Hello! So I will keep this simple and confined to a few points:

  • Why should we have it: Posting links to share Gyazo screenshots, funny Youtube videos, or relevant material would be beneficial for players trying to spread something. Examples being: Screenshots of a work in progress build to their friends. Links to a Youtube video of a medieval tavern/bard song for someone Roleplaying a Bard. Sharing Minecraft news with factions mates via links to the Mojang site. Etc.
  • Why only Premiums: Obviously the reason we cant post links right now is to avoid spam and trash, and inappropriate content. Limiting this ability to only premium members makes sure the only people with it are probably not going to abuse it.
  • What limits would it have: Links could only be posted in OOC Chat, Announcement Emotes, Private Messages and Mails, and Factions and Ally Chats. This prevents people from spamming links into local etc.
Some system to filter certain words out of links, like 'porn' etc would be good but im not sure its possible. Thats my only aside.

I'm going to support this idea, but make it allowed for any chats.

I would hope players are able to use common sense, and if they break the rules then the punishment is just more severe.

That's really the only issue I have: relying on the players to self moderate. I can't say much since I'm only in local chat, but that's where my concern lies.

Self moderation is always an issue but anyone posting porn or gore into any chats is apt to be reported instantly and perm banned so it should be fine.
 
I might actually suggest starting with only YouTube links, since they have a filter already for inappropriate content.

You can already post links to any forums posts so there might be a system in place to whitelist certain sites already. Doing that with Youtube, Mojang, Minecraft, etc would be a good start.
 
I like it. I have on more than one occasion wanted to link a reference picture of my character during rp.
 
I think this is a good idea for this can assist alot of Bard playing characters or even for references when one is struggling to emote a sort emote actionthey can just send a video for clarity.
 
This conflicts with the EULA I believe so it must be a feature for everyone to use.

If the ability to post a link violates EULA then I think chat delay would be one as well. But it push comes to shove, to circumvent this, a "Banter Chat" esk channel can be added where everyone can post links so Mojang cant say the ability is limited.

Chat is technically a cosmetic in my opinion, as it doesnt affect gameplay itself on a fundamental level.
 
Chat messages don't affect gameplay features, besides typing commands. This shouldn't conflict with the EULA, but I could be mistaken since I haven't read the EULA in some time.
 
While this would initially be a good feature, I'd have to personally disagree with putting it in. Knowing the community, links would lead to Virus', Inappropriate Sites/Videos, etc. While you could say "Just mute/ban that player, then!", the damage is already done. Killing a bear after it bites your arm off won't make it grow back.

Edit: I re-read and saw your reasoning for Only Premium. But IMO, this isn't true. Tons of people who have premium are the type who would do what I stated above.

I read the EULA within the last couple weeks, and I can firmly say that this would not be against the EULA. This does not impact gameplay in a way that would give an edge in PvP or PvE.
