The long and arduous journey southward to Daenshore was one of merriment and high hopes. Trading stories of past honors, Relveth Vinthracia quickly established himself as a well-learnt man, while the Ulster brothers, Rerik and Farod, argued amongst themselves as to their opinions on the ultimate goals of the group. Content to simply be in each other's company, Anthony Aldebrooke and Cassius Monataigu observed their companions from the railing of the guild Windvale's ship. Eager to face the rewards they imagined but unprepared for the dangers to come. Arriving on the coast of Daenshore, the group makes quick progress towards the rumored location of the Elven City Ruin of Esh'enore, positive that wealth and treasures await. As the ruin came into view, they were ambushed by a group of Elven Vagrants who, unsuccessfully, attempt to dissuade them from progressing into their holy site. With a growl of annoyance, Farod Ulster lashed out at the Elves, and although his brother objected to the unnecessary violence, drawing the group into combat. Due to the weakened nature of the starved Elven Vagrants, the fight was a short one. The combined might of the mages and warriors of the explorers made quick work of the Vagrants, and the group stepped intently over their fallen bodies with greed in their gaze. Rerik managed to loot an old Elven Temple Guardian cloak from one of the Elves, thinking it was but a pointless and worthless piece of cloth, he tied it around his waist.

The group finally entered the broken temple after fighting with the Elves, and a mighty temple it was. The walls were still covered in various rotting cloths dating back to the fall of the Elven Empire and golden chalices and plates still littered the floor. Yet there was also something eerily wrong about the place. Every so many yards there were burned cadavers, skeletons seized in agony with golden artifacts in their hands as if trying to reach out to them or having died carrying them out. The group paid little heed to them however, the defeat of the Elves at their hands had lured them into a false sense of superiority over whatever they would face. As Farod veered off the group's course towards the altar to inspect a statue off by the side, the ground around him started humming. The group stopped in their tracks, looking back at him as he was looking towards the floor. All around him lie scattered small pieces of obsidian shards and rocks that started vibrating and rolling around on the floor. Relveth stepped closer raising his torch to get a better look, but by the time it dawned on him what was occurring, it was already too late. His mouth opened to yell at Farod to get away, but before any sound could come out a Petralyth formed itself through the rubble around Farod, hitting him with various shrapnel of sharp obsidian shards, both knocking him back and causing scratches and cuts all over his body. The Petralyth lit up the entire temple as large as it was, nearly the size of a tree and snakelike with a body made of violent electricity holding together pieces of stone. It dawned on the rest now that the corpses around them were explorers and adventurers who had been electrocuted to death by the Petralyth. Relveth used the few seconds that it took the Petralyth to form to remember what he read about them: Petralyths are the embodyment of ancient Seraph conduit magic, twisted and corrupted by Void Essences to become some vile guardian of ancient temples and magical places of worship. They are violent and cannot be reasoned with, attacking any living being due to the twisted hatred forced into the otherwise docile magical essences through the Void. Relveth's thought process was disturbed by Anthony's cowardly scream as he ran straight out of the temple abandoning the group to the Petralyth. Relveth ran to the other side of the room as he yelled to the others "Ground your weapons, Rerik try using explosives to disrupt its physical form, you cannot harm it with weapons don't even try!" Cassius responded promptly by tying his sword to a rope and swinging it overhead like an improvised lightning rod. Rerik grabbed a couple of satchel explosives from his bag. Together with Cassius acting as the lightning deflector, Rerik inched closer to the Petralyth which was now erratically moving through the air in the large temple, occasionally sending out out lightning shocks which hit the sword or the area around them. Relveth started casting magic, lightning shocks, to try and weaken the Petralyth, which seemed to work for a moment. This afforded Rerik the time he needed to aim his bombs, tossing them at the Petralyth. The explosion and subsequent smoke filled the ceiling of the temple, the whole building shook and parts of the Petralyth collapsed and fell to the floor. Relveth yelled at the top of his lungs to be louder than the rubble falling "Run you fools, we cannot fight this!". Rerik and Cassius quickly paced to Farod who had just regained consciousness, helping him up, after which the three ran out of the temple after Relveth. Behind them the Petralyth could be heard calling out like the echoes of a sea whale howling in the fog, Relveth knew it was reforming. They continued running until the Temple was well behind them.

With a visual sight of the ruin fading behind them, the group breathed a sigh of relief, unaware that they had not yet escaped the clutches of the magic beast determined on ending them for disturbing its sanctuary. Farod, having fallen behind, was knocked to the side as the rubble launched from the Petrylyth's chase was sent flying into the half-Orc, breaking two of his ribs as he struggled to maintain consciousness. With the beast's electricity crackling in the air, it closed in to claim Farod's life. Hurling his last few bombs from behind the creature, Rerik charged in, determined to not let his brother be left in the clutches of the Petralyth. Distracted and incapacitated for the time being, Relveth and Cassius made it to safety with ease, catching up with and reprimanding the coward Anthony. The three encouraged Rerik to make haste as he supported his partially unconscious brother out of the broken city gates just in time to hear the beast's roar as it sparked and pawed at the ground. Floating backwards with a glowing body still aimed at the group as if it was tempted to pursue them further, but Relveth knew it could not and the group slowly made their way back to Daenshore to return to their ship.

With the group safely back on the ship and Farod getting his wounds tended to by Anthony, who sort of redeemed himself by doing so for abandoning the group earlier. The shock of meeting face to face with a Petralyth and surviving still hadn't quite settled in, and the group certainly had a tale to tell when they returned to Regalia, even if they didn't have any physical proof to provide that they had actually fought one, and their only loot being a pointless and worthless cloth of a Temple Guardian Order which the group effectively broke down, what was left of it anyway.
