    Personality and Abilities

    • How would your character respond to experiencing Fear?
Isunjae likes to experience fear because it gives him more of a reason to understand himself, the world, what his weaknesses are, where he needs to go, and generally the addictive rush that he might die or be hurt. Fear for him is like a small rush of joy. Joy that plants his feet from moving and makes him feel his death is iminent, or some sort of pain will befall him. That’s part of his enjoyment for fear -- that he’s on the edge to life or death and anything can happen at any minute of his life. However, due to his new fragile nature he is fairly cautious, but he has some conflict in himself over his love to the thrill of death.
    • How would your character respond to experiencing Stress?
While he can enjoy and captivate himself in the experience of fear, Isunjae does not handle his stress in a very appropriate or effective manner. Rather, he would have used other people to exert his frustrations such as harming them or using them in physical ways to relieve some sort of feeling that made him feel the stress originally. While he may not turn away from his stress he would seek out a way to uproot it and forget it as quick as he could so he can return to his work.
    • How would your character express feeling Happy?
Being a greedy, selfish, indulgent individual Isunjae would likely try to pursue such a stimulus and continue the stream of feeling good. If food made him feel comfortable or “happy” he would consume more until said feeling of happiness left or was too abused to continue. As such, portion control and restricting himself in such regards are fairly limited as he wants to continue something so long as it feels good, which can lead to many problems in the future as he looks more to short term stimulus. Reading was more akin to an addiction, an indulgence than anything else as he got happiness from it and religiously followed it.
    • How does your character view Law and Authorities?
Sunny is not specifically a being who revels in chaos, but in accordance with his mindset and his own obstructed morals he does enjoy to see such organized structures break a part typically ones of other societies. Like he enjoys the decomposition of a body so too the well organized structure of an organized system. When in terms of superiors, however, he views them as needed for survival. Much like the Empress and the Champion he sees them as the pillars to the foundation of society, of progress and movement as a whole. So while he might seek to destroy some sort of organization due to his love of chaos, he can still comprehend the importance of their framework and will not just destroy them for “fun” per se.
    • How does your character feel about Races other than their own?
Due to the way he was raised in society, and his own self-inflated, egotistical attitude towards his own race he views other races as less-superior because of his Kathar-based ideals. Due to his knowledge on the void and the history he has read of other races and their dealing with the void he perceives them to be weaker, less intelligent, and blinded by their own preconceptions of the void despite how ironic that would be as he is a slave to his own preconceptions on them. He however, is not predisposed to hate them or act in any particularly evil fashion as he would rather see their codependence and corruption than complete destruction as he thinks everyone has their uses.
    • How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths?
Isunjae believes in the Void and parimarily the void prefect Malady and finds it necessary in his worldview and how he perceives other parts of life. He enjoys both the comfort and conflict that come with believing in the Void such as having a plethora of enemies and also having the ability to see such a diverse range of Prefects. Religion gives him goals, foundation, and principles for him to follow which he plans to serve faithfully. He finds his reason in his worship of the void.
    • How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world?
Isunjae likes to research and understand more about every aspect of the world so he can feel closer both not only to his own Soul essence but the void itself, and learning about the Arcane world and the Magical world makes him feel like he can become closer to that. The use of magic, against him or with him fascinates him to the point he will stop and watch like a child, take notes and anything else he can to understand the concept better. Anything foreign to him he will inquisitively prod, and is very unlikely to fear such magnificent abilities.

