News bulletin from the Regalian Chronicle

The tranquility of the Regalian Archipelago is disturbed as news from the Duchy of Irma, southwest of the Regalian main Isle reach the capital. Following the granting of the Barony of Saolo Pedros, the locals have started rioting against the rule of the D'Morte family that rule the Duchy.

Local peasants are outraged over the granting of a Barony to an unwed Half Elven commoner girl with no noble blood or any public recognition. The riots started early after a unionist mass at the Santa Justiniano church in Saolo Pedros where priests openly spoke against the rule of the Duke, spreading from the lower bowels of the city to the higher areas. Several shops were burned and the city became inaccessible for several hours until the army moved in and pacified the population.

Protests later sparked in Vietro, San Viente and Irma itself, outburts of the local population of Daendroque Barcal who have always been known to be very anti Elven and believe strongly in the Unionist faith. Zahren as the only Regalish stronghold in the region, stayed peaceful. Meanwhile on the other side, Dressolini locals expressed discontent about their count being the subject of such a questionable individual and some even raised in favor of their Count seizing back independence.

The State Council came together for the first time in an emergency meeting
(It actually happened in semi RP situation) and came to the following resolution read out by the Chairman:

"The destabilization of Irma concerns us, and we have decided to use our executive governance in accordance with the Emperor's will to resolve the situation. The 12th and 14th Naval detachment are to be sent to the Duchy, to send in Naval Marines for the continuation of military order. The Baroness of Saolo Pedros is to be removed with the Imperial prerogative. Count Oreisio of the Dressolini County will be asked to preside over the Barony to ensure order is restored. As soon as order is restored, governance of the Barony will be returned to the D'Morte family. Meanwhile, the State Council has deemed it prudent to place the Duke, Ser Alexiel D'Morte under house arrest for destabilizing the realm's peace, and the costs of fielding the 12th and 14th Naval detachment will be brought to bear by the D'Morte family's wealth."

The State Council's directives are executed immediately upon the announcement.

"I wonder what the riots were like in Fong's Barony when he gave it to a Maiar." Latro mused to himself before leaving the board and ignoring the gossip.

Lanaskan blinked at the note that his Regalian spy had sent him and said "Why do I care about this? They detachments are not weak enough to be destroyed without any trace so this is useless." He then moved onto the other news of the week.

Ulric leaned back in his chair. His books lined the shelves neatly, and the Typhonus banner hung silently to his right. Only a few moments ago, the bulletin had been delivered to him by his loyal servant Vici, who had quickly slipped out of the room. Ulric scratched his goatee, reading through the final paragraph before laying it back onto his desk. "Who's bloody brilliant idea was this..? A half Elf acting as a baron..?" Having missed the Council meeting, he was not present to make a verdict. However, in this case, Ulric agreed with what was decided. "I had assumed D'Morte knew better.." Seeing as Alexiel was a supporter of the now disbanded Iron Bulwark, Ulric had assumed his views on non-humans weren't so... Foolish. But in any case, what's done is done. Ulric set the letter aside, and summoned Vici to make him a cup of tea.

A letter is sent to the State Council, the letter is from the Count Angelo Viviana Oreisio of Dressolini.

    Dear State Council members,

I am now aware of the riots that are occurring in the Barony of Saolo Perdos, and what is now spreading into Irma. I shall not let my neighbors of my county, and my home Irma face this tragedy! The Duke has yet to proven himself as to be committed to his people, and has now put a half eleven commoner, who doesn't a drop of noble blood, and no public acknowledg
ment to power over the Barony of Saolo Pedros, and it's grand people. By this I shall now take administration (order) over this magnificent Barony and it's people and assist in returning it to order, and rebuild its public status.

On this subject, I shall thus go to visit the Barony of Saolo Pedros, and talk to leaders of these small and honorable communities, and help to set the order that is needed. I shall bring not personal guards, but payed laborers with me on this trip, on helping to rebuild homes, shops, and other such establishments effected by riots, as well as food and water shall be shipped. In rebuilding, all costs shall come from my family. As seeing this isn't a cost that should be payed by the good citizens, but from a Count who should of gave more assistance. As well I shall fund into the
Santa Justiniano church, and other Unionist churches of this Barony, Saolo Perdos.

