I know this is something that many people may not be able to relate to but as an African American I'm not fond of seeing any "beasts" being tied to the origin of any dark-skinned races or "sub-human" races. I think this association between dark skinned people and beast related subhuman races is something we could easily do without.

I'm currently going over the wiki as I try to figure out who my character will be, and I'm somewhere between Qadir and Songaskian. What gives me the most pause is accepting being considered "sub-human" as a brown skinned character. I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud but I'm having a conflict of conscience when it comes to this. Is having beasts be part of the origin of Songaskian people intrical to their history and/or identity?

tl;dr: Songaskians are dragons in human form and Ailor will be racist. If you are against this, I recommend skipping rp.

Aloria is supposed to resemble a Medieval-Victorian time. This means nationalism and racism is abundant. Now, that being said, the Songaskian, are no where linked to anything demoralizing in lore.

The Songaskians are suppose to be the descendants of Dragons.

Now this is the general impression as the Red Desert (most likely) Dragons disappeared before the emergence of the Songaskians so it's seen that the Songaskians are just Dragons in human form. This is even further by the removal of Seraph Golden Eyes that links the Songaskians to a human ancestor.

Ailor will be racist, yes, but again, that is the world that Massive is trying to portyral. Ailor believe they are superior to every other race due to their God-right of owning Aloria. If you believe this is wrong, I personally would skip out in rp.

It can get pretty unappealing playing in a world full of racism and hyper-nationalism. Especially if you have to deal with that in real life.

I don't have a problem with the in-world racism at all. I'm just fine with it actually. I was just concerned about the terminology used to describe the Songaskians because it wasn't clear on the relationship between them and "beasts". Thanks for the clarification.

Aside from being descended from Dragons (which is plain cool), the Songeskian and Qadir empower their real-life counterparts very well. The Songeskians are rulers of the strongest, non-demonic/evil empire outside of Regalia, and is Regalia's rival in terms of power. The Qadir are the most technologically advanced race left on the planet, with any competitors dead or crushed thousands of years before, not to forget their amazing eyesight. That's pretty neat, if you ask me.

Qadir best race can't even live w/o clocks.

Meme aside, the Qadir and Songaskian will be oppressed somewhat in Regalia. One group uses dead people to power their devices, the other occupied the city and enslaved individuals a few years back. Each race in lore has their pros and cons. Ailor have the benefit of not being oppressed as much in Regalia, but they are bland af for the most part.

Personally, I don't see the oppressive nature of Regalia impact my Qadir in the slightest. If you accept status quo, you can get by fairly well. Alternatively, the slums are a bit more tolerant, with the downside of having now law enforcement.

I don't think Dragons are diminuitive sub-human beasts. They are pretty cool imo.

The wiki isn't clear on what the "beasts" are. I reread the wiki a few times to try and correct the way I was interpreting it but it never changed how I felt. I never made the connection to dragons. I think some rewording would be helpful.

Dude... It's literally clarified at the bottom of the page.
  • Some theorize the Songaskia are intricately linked to the disappearance of the Red and Black Desert Dragons, hypothesizing that an entire race cannot just appear out of nowhere as an entire Dragon species disappears on the same day.
