Meanwhile in the strait between both the Kreiburg and Mac Conall occupied Islands, Division Admiral Abelhard Latimer alongside fresh Wing Admiral Violetta de Piedmont. The plan was simple, Abelhard will sail into the Southern bay and attempt to use overwhelming fire to push the Sendrassians further up the strait while Wing Admiral de Piedmont signals a waiting fleet to crush the Sendrassian Navy from the North, destroying the 20 Warship strong enemy fleet completely. As per the plan, Abelhard alongside his cadet captain Muzhu Mai-Vyzal organised the primary Regalian attack fleet comprising of 1 Anglian Naughtknight, 2 Second Line Calembergs, 5 Girobaldin Fregats and 4 personal ships up the straight, alerting the Sendrassian Fleet to their presence. 5 Sendrassian Corvus and 7 Sendrassian Galleys came to intercept but soon began a retreat at the sight of the Naughtknight and the grand fleet that followed the Division Admiral.

Consequent and assisting Latimer from behind was Wind Admiral Violetta de Piedmont, a rather green Admiral on the Marshal Cabinet with her first major battle about to unfold. She was however far from alone in the endeavor, accompanied by a fleet of 5 Girobaldin Fregats, 2 Calemberg Third Liners, 3 Anglian Frigates and seven personal ships, captained by an array of notable skippers both her family and others. The first volleys of cannonfire rang out and echoed throughout the narrow island strait, all to the tune of loud exclamations of “Fire!” from Anne, Noelle and Victane de Piedmont. Their ships glided effortlessly through the waves, leaving naught but splinters of parts of the Sendrassian Galleys they had hit in their wake. So far, the plan was working and what could be seen of the fleet was indeed making its way North and into the trap that had been set.

The Medics aboard their ships, most notably Caedmon Sudrach and Anra’en Mian-fe watched from the quarterdeck as clusters of Regalian Girobaldin Fregats pursued the Sendrassian galleys and skirmished with their Corvus vessels, not daring to get too close for risk of being boarded. Both Victane and Anne did extremely well, their cannonfire picking off a couple of fleeing ships whilst ensuring the rest of the Sendrassian flotilla was corralled North to be pushed and clumped together with the rest of the force. However, things were less than optimistic for Captain Noelle de Piedmont, who whilst combatting one of the Sendrassian Corvus vessels, had the bowsprit of her ship struck with return fire; shrapnel of wooden splinters embedding in her right abdomen and leaving her grievously wounded and unconscious, forcing her crew to man the helm and fall back to get her the medical attention she needed. Admiral de Piedmont was performing well it seemed, and she gazed out over her fleet which was expertly holding the flanks of the line thus far and providing support for Division Admiral Latimer’s main firepower which was yet to be unleashed. Even Tim Borros, who stood beside Violetta as her personal bodyguard could not deny that the Admirals tactic had been pulled off much better than one would have expected.

Back upon the Anglian Nautknight, Wing Admiral Latimer watched the Sendrassian movements with his spyglass extended, somewhat expecting or concerned that something would go wrong. After all, the progress thus far had gone off without a hitch, and he certainly had become used to anything but this. His concerns would not go unfounded for when the Regalian Naval force had pushed the Galleys half way into the strait, the Sendrassian fleet's flagship, a large destroyer, Flytende Apokalypse class, made its appearance from its slowly appearing Foremast and Mizzen in the distance. De Piedmonts' support immediately engaged, with Daedra Friskeno and Athalon Desryl turning to their right between the Latimer vessels, nestling well enough away from them to fire volley after volley of cannon fire at the hulking Sendrassian Flagship. Their shots hit their mark and in a matter of moments, hundreds of Sendrassian Lindworms, or flying serpents as they had been known, ascended into the sky and beelined for the Regalian ships. A small, devious smirk pulled at the corner of Latimer’s lips as he raised his hand, palm erect and flat as he readied Mosmo Duviri and their regiment aboard their ship, all of which were equipped with bows and supported by Pavisa Crossbowmen. As the creatures made their swift descent upon the Anglian Nautknight, Latimer lowered his hand and signalled for his ranged units to fire, a storm of arrows blackening the horizon as hundreds of lindworms were struck and plummeted into the ocean below. Any that managed to weather the projectiles were quickly dispatched by the likes of Sibyllad Lykke and Sakeena Al’Raqe with expert levels of martial skill.

