He uses Shadow Wardrobe to cover himself in black leather, minimally protecting him while allowing range of motion and agility. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ ✮ | [Childhood] - A young Wirtem couple took refuge in the land of Daendroc, embracing the culture and giving birth to four children, along with a dishonorably gained half brother, Rico was the oldest of all his siblings. The family was quite poor, the parents having to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. ✮ | [Teenage Years] - When Rico wasn't assisting his father with work, he was playing his guitar. He mostly did it for his own enjoyment, however sometimes found ways to make coin from it. In exchange for Rico's music, an old mentor taught him how to fight, primarily with a buckler and saber. ✮ | [Adulthood]- Rico spent much of his young adult life before the age of 27 learning to wield his weapons and improving his skills with the guitar. He continued working in hopes of gathering enough money to start a new life elsewhere. ✮ | [Since Arriving to Regalia, What he's doing now] - Rico owned the Vulpi mercenary company, handed down to him by Charles Litvinova, but he's since given it away to pursue his own things. Spoiler: The Long Version Childhood -A young New Regalian couple took refuge in the land of Daendroc. Soon after arriving they changed their family name from Bergmann to Clemente and gave birth to four healthy children. The oldest of the four children was Ulrico Clemente, nicknamed Rico. -Rico’s Family was poor. They had little money and had to work hard for it. His father worked in the coal mines, and his mother was a baker. -Rico and his siblings were often tasked with helping his mother run her bakery or his father work in the mines. However, they would frequently sneak out to play guitar on street corners for coin. -Eventually, Rico gained a half brother just a handful of years younger than him due to his father’s disloyalty to Rico’s mother. Lucian, his half brother, and Rico remain close to this day. Adulthood -Upon reaching adulthood, Rico found himself joining his father in the mines. He spent a lot of his time working there and it wasn’t before long that it engulfed his life. Rico loved playing the guitar, and whenever he wasn’t mining, he was making music. -Working in the mines, Rico met an old man who was a retired swordsman and mercenary. The man also claimed to have been a pirate once, though Rico knew better than to believe such words. He promised to teach some of his skills to him if he were to play guitar for him every night. The old man told him that his uncle used to play the guitar and it reminded him of when he was a child. - Rico agreed, seeing this as a way to make a new life for himself. Every night, he played his guitar for the retired swordsman and studied under him to learn to wield a saber and buckler. This continued for several years until the retired swordsman gave his last breath, handing his prized and long-used weapons off to his student. The old man would become Rico's adoptive grandfather before his passing. -At some point in his life, Rico had heard utterings of work opportunities in an exciting land. Now that he felt he had no reason to stay in Daendroc, Rico made the decision to travel to Regalia and make his own meaning in his life. He knew that if he could not live comfortably, he could not make his music or live a life of excitement. Spoiler: IC Events Rico met Alaric Keen and joined the Ivory Company, eventually working his way up to Lieutenant. This is where he met his friends Eloi and Taeron. Rico attempted, and failed, to kill a Kathar void priestess. Instead, he was kidnapped and tortured. Fun. Rico’s friend Eloi left the Ivory company to become a criminal. Rico and Eloi would lose their friendship for a while and become enemies. Alaric Keen was made a noble. It would become Rico’s primary responsibility to guard Duke Keen during meetings. Rico assisted countless other mercenaries to raid the same Kathar Khaal that had kidnapped him months prior. That must have felt good. Rico began dating Mariona Playero, Eloi’s sister. Apparently, this was a plan to get information on Alaric Keen. Rico was none the wiser. The plan didn’t work because Rico got fired from the Ivory Company for disrespecting Alaric Keen. Being a noble’s personal guard didn’t seem to fit him too well and he let his mouth run wild that day. Rico joined up with the Playero Mercenary company, a front for illegal activities. Yeah, he didn’t do a lot of mercenary work. At one point, Rico got himself infected with vampirism, thanks to meeting a fellow by the name of Mateo Alearretyn. He was consequently caught and cured later. For a period of time, Rico went through multiple girlfriends. That stopped when he met his current partner, Devira. We'll see how long this one lasts him. Rico joined the Vulpi mercenary company, working under Charles Litvinova. He eventually became the leader of said company and ran it for a month or two until its eventual collapse. Seeking new work, Rico lead himself into a life of crime. Rico would express happiness with a gentle smile and relaxed posture. How would your character respond to experiencing Fear? He would respond to fear by fighting it and standing his ground to surpass it. How would your character respond to experiencing Stress? Rico gets a little down when he’s stressed. To circumvent this, he plays his guitar. How does your character view Law and Authorities? Rico does not hold a lot of respect for the authorities, but follows the law for the safety of himself and his family. He does not think the authorities are effective or fair. How does your character feel about Races other than their own? Rico finds himself to be slightly suspicious of Kathar, due to their void worshipping nature. How does your character feel about Religion for themselves, and other faiths? Rico used to have loose Unionist beliefs but lately does not practice Religion or even think about it too often. How does your character feel about the Arcane and Magical in the world? Rico has no particular feelings towards magical and the Arcane. He knows they have their uses. How does your character feel towards their family? Rico is very fond of his family and would do much to protect them. However, he also feels the need to lead his own life. What is your character the most proud of about themselves? Rico is a hard worker and takes much pride in accomplishing difficult tasks. What motivates your character to move forward and better their life? Rico finds motivation in doing the things he most enjoys. He loves to play the guitar. Being able to live comfortably and enjoy his hobby are his greatest desires. What is your character's biggest insecurity? Rico’s biggest insecurity would be that despite coming from Daendroc, his genetic heritage is that of the New Regalians. He doesn’t alway feel as if he is truly a Daendroque man and worries that he may not fit in. What is your character's biggest fear? Rico's biggest fear is living a life that has no meaning. Alrighty, there's just a few minor issues that need to be addressed before I can give this the greenlight: You only receive racial bonuses once you've invested at least 10 points into a skill. You need 10 Instrument Arts minimum before being able to apply your 5 racial bonus, bringing you up to 15. Please invest more into Instrument Arts or correct this. The updated name of Daendroquin is Daendroque, according to the new Linguistics page. Please update. This is less a requirement, but for readability it may help to put Regalia IC Events in Spoilers.
