So I've noticed a trend lately on the forums with rpers kinda shooting down the pvp communitie's suggestions, because they would also slightly affect them in the rare case that they actually pvp. What I am saying mainly is that if the rp community would open up to some fixes that nearly all the pvp community agrees upon, then in turn more pvpers would be drawn to the server, which means more raids and more pvp inside the pvp community. Know what this results in? This results in pvpers having enough actual pvpers to fight, in turn meaning roleplay and build factions that don't want to pvp would be mainly left alone. Thank you.
Also if you are going to try to shoot this down it isn't a suggestion for the server or something like that, it is just something that you should really try.

Well, slightly affect is a different thing than what it actually is. It is more, grandly effect. I for one, like my regals, and having to pay taxes to every faction that tries to get me so that I'll pay outrageous taxes so they can have more land is something I don't want. Therefore, if I ever did find a faction without taxes, I'd still have to place into the fac bank for some of the ideas have been passed around. So, in summary, RPers are right to shoot down faction ideas, because everyone that suggests an idea involves taking outrageous amounts of regals over time to support a very temporary organization.

Lolwut? The only suggestion I've seen involving regale recently is the massive raid thing. Most other suggestions revolve around traits and such, most of which don't really affect rp much.

I've been thinking on a grander scale. The whole two something years I've been here, I've seen some regal based things.

You claim that you like your regals, and blame the pvp/faction community for taking them. However, (in case you forgot) the rp community takes much more regals than any pvp faction in the form of Regalian houses! Honestly, If you like having money in your account, then I suggest you try to earn some regals instead of complaining. Thank you!

Yo.

I marked all the wrong bits in Red.
  • 5 people who self identify as "roleplayers" having hardcore opinions against a suggestion does not constitute as "Rp'ers"
  • Players disagreeing with a forum suggestion does not mean it gets "shot down". Only staff reject or approve an idea.
  • The suggestions that have been made in the past weeks affect roleplayers greatly, punishing them for not defending themselves
  • Magnanimus and allies are not what constitutes "the pvp community". 70 or so odd players do not weigh up to the hypothetical number of people who self identify as pvp'ers whose opinions are not asked for.
  • pvp'ers being drawn to the server inflates already existing pvp factions. When a pvp'er joins they are more inclined to join an already powerful faction or slowly gravitate towards it anyway. It's in fact more likely that factions will continue to bloat and not actually PVP one another like they sort of do now.
  • If having run several factions teaches me anything, pvp'ers like stomping on people who cannot defend themselves, thus the raid frequency would actually probably increase.
  • Suggesting someone tries to do something is still a suggestion.
Note I am in no way against finding incentive to encourage defense of factions. There are other creative methods to incentivise players to defend their factions from raiders that don't involve punishing the defending side and rewarding the attacking side. I'd rather see a model where the raiding faction is taken out of the equation and we purely look at how to give defenders incentive to defend themselves as opposed to forcing them to defend themselves by punishing them if they do not.

I'd like to respectfully request whatever sides of this coin are arguing about, that "people" stop making it a "RP VS PVP" discussion. This sort of rhetoric is inflammatory and downright ignorant. 10 people having an argument with 5 others does not mean the whole community is in the bandwagon. In fact the most players really don't care, given by the participation degree.

On our end we have to evaluate time, effort and cost. Since Cayorion broke his hands and our tech department is crippled, we cannot come up with an intense and complex tech solution. We're still open to discuss any potential ideas in the meantime that do not involve only punishing the defender for not defending themselves but rather making them want to defend themselves with rewards.