    Sincerely,

Angelo Viviana Oreisio, Count of Dressolini

Alexiel looks over the bulletin, taking in slowly what was said about him. The house-arrest he currently sat under was infuriating and he was insulting himself for being so ignorant 'Bloody Void, what have I done,' he would ask himself, stroking the fine beard he had trimmed only just this morning. The normal silence of the House had been disrupted and his serene garden had been trampled by the guard in numerous places. Simply infuriating. Going immediately to his writing desk, Alexiel drew out a piece of parchment, as well as a quill and a bottle of his finest ink. Drafting the letter he had written this:

    To The State Council,

The house arrest is understandable in the entirety, this fault was brought about because of an abnormally strong liquor as well as mine own ignorant generosity. Footing the bill for our valiant nautical warriors in the 12th and 14th Nautical detachment is more than acceptable as a pre-punishment to what I will surely be charged of afterwards. We, as the House D'Morte, are more than happy to foot the bill, and then some. We, as a House, take full responsiblity

As to the dis-stabilization of the Duchy of Irma, I will visit the good people myself if the Council will grant me that honor. I believe that their duke, if I can still abstain to that title, would calm their spirits with the reassurance that it will not happen again. Though I will go under heavy guard, as mine own scraps of intelligence tells me that some will not take calmly to my entrance into the baronies.

    Signed And Sealed,
Alexiel Alistair Alduos Of House D'Morte

Stepping out from behind his desk, Alexiel went to the window, the knowledge that he couldn't leave resting heavily on his chest like a death sentence. The blow was crushing to his pride and his ego. 'Damned Non-Humans.' The words escaped his lips like a crippling poison; he had never cursed the peoples before. Perhaps the power had gone to his head.

    OOC Response:

I suppose I should have seen this coming, eheh... -rubs the back of his neck quietly- I suppose giving Sweets the barony was a bad idea in the first place, but hey, I'm a generous person. As to Alexiel's situation, I am not really sure how to absolve it. I know virtually nothing about my duchy and this that had been said to me by @ravenwolfthorn
'but we already had it in place that any non-human barons would not be tolerated by the people outside of the Rim Isles.' In all honesty it is my belief, as well as that of a few others, that lack of communication, as well as my own lack of inquiry, is to blame for this. Both IC and OOC I will take full responsibility for the actions and will abstain to any punishment you see fit. From this incident I would like to learn more about Irma, seeing as I knew so little, I would love to know all that I can to ensure better judgement in the future.

Not that I like elves, but I think that's kind of an overreaction compared to other famous prejudicial acts...
I mean "Burning shops?" are these people two year olds? Racism requires death and hatred to grow, not destruction.
Where are the other elves mentioned in all of this? Why the heck aren't they doing anything?

And for Regalia to cave in to the pressure of a riot? I am ashamed of you.

I don't remember seeing that man around town and I don't like the cut of his jib. I think a review of his whole family's legal status is in order. Please have him and his whole family report to the Regalian Immigration office within 2 business days for REEDUCATION.

Anyway, what a shame that people were hurt and property destroyed due to such a lack of leadership. I hope some military intervention will solve the problem quickly.

Lysander sat at the desk in his study absently penning in work on a new score, the paperwork he had been issued over the movement of the La Rue navy to the isle of Sagreba completed for the day. It was only a few minutes in and the news bulletin had been delivered to him by a polite woman, entering with a quiet ease, that he had in his employ. Upon scanning over the writing he could not help but bring a relieved smile to his face.

"What a fool, well I can hardly say that the man deserves no less. Indeed, perhaps it is best that ignorant and vulgar D'Morte get an ounce of comeuppance for his disgraceful attack at me."

