A Statement from the Inquisition

A letter would be pinned to major noticeboards across the city, provided to all Charters of the city, to the Synod, the State Council and the Nobility of Regalia.

The Inquisition Seal is emblazoned at the top of the notice.
It reads:

"To the esteemed and well-meaning citizens of Regalia! It is with a heavy heart that I must come bearing grave news. In this time of danger the Lord Inquisitor, Gena Livanov, died in the early hours of the day, an ailment taking him peacefully in his sleep. Perhaps, after the long hours he has spent guiding us, the Spirit deemed him worthy enough to die now. Our thoughts are with his wife, and fellow Inquisitor Kasimira Livanov, may the Spirit guide you through this troubling time.

Unfortunately, with the passing of Lord Inquisitor Livanov, our Prefecture, and the higher rankings of the Inquisition, have turned their gaze inwards, rather than to the citizens of our city. To take time away from their dutiful watch to make families and follow other ambitions. As such, the issue of who will lead the Inquisition through this time became a necessary debate.

For now, the Inquisition of Holy Leomar has appointed me, Abelhard Rote, as the new Lord Inquisitor. I am both humbled and honoured by the decision, and hope to make the most of my time defending that which is sacred and honest in the Holy City we call home. I will do my best to take up arms against those that dare to threaten those of Unionist faith and our allies.

In my new position, I make these vows:

  • To the Commissioners of the State Council, it will be my privilege to work alongside you in the betterment of our city. I vow to uphold a steady stream of communication to and from your offices.
  • To the Charter Heads, I am glad to serve this city amongst you and vow to offer the full cooperation of the Inquisition under its new leadership.
  • To the innocent and defenceless citizens of Regalia, it is with great appreciation that I take the place of Lord Inquisitor, and as such vow to protect you against the Heretics that taint our great city with their sacrilegious and unholy practices.
  • To those who have the desire to fight and serve, I urge you to place yourselves amongst our ranks, to find a place of service amongst our reformed structure. I vow to provide you with the opportunity to learn and serve beneath the guiding hand of the Synod.

In this time of crisis, there will be no ceremony, no glory to take with this assignment. My service to the Unionist faith has now been given a status and position I may use to aid our city in this time. In the oncoming weeks, with Inquisitor Livanov's permission, a service and Sacrament of Slumber will be performed either privately or publicly.

Spirit guide us, bless us, and keep us safe,
your Lord Inquisitor, Abelhard Konstantin Nikolas Ottmar Rote"

"Let the late Livanov ascend to the Everwatch and watch on as Rote continues his work. May Rote lead dutifully and faithfully. I am sure he shall assist our Empire to victory against the wretched menace which is heresy." At that, the Reverend Harhold folded such a parchment and placed it gently on his desk, sliding it to the side. He soon began to write up his final sermon at his verwaltung before his departure to the Holy City.

"Congratulations, Abel. I knew you would achieve a greater position, even if the situation which allowed such is far from pleasant.

Now I pray that you can aid the city in these darker times,"
a certain d'Vaud muttered to no one in particular as she read over the notice within her home.

It was afterwards that she then went to offer prayer.

"Mm, Abe's rising through the ranks quickly." A very happy elf commented from the comfort of her own home to the fluffy black cat sat upon her lap. "I'm excited, Sebastian. Let me get him a hamper ready."

Bjørnolf Sundenn's eyes lit up as he read through the announcement. He gave a proud chuckle before saying in Skodje "Hahaha, wow. Good to have this guy as my friend."

Lazarus d'Soleil would burst out in laughter at the news, "What, yer serious?" ; Going to calm himself down he'd continue to speak.. "Good on 'em, I s'pose!"

Winifred D'Vaud stared at the notice with a bit of excitement before clasping her hands together, raising them to press the back of one hand to her cheek as she did, "I just healed that man." She was rather proud of herself.

Kasimira Livanov finally makes herself known of the announcement, and extends a letter of clarification to her new Lord Inquisitor.

"Blessed day, Lord Inquisitor Rote,

Unfortunately I must correct your misinformation on your announcement this passing Friday, I wish that you had come to me before releasing it. Former Lord Inquisitor Gena Livanov suffered a fit in his sleep, which was altogether violent and alarming for my household. He was able to be taken to clinic and survived, however he was deemed unfit for work and has now retired and moved back to Pavleona, Etosil where he will likely spend the rest of our days. I am left on the Crown Isle to serve until I am either incapacitated like him, or dead.

We will see which it is in the path ahead.
Spirit Preserve you,
Kasimira Livanov Alfredevich"

It is generally to be believed that the Livanov matriarch would spread this information from here on, if maybe not in the form of an official letter, assuring folk that approach her to give condolences that they've not as much to mourn about.
