Hey guys,
If you can read, then yes, this thread is about RP Musicians. (If you can't read, how did you manage to get to the page? ... Nevermind.)
Anyway, here's a small section about them, and things to do with them.

Lol u n00b there's no instruments #YOLOSWAG4LYFE
First off, please don't try to be gangster. Now that's out of the way, the instruments are usually RP. Many other people use strategies to explain their instruments if they're not actually physically represented, like just having it with them at all times.

Hey, I bet I'd be the best, and be automatically famous.
Nope. You'll need to work hard and get gigs and stuff, like all of us.

I'll just go and act famous anyway.
Well, prepare to be laughed at when no-one knows who the heck you are.

Can I sing my favourite IRL song?
No. As far as I know, that's breaking the 4th wall. Write everything original, and nothing too modernised. Rock would be acceptable, as it's a ranged music, but dubstep would never work.

Sounds like too much work.
That's why only the most dedicated musicians really make it.

Hey, can I book anyone?
Well, Silver himself can be booked for cheap prices (as soon as he makes more than just the one song), but there are probably more RP musicians out there. (If you're reading, tell me and I'll make a list. RP name, IG name and instruments, please :P)

CURRENT LIST:
Captain Silver Albatross (SilverAlbatross)- Vocals
Lysander la Rue (Ben_2025)- Pianist
(I suspect to add Aria Somnia and xXFallenNinjaXx soon, haha.)

Hay d00d be in mah band
No. Most of us either work independently, or are looking for more well-known to collaborate with (or people who can spell properly).

I want an original idea, what should I do?
There aren't many drummers. Maybe try to do something with that? Also, try to explore music types too.

How does playing in RP work?
As far as I know, there are 2 ways.
  1. Every few minutes, remind everyone you're playing "a sad tune on the guitarophone drum-harmonica."
  2. Type lyrics and what type of tune you're playing in chat. For example;
Singer; These are lyrics, and they barely rhyme!
Violinist; (Speeds up tune to match faster vocals, as they approach the end of this verse)
Singer; Perhaps I should stop this verse and try another time!
Why not just say -Plays Tune-?
We prefer to use specifics, as not to make our characters look unprofessional or anything. This also adds realism.

How do I get started?
I myself did some free gigs at places to build my reputation. Then, I advertised my work slightly. Then, I did some events for hire. I got a bit of money, and boom. Now I'm an up-and-coming musician.

But you said you only have one son-
MOVE ON AGAIN

Any other questions will be added if they deserve an answer, or details will be added if I forget. Hopefully this should give an insight into the music world, and encourage you to join the business, if you feel like putting in the work. Who knows, maybe one day we'll knock Stal off the top of the charts, haha. Rock on Aloria,
-SA

Galen Rose, if it was stupid I wouldn't have spent about 3 or so years learning on how to play it, with my own time :P ahh bass sounds. They love me. No, seriously...

Galen Rose, I got ya beat. I can sing bass even WITHOUT an instrument. Best part, I'm 13, and my voice is still changing. Don't beleive me? Talk to me on teamspeak :P

I can't sing. I play electric bass (somewhat) and electric guitar (not bass, who cares), and every valve brass instrument (trumpet, cornet, tuba, baritone).

Nice thread. But, I'd like to point out, that as an experienced guitarist/studio engineer, this bit hurts my soul :P
If I drew it, you'd understand what I meant. It's quite a complex design.
You have sparked my interest. This may be something I look in to.
Good, I'm glad I sparked off some interest from this.

And Galen Rose and Toxiclord: Are you IC or not? Just tell me if I should add you to the list.

Some of this is a nice idea, some not. For instance, the way you've created this makes it seem to modernised and less medieval, which ruins the role-play or changes it. If you were some sort of musical joker, or a musician of medieval instruments and tunes, than that is different. Drums, guitars, Rock Genre, etc, is just irrelevant to this server.
I would suggest making tunes to do with the races, etc, as your career.
E.g "They stomped one, stomped twice, stumped at the waste, these men known by all, as the smallish dwarf. They came from far and they came from wide, men of the mountain, seen never in sight."

The rock music is more of a style, and there were still drums and guitars. The drums were usually on their own, and the guitars were actually usually just lutes, but rock's a descriptive term more than a modernisation. As for making songs specifically about races, that's suppressing the creative ability some people have, e.g. if someone wants to make a song about, say, a lost love to do with their RP.

I can strongly vouch that rock wasn't a term used in the middle English Era, nor the thought. When I said about the race, I only mean't that as a idea rather then some idiot coming out with a modern rock song in a medieval era.
What I mean by all this is, if musicians is something that should be used in this server, it should be set as a theme for Ale swinging, Men singing, stomping their feet in a Tavern or bar. Rather then a belt out concert.
When I think musicians in the Medieval fantasy way, I think Dwarves singing tunes about their mines and halls, Elves playing flutes about nature and wisdom, Humans singing of hard work days in a local Tavern, and Orc rawring of breaking bones and rotten flesh.

But the point I'm trying to make is that rock won't mean "I GOT A HIGH MCMMO YEAAAAAAAAAAAA"
I mean it will simply be the sound, or style. You can't surpress creativity :P

But it lacks originality.... Why not create a new genre? Like Fellow music or something that suits the theme of this server, because as much as you try to make "your" rock into something different, people will still see it in a "Head throwing, Fist pumping fashion".

Wrong. If you listened to any of my songs (or drafts), only one is remotely aggressive. There are many types of rock, including styles of rock centred around romance music and various other topics.

Well that could be done by multiple people, making an orcestra of awesome. Just putting out ideas.

I'll admit, it's a good concept, but easily griefable and would take too long or too many people to make.

Didn't you say it takes hard work and dedication to be a musician?

As said above, that kind of hard work would require either three days of constantly setting up note blocks (which could easily be changed around by a griefer) or a team of 50+ players. That "hard work" is near impossible.

Yes, basic redstone where you need hundreds of valuable note blocks that can be edited to sound completely different with just a few seconds of random right clicking.
You could find a million reasons why not to do it. A dedicated musician would find a way to make it work. I'd even be willing to help you set it up.

Yeah, replace musician with Bard or Minstrel, and it sounds good :3. (See what I did there?)
