A race re-release is not a rewrite per-se. Rewrites can occur because a piece of lore doesn't mesh with the general lore anymore, or because it has become too far out of date. Slizzar lore has stayed relevant but was presented in a poor manner, or there simply wasn't enough. The lore was taken from a certain angle that was never fully our intention, so by re-releasing it, we're hoping to resolve some of those issues while also really empowering the Slizzar. So at a base line, the Slizzar were considered "hoe-snakes". Which is not what the intention ever was. Obviously, the seduction aspect was overstated, because romance-rp sells, and because clever politics isn't for everyone, it's difficult to play with subtext and not wearing your intentions on your sleeves. With this in mind, the re-release occured by changing the narrative a bit:

    Subject
    Changes
    • The introduction has been rewritten to overstate their political nature and remove all mentions of seduction.
    • The Slizzar now have 4 (technicaly 4.5) forms in which they can shapeshift.
      • Form 1 is the same as the old form, except Slizzar are no longer bound to dark gray scales. They can have any combination of colors and patterns of scales now.
      • Form 2 is the same as the old form, but obviously inherits the scales from Form 1
      • Form 3 is the same as the old form, but with a change. Now, the more humanoid shift is stuck in one type of appearance per race, with facial traits that are consistent among races that have similar heritage.
      • Form 4 is the new form, which is arguably their greatest tool. Slizzar are now able to seamlessly change into another race's appearance and ditch all their Slizzar appearance traits (which were previously mandatory in form3). They can also freely change this appearance in whatever way they like on the fly, making them in all essence "true shapeshifters".
        • Form 4 can also be modified by merging the snake tail of Form 1 back into the mixture, essentially making true Naga.
    • The Mental characteristics have changed making them from an all-Slizzar-hating to a somewhat cooperative race. Essentially the enforced Slizzar hating was removed, and replaced with a more collaborative experience.
    • Sensation Surge has been extremely downplayed. It is no longer as powerful as to force feelings on people, but rather just make suggestive back-of-mind thoughts, allowing the subject players to interpret them or react on them in whatever way they like. To compensate for the loss of function, the Slizzar no longer need physical contact.
    • Slizzar Bonding has been changed completely. The whole "screw with someone to mind bend them" was removed and replaced with a principle where Slizzar can simply understand what someone is attracted to while talking to them at a slow rate. This is the only callback to the seduction aspects of the previous Slizzar lore.
    • Slizzar Colluding is a new form (of what was previously Bonding) where a non-Slizzar can decide to become a partner in crime (or politics) of a Slizzar, granting the Slizzar bonuses and the non-Slizzar a detection mechanism. It does not require intimacy or intercourse between the partners.
    • The History has been changed to change Sassrakkand into a powerful mysterious city state as opposed to a crackpot ruin that has gotten destroyed by all manner of invaders over the centuries. Essentially, Slizzar now have a history worth being proud of, with events that reflect on their psyche as well.
    • Slizzar Society has been greatly expanded to offer far more backstory between the Slizzar, allowing them more unique interactions with each other, including Skype conference calls in mirrors.
    • Slizzar Culture has been hugely expanded to give them more cultural niches to fill.
    • Slizzar Religion has been slightly modified to give them the means to engage in religious syncretic beliefs (essentially having two faiths at once)
Overall, a major update to move away from the "i'm a hoe-snake fuck me and get proficiency points" to a far more nuanced political manipulator who actually cooperate with each other play a "grand game" where all other races are the pawns and they pull the strings. While a venue for snake-thottery is still there for those who want it, it is now seriously underplayed to not make it the main-aspect.

Hydralana will soon add the art back into the Wiki and update all periphery pages.

Also quick reminder: because of a re-release, any sort of interactions that would force a character who was a Slizzar previously to be forced into a specific role (either traitor, or lost), it's acceptable to partly retcon or just never reference the actions that would have resulted in the character being re-labeled. The lore re-release should present a clean-slate for all players to decide their own path, not be forced and chained by roleplay that happened a year or more ago.

I never saw the slizzar as hoe-snakes, just manipulative and evil characters, but that's just me. I'm really happy that the slizzar have been expanded though. Thanks!