The Sendrassian fleet began to turn to head back up the strait and out to sea as both Admirals had predicted. Abelhard then gave the signal to his crows nest and with one swift motion, Jasper Cassim launched a large, bright flare into the sky which sparkled a glowing crimson red to alert the other half of Wing Admiral de Piedmont’s fleet to move into position. Within minutes, multiple ships, primarily Anglian Fluyts swerved around the bend and beelined straight for the retreating fleet. The size of the ships startled the Sendrassians, as these were mere merchant class vessels with no cannons and very little defences. Unable to fire upon them however, the Fluyts hunkered into position while Violetta ordered her ships to fire upon them. As the cannonballs breached the ships hulls, all of the Fluyts exploded and brought destruction upon all of the nearby Sendrassian ships, including the flagship itself. In a flash, 14 of the Sendrassian ships had been blown to pieces with no chance of repair.

Only the flagship and a handful of Corvus vessels remained afloat, but even that was not to last long. Superseding the Fluyts, Latimer and de Piedmonts final ace card was played as a Rim Isle Firestriker intercepted what remained of the enemy force, loud, wooden creaking emanating from the front of the ship as cranks manned by dozens of men and women opened the front of the ship up to allow an array of fire mages to begin casting upon the fleeing Sendrassian vessels. The enemy had been completely cut off and left at the mercy of the Regalian captains. Sailing into position, Eshkar, Sa’eeb, Rond’e Gamal and Sylvia Latimer turned hard to starboard and unleashed in unison of vollay of devastating cannonfire that obliterated what remained of the damaged Sendrassian fleet, destroying them and sinking them to the bottom of the sea. The outstanding victory sent shockwaves across all of Latimer and de Piedmonts vessels with practically every crewman erupting into cheers and cries of victory. Undoubtedly the most successful Naval excursion thus far, the Skirmish in the Mozzh Strait was a truly significant victory for Regalia and to date, Latimer and de Piedmonts’ Magnum Opus military engagement, with not a Regalian ship sunk.

Elsewhere in the South, Wing Admiral Tehrathel Availleia’s fleet of 20 ships, made up of an array of differing ship types readied themselves in formation between the Island provinces of Bexestaan and Churguzz. The Admiral’s intent with this particular movement differed from Latimer and de Piedmont in the North in that his plan was purely a defensive one to hold the Westernmost Isles. The fleet did not however remain in unison when it reached its destination, splitting so that Gwendolyn Black could take 5 Girobaldan Fregats, 2 Silverwind Caravals and 1 Anglian Frigate off the coast of the Churguzz and rounding the Eastern shore and into the nearby waters of Zzonzeer. Gwendolyn was accompanied by her own rag tag crew, consisting of Nae’vyre as the chief navigator and Marisa Solisti, a captain for one of the Silverwind Caraval ships. Their mission proved successful as they came upon the Island of Zzondaal. The seas were curiously quiet with the only movement in the area being that of local fishing boats and merchant vessels, something that Gwendolyn complained to her bodyguard Batu about, egregiously, all the way back to the Wing Admiral. They were however able to report to the Wing Admiral that the fleet that had been reported on the week before off the coast of Ulzzamt had grown by at least 12 more Corvus. Atop the Quarterdeck, the Wing Admiral alongside Fennan Solaveira and Wesley Crawford observed Black’s return, expecting to move into action soon. However, this would not come to pass as Gwendolyn had little to report. Thus, the Regalian Fleet simply maintained its defensive position for the time being.