    • How does your character feel towards their family?
Isunjae feels both proud and loving of his family and their accomplishments. He enjoyed what they taught him, the path that they provided him to follow, and the seclusion they gave to him. He, to the best of his ability, loved them as brothers, sisters and whatever else there were. He didn’t like leaving them, but he did so anyways to keep up his research which was a priority. He loves his children and lovers, but feels more inclined to love his studying more.
    • What is your character's biggest insecurity?
Isunjae has the unachievable desire to learn everything and anything which also brings about the inverse of him seeing himself as never reaching his goal, never being as cultured as he wishes, and still being ignorant when something foreign comes to him. As such he holds himself to larger standards for knowing the answer to things and he is twice as hard on himself when he gets something wrong or cannot speak on a subject. Merely being called out on the “wrong” perspective would make him rethink, reevaluate, and think against himself. So, he has fairly critical views on himself to keep learning.
    • What is your character the most proud of about themselves?
The reason not learning or knowing the answer is his biggest insecurity is because of how high he prides himself on knowing the answer and speaking on many different subjects with different viewpoints. As the scholar he is and that being the only skill he can provide to the void he feels like he must contain that and if he fails in that regard it will affect him horribly. He loves his ability to observe, understand quickly, and memorize.
    • What motivates your character to move forward and better their life?
The constant state of unknown, and the constant state of pursuing the unknown in simple terms. For him he believes the more he knows the better his life will be, the better he can serve the void and because he was both a scholar and acts as a sage he sees this as true. Due to his constant want to know more he has associated that with him “bettering” his life, and his conflict to move forward would have to be his want to understand everything he doesn’t already know. He feels with how unknown the void is he will eventually stumble across something about it, the things from it, the prefects and the very religion he subscribes to could unveil to him should he give enough of his Soul essence to it.
    • What is your character's biggest fear?
He does not fear death, he does not fear the actual feeling of fear itself. However, he fears a state in which he can no longer progress any further, understand what goes on around him, or learn anymore. This would probably be some sort of degenerative problem with his brain like him going senile or losing motor functions like communicating and seeing the world, so going blind, deaf, or anything that affects functions such as those. Not being able to receive stimulus from his environment would scare him a lot because he could not know what is going on, or what there is with him. This also stems from his life when he was in the aquatic containment cell for years as well in which he thought he was in some twisted imitation of the void where there was nearly nothing he knew and the creatures were like strange mutations themselves.

    • Quirks; When Isunjae is happy his red wisps will churn, and likes to categorize undead by their wispcolor and curves of their heads.

    • Hyperthymesia; While not originally an ability, and also a semi-curse, Hyperthymesia allows him to remember things in a great amount of clarity. So, if he were to recall his body being torn apart he could in near perfect clarity which is a fair burden at times for things he wishes he could forget.
    Likes
    • Isunjae certainly loves the pursuit of knowledge and the feeling he gets from reading books. As such, he absolutely loves the process of getting a new book and reading it cover to cover multiple times.

    • Isunjae, despite disliking the other animals in the marine containment cell found himself to quite like the Octopus he was with as he thought it was something corrupt and mutated so he found its inner beauty in the image of Malady.

    • He has a guilty pleasure of having his top skull-plate patted in that it makes him feel some semblance of warm and scratches which makes his red wisps churn in enjoyment.
    Dislikes

    • Isunjae dislikes children generally because his few experiences with them were either them falling off a balcony, annoying playing with him when he was bodiless, or taking his time away from studying. To him he felt they were only necessary to progress the family tree so he could go back to reading.

    • Being in complete darkness annoys him because he cannot see what is going on, and without fingers or legs he cannot really figure out any semblance of where he is as he has no hair to stand up on his arms or anything to really tell other than his eyes and sound. This also indirectly affects him because he is less likely to be effectively researching or reading.

    • Ithanian mimes; he questioned them, could not understand their purpose, and quite frankly felt revolted by their actions. As far as he is concerned they are illogical and purely of a vile existence. When he was a just Sanguine he found delight in killing them because they did not make any sounds.

    Life Story

“There I sat in the shell of my mother.”

    Birth (0)
October 31st, 164 AC, Isunjae was born. In a large city on the Shadow Isles he was born on the third floor of a six floor tower-like home to Mirhadja and Hirtjae along with his twin sister Adinjae.

“Malady called upon me before I knew her.”

    Budding interest (0-19)
He was decidedly set to grow up on the sixth story with Hirtjae and due to the room being a library he began his collection of books very early on, reading from a very early age. He had a great view of the city scape, and one day his sister Hirtjae would tumble from the sixth story to the ground.

Isunjae sought to capitalize on his sister's death and begin a death garden to the prefect Malady which he would soon, at a much later date, worship. On the planter at the balcony that his sister fell he would plant her with seeds as he watered her and let the flowers grow. This experience grew his interest in the undead and his pursuit of knowledge.

As his many fathers came back from pillaging and working in the courts they would bring him books from every edge of the world, and he would continue to study and better understand the thin line between life and death as he was purely enveloped with fascination in the processes of the world.

“I devoured endless piles, countless pages.”

    Slave to the books (19-20)
With his increasing interest with the functions of others grew his enjoyment of understanding the process of decay happened as well when he began to study biology, the breaking down of fiber, morphology and corruption brought on by the void. This was only furthered when he visited graves, crypts and morgues as he studied how the slaves and dead were treated in the Dead empire.

Parasitism and fungus would also strike his fancy at this time, and his introverted tendencies only allowed him to remain alone for longer as he studied this.

“I tilled the fields of papyrus with no end in sight.”

