Following the retreat of the Xalvador forces to Cote Noir, Xalvador had hoped to use one of his citadels to draw out the Anahera host into a protracted siege. As Xalvador arrived however, the morning brought bad news, Anahera ships were already unloading their troops just further west of his castle. He made what defences he could, leading the defence himself on the high wall. As the Anahera forces approached the walls, it was clear that the battle was going to be an uphill battle. The forces clashed almost immediately, the previous Sangiovese forces surprisingly being led by Alejandro Anahera himself.
The walls fell within an hour, the flood of Anahera forces proved too much for the aged castle that had not been effectively manned for nearly 100 years. The Pileran soldiers eventually retreated to the inner walls, as battle raged from room to room inside the castle. Pileran forces resorted to throwing handsfull of jewelry at their attackers to distract them they fought with tooth and nail, but little effect was gained, the Anahera soldiers could not be held back. Xalvador eventually left with only 10 men, decided one last push out in an attempt to strike down Alejandro who was now relatively close.
As Xalvador ran out with his last men, they falling by his side every step, he ran straight for Alejandro. All he could muster in the end before being hit by a mace in the chest, was to throw his sword at Alejandro. The mace struck hard enough to knock Xalvador down to the ground, after which the rest of the Anahera soldiers held their swords at his neck. The sword did not kill Alejandro, but he did hold his hand on his arm to stop the bleeding. In attempting to sidestep, the sword cut his right arm across his upper arm.
Xalvador was promptly thrown into a prisoner cart and carried back to Alberta, the capital of the Southern Shore Lordship. As Xalvador rode into the city, Alejandro ahead on horse with a glorious dark blue velvet cape, the victory parade was met with silence from the locals. It was uncertain wether the silence was reluctance to accept that Alejandro Anahera had won the war, or shame and disappointment over the quick and shameful defeat of the Pileran forces.
End of the matter remained that Alejandro now held all the cards to dictate his designs on the Pileran lands. He held the heir of the Pileran lands, held Olivia Pileran in custody supporting him, and held the Grand Bijoux Vert.
The end of the Pileran Lordship was announced in Regalia.
