Core Concept

A fall from grace, that's what the Xiao royal family had happen despite all they had built up. All thanks to one person's misstep, one person's inability to keep the peace how it had meant to be. This person was Daisagei's own eldest sister; the woman meant to inherit the title of matriarch whenever their parents had passed. Daisagei, despite his normally anxious nature, moved to a whole new country, a fresh start, just to make his name known once again. To restore grace to the presently forsaken Xiao family. If not to prove something to himself, to prove something to the rest of his world that one bad apple didn't make the rest of them as such.

Appearance Information

An almost average seeming man, that's what Daisagei tried to present himself as. Standing at 5'4, his height was likely something that made him overlooked. His stature was yet another example of such, unfortunately. He had a messy, black undercut that was taken care of, but seriously could not be tamed for some reason. Daisagei's eyes were a light, caramel brown color and seemed to be shaped similar to an almond. Looking further still, you'd notice the moles and scars that dotted his face. A mole above his right eyebrow, one below the left side of his mouth. A light, healed over scar that was on the side of his face as well. How his face was shaped, it was almost akin to a noble's. Fitting for who he had been born to and used to be.

Life Story / Plot Hooks

Slight TW before reading!

Born to those of high status, Heiyan wasn't as treacherous for the newly born Qibai and the rest of his family that were born to this life. He was the second youngest son, with around 5 other siblings that were older than him. Quite a large family already, but it would be even more so if you took into account his parents' families. As such, Qibai was raised around many different people in his childhood.

However, this high status didn't protect him from everything. Qibai learnt this at the age of 4, quite too early from what he wanted. The boy's uncle, a man who hadn't made himself well-known by the rest of the family, a man named Neilang, had presented the child with problems when he had to take care of him. Ranging from verbal downgrading to even physical abuse at some points, Neilang wasn't the kind of man who took too kindly to failures, even to those who were quite younger than he was. This would be seen as normal by most Sihai, at least until the other threats followed. Eventually the man was found out, given a large bruise that he had given Qibai, and eventually just isolated. Never disowned in fear of being looked down upon by the other noble houses of the Zhong kingdoms.

This, alongside his father's neglect of all of his children, caused Qibai to grow distant from his parents and other guardians in the boy's life. But he still tried to do whatever he could to make them proud, even if it meant hurting himself in the end. This was not a good sign, but not many noticed the lengths he had to go to to do this.
Eventually Qibai was sent to a local monastery to learn more of what he had been taught by his mother, who at the time fell ill to where she couldn't do what she used to anymore. The boy was, even from the age of 8, dedicated to what he was thrust into. He took his time to learn about other cultures, but even more about his own religion and such. To the point where he had a series of almost repetitive dreams around the age of 14. Qibai expected these dreams to be of the ones that they were told would be given to them later on, which was quite the surprise to the young Sihai. However it was enough for him to reach out to a local monk about the issue. Even without any knowledge of why Qibai got his dreams this early, the monk, Sun, would have helped him more and more. Thus teaching him what he thought was necessary, up until Qibai was 17.

This was when things started to go south for not only Qibai, but also his family. Swiftly given his courtesy name despite his age as there had been something made aware of to Sun, there was near no explanation to the newly named Daisagei. His eldest sister, a woman by the name of Beihe, had committed a handful of crimes against people that the rest of her family was unaware of until recent. She had been the one that was planned to lead the family, especially after her mother's death, but that had been torn down. A few other children, whether innocent or guilty, were dragged down with Beihe. Eventually decisions were made and the other courts decided that it would be best for the Xiao family to be removed from noble status.

This had messed up Daisagei even more beyond what he had dealt with, but it didn't matter to his sister. The boy had relocated himself elsewhere, running through other nations and such just to find a place to settle down. Eventually he had found out about a city, one that had been declared a haven by others who were like him. A place that dragged him, alongside two other Xiaos, to the place. Starting here, Daisagei was planning, even after two years of being on the run, on making himself a well-respected individual at least here. Maybe in the world wide perspective later down the line too, to bring the Xiao family back to its former glory.