    Continuation (20-40)
For the next twenty years nothing would change in his life as he continued to spend any time he had to the process of studying and memorizing everything he came across. Due to his advanced memorization this wouldn’t be a problem and he used this to his advantage to study a vast amount of subjects. He focused on history and death, but also went onto “lesser” planes of study such as the arts, crafts, martial skills, socialization and seduction. Pretty much anything he could read. He read musical theory pamphlets, Madame T’hoteries quartet, cook books and architecture manuels.

In both interest and to serve his kind better he learned about other cultures such as their religions, formations, history and most corruptible facets. He continued to read from many different fields and had a very diverse pallet.

He was often doted on for being “A prince rotting away in the palace.”

“I ran to my books like a dog from man.”

    Family (40-50)
Despite not investing time with the opposite sex other than research he had a very troublesome time forming romantic connections. He was not bad at socializing he just had trouble understanding women and what they wanted; a question he could never answer. He did however spend a few years of his life finding select mates and breeding in order to keep up the family line, and as soon as he could leave the relationship he did. He sought to go back to reading instead of being a true paternal figure, and he spent only around ten years with his various families before he went back to the sixth story of his home.
“She revealed my true sight; my true purpose.”

    Vampirism (50-70)
As he was already fascinated with undeath he was very interested in Vampirism, and he willingly converted to the Anterrin strain when he was convinced by a Saivale vampiress who seduced him with her incredible intellect.

As he formed a deep bond with the Vampiress he would follow her along to various foreign lands such as Ithania, Daendroc, and other landmasses. He studied everything he could from these foreign lands such as history, philosophy and culture. When he wasn’t doing that he was converting their graveyards to undead crypts to continue experimenting.

However, on a fateful night, as he was traveling through an Ithanian port a group of Ithanian ruffians who desired to relieve their sadistic wishes severed him limb from limb and dropped him into the coastal rocks. In suspended death he was thereupon picked up by a fisherman and brought onboard a vessel.

“In the darkness of the seas I saw the light.”

    In the “void” (70-80)
On the ship the Fisherman set him into a heavily weight down containment cell meant for large marine animals that were bought by those wanting exotic sea animals. The cell imitated the sea itself, and it had things like octopus which Isunjae would grow fond of as he thought this dark place with tentacles and darkness, along with shadowy forms was like a perfect rendition of the void according to his view in the dark.

His method of survival was a bit unorthodox as whenever the Fisherman entered in with the help of another person he would force the Fisherman to kill the other man so he could feed off the body in the fish-tank. He held the body in the water with himself for a long enough period of time until the body had lost all blood. This was the most plausible method of survival so he stuck with it.

Time began to become uncountable in his dark containment and he lost the ability to fathom its passing.

“In their houses I sat awaiting my freedom.”

    Shelf-”ornament” (80-130)
When he was sold off to a young man, who was a pretty skilled conman, he was sold off to a pawnshop under the guise of being the skull of a “long lost lord”, and the foolish pawn-lady believed it. When a young child of the noble class perused the aisles and heard the whispers of such a strange object he was purchased. The stepfather was persuaded by the story the pawn-lady told him. He sat above the hearth in their living room.

Using the same tactics as he did in the ship he would feed off the family, and with his echoing, incredibly deepened voice he tried to scare the children when they slept under the hearth. The haunted object whispered to the young child in a bid to manipulate him for his own twisted entertainment.

After a period of time he was sold to a close family by the stepfather as a gift to gain political points, but he really wanted to release the curse onto them.

This process would repeat itself until he made it to his final family which lived more rurally compared to the usual urban families he lived with. He would seize a chance to escape because they were more secluded than the others.

He turned the Eldest Daughter of the family an undead and had her carrying him into the forest until they got to the primary road and he travelled with her to the nearest graveyard. However, she would awaken from his grasp in a terrible fright. He would persuade her to listen to him by capitalizing on her fear, and she eventually succumbed to his wishes as she let him bite her despite him literally being an immobile head.

“No matter how slow I always return to read.”

    The discovery (130-143)
He was brought to the crypt and he settled there as his new home just outside of Regalia as he infected her as an Anterring Sanguine. Despite being usually cold he was warm towards this newly inducted Sanguine and enjoyed sharing his wisdom with her as they both would feed off mourners and Silent Sisters.

After a while he was brought outside of the graveyard and the undead carryer was caught in a bear trap a fair distance away as he was surveying the local flora and fauna. Under the shade of a tree he survived from the sun, but being immobile he could not feed at the edge of the forest. A Sanguine fellow nicknamed Moose would find him, feed him, and become his Second Holder.

