in the rocky coasts of the Czabri Bone Shores of Drixagh. He was the first of his father’s children, followed by his two brothers Driskell and Isak. Childhood Sylas received basic education with high expectations as the next head of the Clan. His father pressed him to be in tip top shape both mentally and physically. Though Sylas only really excelled in the physical spectrum compared to his brother Driskell in later years. Sylas often sparred with Driskell, being the more physically capable which led to many victories on his side. He was always quick to comfort his pouting brother when finished covering him in bruises, though. Sometimes even letting Driskell get a good hit in just to make him feel better. One thing he certainly didn’t favor was the educating of letters and numbers. He grew a bit jealous at seeing Driskell get appraisal for how easily he took to books, which let his slight temper put a few more bruises on the younger brother. Once Isak was born Sylas started to gain the mindset of the responsible older brother who must take care of his younger brothers. He started to take more control, disregarding Isak’s pointed ears and still seeing him as kin. Adolescence Sylas, once ready, was sent off to the School of Skaggers where he made the decision to learn under the teachings of the Björntass Discipline. His desire was to better train his body to muscle through life. Sylas spent the next years of his life in raids and battles with his father and brother, Isak still too young to properly join them. Adulthood Furthering his training and skill was Sylas’ current goal. Though he had picked up how to sail from one of his fellow Skaggers while out on a raid. He soon became the token captain among his brothers, often being at the wheel of a ship during their excursions. During his time as an adult, Sylas had fallen in love with a woman named Eo. She was his future and aspirations, vowing his life to protect her. After years together he eventually proposed and the two were planning to wed. Things were easy and Sylas and his brothers were enjoying their time together. They practically did everything as a conjoined trio, even having synced bathroom schedules at this point in time. This was until the Burning of the North took place. Sylas and his brothers were caught amongst the violence and fled into the woods, losing sight and hope that the rest of their family escaped the flames. Sylas, especially torn over the belief that Eo had died, wept for many days. What made matters worse is that the woman was with-child at the time of the burning. The boys wandered until stowing away onto a ship that would carry them to the Crown Isles. They resided there before eventually leaving after a year. Present Sylas has now returned to the city once more, temporarily leaving his brothers behind as he seeks opportunity in Regalia.