Lysander, having finished musing over the turn of good fortune over his enemy's current political status, would turn back to the servant who was diligently waiting to be dismissed again. He would take out a sheet of paper and upon it would pen a letter to Ulric Typhonus concerning Lysander's current desire to meet with him to discuss his opinion of the D'Morte. Not wanting to continue his feuding for much longer, Lysander would hope that the lack of sympathy the D'Morte's would inevitably receive in these coming weeks would force Alexiel to consider Lysander's terms in a more serious manner.

Handing the letter to the servant, Lysander turned back to his work, his smile hadn't faltered. He presumed this was his first triumph, although there must be more work to be done, he would think.

Damien runs his hands through his hair, wondering what issues have arisen now as he observes a decent crowd, surrounding the billboard outside the Regalian Tavern. He approaches it, scanning through the content, softly whistling at the news, murmuring, "Hmph..and this is what happens when you hand something like that to a something. Such matters are only supposed to be dealt with by someones."

    The Montgomery Manor Construction Zone;

Ellenore grabs the letter out of the hands from one of her servants. Whilst standing in the unfinished mansion garden she mumbles something about the content of the letter.

'Milady? What do you think about this?' The architect asks, holding big blueprints and placing some paintings on the table.

As Ellenore doesn't respond to his question, he asks again, being faced with an closed fan to his throat. 'Mind being quiet you fool, for this is more important than this garden!' Within seconds Ellenore walks inside, through the unpainted doors.

'Benedict! Order my fleet to sail to the duchy of Irma! Pack them with bread and other kinds of food! Now!' Ellenore yells, looking up to the stairs where her vice president stands.

'These people have suffered underneath the rule of alexiel... He always was so nice.' She mumbles, whilst passing her writer.
    'Joannah, dictate me, now.'

To the Regalian Chronicle, I Lady Montgomery the Second would like to send these poor people some he...'

I have no intention of suporting the ideas of Alexiel nor the Population which rebelled against the Duke. But help is needed and I am willing to offer that.

My ships are ready to leave port, and will be escorted by the Eendracht. I will awaot your letter.

    With high hopes,

    Geraint Ap Llewellyn
Geraint pores carefully over the particular article, the mention of the Church alerting him to the story. Though he cares little for politics, his keen moral sense directed him to the story. Though he previously believed the D'Morte family to be morally sound, if a little odd, that now stands to question with him. Giving it a second read, he considers his own stance on the situation; of course he will not preach against a Duchal family, he may be able to make a point of their morals indirectly. He muses rather loudly, "A noble really ought to have learnt such fundamental lessons before entering an important role. I must beg the question, what sort of message must it send? I will speak to the man if I see him, though we have had no prior engagements, I'm sure, given the circumstances, he'll be willing enough to talk to a man of the church." Geraint turned aside to his brother, "What say you, Caleb?"

~~[From the desk of Leopold Kade]~~
    Addressed to Countess Ellenore Montgomery;

The council thanks you for your enthusiasm, and your readiness to navally and militarily occupy another Duchy has been duly noted.

However, the Duchy of Irma is to remain the prerogative of the Empire and Count Angelo Oreisio, who has been chosen for his proximity to the conflict and greater ability to provide land support, as we have little to no need for naval support that cannot be provided by the Imperial fleet.

Once again, we thank you for your enthusiasm, and assure you that the conflict in Irma shall see a swift resolution.

-Councilman Leopold Kade, Royal Financier to the Empire, Exchequer of Regalia, Duke of Dorinn, Count of the Dorian Wall, Baron of Reading, Grisalda, Zuckenbirge and East Dorinn.

The letter is sealed in purple wax stamped with the symbol of the Office of The Financier.

Duchess Sylvia Pileran had but simply just enlowered herself before a fine wood grain desk, one of the mahogany variant. After attending the meeting with regards to the uproar in Irma, she had figured it would be "correct" to address a bulletin to the citizens of Regalia, and including those of Alberta Shores.

Consigned to the dear citizens of Regalia, and those of fair Alberta Shores,

It is with great regard that I wish to remind each of you over the importance of well-chosen thought. Foolish decisions as those made within Irma are the very reasoning behind why such careful patterns of reasoning should be followed. I am quite disgusted with the uproar, and perhaps more so with the fact behind such.