Moose would thereupon bring the skull to Regalia to serve his cult as a fountain of knowledge who would answer every question they had and serve as their pet.

    Birth (0)
In the morning an Uncle scribed in the date as October the thirty-first, one-hundred and sixty four AC. One of the large Kathar cities in the Shadow Isles on the third floor of a tower-like home Isunjae Ryiladj Masenjanirai would be born to Mirhradja and Hirtjae along with his twin sister, Adinjae. Due to their mother the fourth letter in their name would be followed with “Jae” When they came out they had many Kathar gathered around them, and their many fathers looked over them as they were brought away from their mother.

    Budding Interest (0-19)
The tower that he grew up in was six stories and he decided to settle on the sixth story with his sister, Hirtjae. There he would begin his library collection with every assortment of literature he could get his hands upon no matter where they came from. He slept in the same room with his sister, and the both of them, living on the sixth floor of the tower had a great view of the surrounding cityscape and sky. There his sister would get on a balcony as Isunjae lounged in a chair reading and she would tumble to her complete destruction on the ground below.

Where others might consider this death a loss Isunjae saw the death of his twin sister as an opportunity to test a theory of his. He gathered her up, he went to his balcony, and he planted her in the soil of a planter so that he might see what flowers grew. This would be one of many theories he tested with both the living and the undead as he sought to continue developing his pool of knowledge.

As a child he would continue to study every book his plethora of fathers brought him and fascinate himself with unlife as he tried to better understand the thin line betwixt life and death.

    Slave to the books. (19-20)
As his increasing interest in the biological processes of people began to grow and his enjoyment of watching the dead decay he would continue to work on studying biology, decay, and the morphology of corruption. He frequented groves of graves, crypts, and morgues along with studying how the slaves of the Dread empire were treated for his own fascination.

He would shut himself in the six floor again, but whenever he left he would study rigor mortis he was looking either to the fungal spread in insects, basic parasitism, or the biology of animals. Pretty much whatever he could get his hands on.

He pretty much spent his time at an armchair in this room spending little time outside apart from studying as he read and remained fairly introvert.

    Continuation (20-40)
From this period of time Isunjae would spend his time doing what he was doing before -- studying. He really spent almost every waking moment of his life studying with the help of his above-average ability of recollection so he saw his memories in a very detailed remembrance. This led him to achieve great things in many areas of thought and he could focus on multiple planes of intellectual thought and excellence such as arts, crafts, and even though he couldn’t perform martial skills he could understand the thought process. However, he also focused on other things such as Madame T’hoterie, musical theory, architecture and how to properly cook lamb ribs along with building smoke-houses and kilns.

In order to better serve his own kind he learned the thought processes of other cultures, religions, military formations and even their own personal history so he could view their most corruptible parts. He spent many years of his life locked away in his room reading or out on the field too focused for anything else.

He was often related to “A princess locked in the tower”.

    Family (40-50)
Despite being a primarily asexual being who did not truly seek out any sort of romance or connection with females he decided it was time for him to at the very least use the skills of seduction he had read about. He would not be very strong, but he would use his other attributes such as eloquent speech and his abilities as a delightful conversationalist to woo and get women interested in carrying his child. The only reason he sought this out was to learn more about the opposite sex first hand and provide himself with a lineage on an instinct. He would find a few women, being that he was polyamorous and this was the best chance they would be pregnant with his seed, and he would bone around in the hopes of a pregnancy. For ten years thereafter he did this, and although he did have a few children he travelled between them to learn not about them as people but as test subjects.

He studied his children, how they reacted and what they did and was a pretty apathetic father all in all. When he concluded his first was ten years old, and Isunjae left him to continue studying.

    Vampirism (50-70)
Being fascinated with the Undead already and the corruption of natural processes under Malady he would of course also share a fascination for unlife and Vampirism. He willingly converted himself into an Anterrin sanguine with the help of a much older Saivale vampiress who brought him to study at her library which was based in a plethora of burial grounds.

He would leave the dread isles behind with the vampiress, who he would form a deep bond with and move land from land as the Sanguine he became. He studied the various lands of Ithania, Daen and wherever else she would take him to learn more of their culture and philosophies, but more importantly their secrets and corruptibility. He spent his times watching from their graveyards as he converted their dead into servants to watch over the libraries where he would continue to come back to after experimenting.

He spent many of his years simply moving in between the many crypts within his Sanguine coven of Anterrin, drinking from cattle and reading everything he desired from the Books of the Dead.

However, as Isunjae would move to travel to an Ithanian port he was taken by a group of men in the night, who upon learning he was a Sanguine, cut him limb from limb and tossed him into the nearby coastal rocks.

