I'm not sure if this belongs in general, or Whatever, so go ahead and move it, because I'm really not sure >_< sorry.
Anyways,
So, I love roleplaying Kay'?
and I also really enjoy making characters (although, I haven't got a single bit of originality in me :l)
and I suck at making up stories :l
as a result, I'm unable to make a roleplay character because they have to have mega long stories, and they gotta' be original (not sure why on the original part... What if someone just wanted to be a common farmer? with a normal life?... Meh'.) D:

So, are you still aloud to roleplay without a character?
and, if anyone wants to help me make a character (Coz' I'm too stupid to think up cool stuff on my own >_<) send me a message or something :D

Also, if you've experienced similarities to this, post about it in this thread :)

My resent character was REJECTED (god, can't it just be a polite 'no, sorry' xD nah, I jk)
Because I failed to 'improve' them... but I suck at that >_< and I wasn't really able to improve him, without being something other than an elven ranger (because that's unoriginal :( )

So yeah. that's really it >_<
Post your opinion on this :) (if people with no originality in character making should still get a chance to rp or not, and if you've experienced similar stoof :3 aaand, if you'd like to help me make one >-<)

It needs to be 3+ paragraphs, if you can't do that, just don't submit one.

I find that the more people that make characters, the less chance of originality there is. I think copying a little bit is okay, but you cant go and make an assassins creed type character because that is unoriginal.

Few things you need to understand mate. Don't take this to hearted.
  • The Admin, Staff, Mods job is to act according to fairness, equality together. Therefore, majority of the time, they will treat you the same as anyone else. You should take that under consideration when you feel they are being harsh.
  • There is certain requirements with Rp profiles, that's why they are known as 'Strict', not 'easy'. Mods spend a lot of their time correcting, helping to improve work for YOU, not for themselves. They couldn't give two squats if they had to look at a terrible Introduction everyday, but it's just what they have to do, for the community.
  • If you want to be a plain character, nothing huge or anything, Good on you. I actually prefer characters with this, or else we would have too many Lords, Kings, Knights, etc. But everyone has something to Elaborate on. A Farmer is still born therefore has parents, and grows up in a particular unique way to everyone else, to shape their personality.

  • The Sign Rejected or anything else is made to be DIRECT. Beating are the bush, so to speak, being like 'No, sorry' is both less formal, and mis-leading. It diminishes the Authority role and respect would not be shown.
  • Just because you say 'you suck at' creating a in-depth character is irrelevant. They have a role to place, and it's not according or going to change because of one person disagreeing.
This isn't suppose to be harsh or anything, it's just suppose to give you a fair understanding of things. Try your best to improve your story, listen to Mods advice, even ask me or someone else to read over it for you and give suggestions if need be. Good luck.

Yup as I predicted...you got rejected.
You refuses to change/edit your story and the result it that
(facepalm) I didn't refuse. at no point did I say I wasn't going to edit it >:l I only said I was joking about what the admin said was 'whining'
I'm a little annoyed that it was denied before I could edit it :l But I'm letting that go Ā¬_Ā¬

That meaning is called refuses and don't joke around with Admins I don't think it's funny...sometimes it's annoying

Well, one way to ensure originality is to make your character similar to how you are in life. Maybe add in a small detail or two. As for making up stories, think of the base of your character, start with family, friends, home, and then add an event that makes him want/need to set off to Regalia (since that's where you first appear in the world). Add in detail as you see fit and if you have issues with it, there have been some people that have helped write out a more detailed backstory for rejected characters. As for originality, I'm an elf that is equally versed in all weapons (Though he's not a master of all since that would be God RP and that is just unacceptable), so I'm sure you can find something that works great with your character.

You know you can still edit it after it is denied and then represent it. It's not like they reject the possibility of ever having this character accepted you know.

There is a difference between copying/unoriginality and INSPIRATION! If you have a character with retracing blades on their arms and a hood, that is obviously a copy of a character. However, lets say you are taking INSPIRATION! from, say, Bilbo Baggins. Now, hobbits don't exist in our world, so that'll be a bust. Furthermore, if you make a character who goes on a quest with a bunch of dwarves to sneak past a dragon and reclaim "our lonngggg, forgotten goldddd", that is again copying.

However, lets say you make an orc character. It is a general stereotype of orcs that physical capability and brute strength is valued in their society. What if you make an orc that, while compared to a puny elf he was strong, compared to other orcs he was always sub-par. His parents were ashamed of him, and other orcs mocked him. Let's say in this particular orc tribe there is a coming of age test in which you have to travel into a nearby cave system that is known to be flooded with monsters, and bring back some sort of trophy, like the eye of a spider or something, to prove you are a capable fighter. Our weak little orc protagonist was thinking about running away, because he didn't think he could kill it. However, he decides that he would rather die trying to prove himself than run away. (with the exception of LOTR itself, I believe that a general orc stereotype is they are very proud, and have a high sense of personal value) So our brave little orc goes to the caves, and using his wit and sneaky tactics, manages to best the monsters. He then returns to home with the newfound respect of his fellow orcs, and becomes a proud member of the community.

If you read over that story, it is not incredibly similar to my original INSPIRATION! of Bilbo Baggins. But there are many similarities, I just veiled them in with combinations of my own new plot. His mocking orc peers are the dwarves. Despite not even going on the journey with him, they original thought nothing of him, that he was just a weak little orc, but then our protoganist orc gained their respect through completing the trial that they had all undergone before, despite him using different tactics. The hesitation in the middle was created from Bilbo's own hesitation at embarking on the journey in the first place.

Now, the story I created was rather drab, as I didn't put a whole lot of thought into it, and I just sort of made it up as I went along. But it is relatively easy to make an original character. Remember, original doesn't mean "my character is immortal and can shoot fire. Can any of you do that?". The originality that I value is in personality, and the general story that the character went through.

I made my Character's first and last name. I also imagined what he looked like, but he originally looked very different when I imagined such a character in 5th grade, so I continually changed him. The planet Seransic lived on at first was CALLED Faitoshi, and the antagonist was Rejurtik. I sort of let them go down, and Seransic came back to life when I made my second Roleplay introduction.

I'll help you .-. Anywho you can make just a common farmer but even a common farmer has his own special traits, maybe he's a good dance or singer or writer, does he want to be a farmer? Or does he want to be something else and he was stuck with that job? There is a bunch you can do with your character and still have him be a simple person. Having a normal character isn't un-original infact its what the moderators like (from what I've read) but you still have to make your character interesting if you know what I mean.

Though you may not have an approved character yet, you can still rp on the server with the character you do have, given that it's lore-compliant even if underdeveloped. Maybe through doing that you'll learn about things you'd like to keep as part of your character and you can write that down.