Rest assured that I, Sylvia Pileran, shall do everything in my wake to provide sanction and security for those affected by this tragedy. We shall work to a solution, and prevent this and such behaviour from trickling over to Regalia, or Emperor-forbid, Alberta Shores!

    Signed,

Benedict Rushes to the Regalian harbor, and hires a dockworker to go on a Montgomery Ship to buy 1,000 loaves of bread in Fenderfall. The money is given to the captain to buy the cheapest food he can in Valeen. Meanwhile, Benedict goes home and sips someDirchan Spiced Mead before returning to Lady Montgomery's aid, and brings along some fresh carrot stew for his lunch

Travis Black read his copy of the Chronicle down on the docks, outside his warehouse, while enjoying a medieval cigar: basically, rolls of leaves, that a number of his fellow sailors and he, had recently taken up the habit of smoking. The article about the riots in Irma was breaking news, but since it didn't affect him directly, (besides the potential temporary alterations to trade routes as a consequence of the naval operations), and since he didn't personally know any of the parties involved, he was reading the article from a somewhat detached perspective. “Probably having an illicit affair with the half-elven commoner,” he thought, concerning D’Morte. He then moved on to the other articles in the Chronicle.

Caleb walked over to his brother and read the article, one of his eyebrows rising at the words "granting of a Barony" and "half-elven." After he finished reading the article, he turned to Geraint "I say that Alexiel overestimates the importance of inferior races. This rather embarrassing episode should show him that he needs to reconsider the Emperors' teachings, and you would be the best to do it." Caleb thought for a moment, and then smiled. "If the Emperors' are with us, perhaps Alexiel will feel gratitude later on for your kindness."

Geraint chuckles lightly at Caleb's bold statement. Dropping the chronicle carelessly upon the floor, he turns to Caleb, a sly smile upon his face. Lifting his hand to his chin and giving his beard a light scratch, Geraint says, with the smile still upon his face, "I have it on... good authority that this minor incursion will be dealt with promptly." Supressing a laugh, he glanced idly around, continuing to speak, "Besides, I'm sure enough people will agree that no longer is he entitled to the role he currently plays. All will be well." Geraint turns, examining the scene that lies before him, before uttering, in a manner rather sly, "You will see."

As Ellenore recieves the letter, she quickly reads it, whilst walking up the marble stairs. 'Occupy..? Did that man even read my letter?!' She hisses, leaning on the small balcony.

'James! Ride out to Leopopd Kade and tell him that I am only wanting to send aid to those poor victims. I have no intention of taking over Irma!'

As ellenore turns around, she Mumbles softly; 'Atleast not yet..'

A knock is heard at the large oak door to his office followed by a soft voice
"My Lord, a notice concerning Ser D'Morte"
"Come in" rowans voice echoed throughout the room without takinghis eyes off the parchment taking the time to dip his quill back into the vile of ink.

A young boy dressed in navy blue robes quickly approached the desk before handing the notice to rowan and departing closing the doors behind him.

Upon receiving the notice rowan would place aside his quill as he looked over the words printed on the parchment before a sly grin came across his face as he thought to himself how sweet this was.

Rowan would continue to grin for a few moments more before shaking his head and placing the notice in the fire place to his right before he returned to his writing.

Zeven Provincien with 8o pieces is generally considered a better ship then The Eendracht with 57 pieces. (Although it was modified for up to 73 later). Then again there is a 10 year time difference between the two. But the Eendracht got blown to smithereens, while the Zeven Provincien survived to be taken appart :P

I should contact Webster's dictionary and tell them to include it. I'm on to something new, something edgy.

~~[From the Desk of Leopold Kade]~~

    Addressed to Countess Ellenore Montgomery;

My job is not to teach you how to interpret semantical implication, for future reference. The presence of any party not under the Empire's direct jurisdiction in a warzone is deemed an occupying force.

I might ask you to address all future mail to the Council Department of Correspondence where it can be sorted and prioritised as opposed to sending a frantic mounted courier directly to my office.

    Good day.