As he spent a few hours converting to unlife through his Vampiric ability a fisherman hooked him from a sea-vessel and took him aboard as Isunjae held his suspended guise of complete death. This fisherman would be one of the men on the ship who would become victim to Isunjae as an undead.

    In the “void” (70-80)

On the ship Isunjae took to hiding in a back room in the hull of the deck, though not by choice. The Fisherman set him into a large, chained down containment cell which was used to hold large aquatic animals for exotic travel which was an imitation of the sea itself. While the containment cell did not have any sort of predatory being on the inside it had things such as octopi and fish larger than the average skull so the Undead Isunjae thought he was in some sort of other dimension when he awoke from his deathly slumber. He saw tentacles, “giant” fins and beasts in the dark which moved by him. He felt their movement and saw them just barely as the place was kept mostly dark.

He happened to survive through a somewhat unorthodox fashion. The Fisherman would fish to keep populating the aquatic environment, for what Isunjae assumed was his own fascination, and whenever more than one sort of person came into his presence he would turn the fisherman undead for a period of time and have him kill the other person so he could feed off the body for a long period of time without worry. This would become a popular method of survival for Isunjae as he systematically killed people with his undead minions in order to survive in the containment he shared with the marine beasts.

As he spent such long periods of time in the containment cell time itself grew to be something he could no longer fathom, and he would just spend his time surviving day by day even though he couldn’t tell them apart.

    Shelf-”ornament” (80-130)
After the boat reached port in Regalia Isunjae was unloaded along with the fish and eventually landed in a pawnshop for a good amount of money as he was the “skull of a long lost lord” as the salesman said when the foolish pawn-lady bought him for an exorbitant price. As a young child would peruse the aisles, clearly of a higher lineage, they settled upon the skull of Isunjae which spoke to the child in little whispers and convinced him to purchase such an object. Once the father was told the story of the skull, which was made up by the savvy salesman, the high-class buyers brought him to their estate in which he sat on a stone hearth above the roaring fire in their living room.

Isunjae would use his abilities whenever alone to feed upon the individuals of the house and keep himself sustained, which would thereafter give him the credibility of a haunted object. He would sometimes disappear from the stone hearth when in reality he merely melded into the object causing the owners to believe him to be haunted. Isunjae could easily manipulate the young child with whispers, and mostly did this for his own twisted enjoyment.

Eventually he would be resold to another close family as a gift, but in reality it was a political gift to gain favor and relieve their family of the curse Isunjae brought upon them.

He would go through a long circuit of families before he made it to his final family. His final family happened to live a bit secluded as they were more off in the wilderness whereas the others were more urban-based so he would take this chance to turn one of the family members undead and escape.

His escape, however, was poor in execution. He turned the eldest daughter undead and had her walk him outside of the fenced perimeter and into the forest where they would move parallel with the main road until they could reach the nearest graveyard. But with his limited control on how long he could hold her under his grasp she would take him about a quarter of the way to the cemetery before dropping out of his grasp in the forests. She would awaken from his control with little memory as she carried his skull, frightful.

Soon after his voice would persuade her to listen to him -- and while this whole scenario was scary for her she was a fool to succumb to her inner fear and simply follow along with him as he would not only infect her, but convince her to continue carrying him to the nearest crypt.

    The Discovery (130-143)
The daughter would bring him to the crypt under her intense fear for the talking skull, and he would name her his first ‘Holder’ which was simply the title of someone who held him. Upon arriving at the catacomb-like graveyards he would settle in to his new home just outside of Regalia and a few small villages. He set out to create his own sort of undead library like he had seen with many others with his new second Anterrin Sanguine. Despite being a fairly cold individual he felt warmth with this inductee to the Sanguine curse and enjoyed sharing with her a lot of his advice and wisdom as they survived off mourning folks and Silent Sisters.

While he spent many years in this new home he would eventually be carried outside of the bounds with the help of an undead who held him, and he was surveying the lands at night when his undead had its leg caught in a bear trap causing him to be dropped in the forest. Because he was just a skull he was immobile and could no longer feed or anything of the like. With the shade of trees he stayed hidden at the trunk of one of the many trees at the edge of the forest, and before he could starve of thirst for blood a fellow Sanguine, nicknamed Moose, would revive him and become his Second Holder.

With his Second Holder Isunjae shared his crypt, and was eventually brought in to Regalia to serve a cult as a fountain of knowledge for every question they wished answered.

Currently he serves the cult and wishes to create a new catacomb-home within the bounds of the Crown City.
