As Ive begun working on the Faction Lore Preservation Project (click here), I've found that lots of useful information is hidden behind the wall of archived posts. Sevak has been given the go ahead to look up posts for us, but giving the entire memberbase of this project access to the archives would allow us to make a much more accurate timeline and preserve this information for years to come. For those that agree, feel free to leave a vote above. Thanks

Without this feature my famous Aloria History post cannot link to much needed historical documents and war posts! I vote YES!

I honestly don't know why they were archived other than to prevent necro posting or to prevent new users from being confused. even as a mostly rper, there are a few forum threads that have been archived that have been extremely helpful even in modern times. I'd be in favor of getting some threads out of the archives for the sake of history research.

Are they hidden or gone? Like has Sevak been able to find them? Cuz I believe in the August forum move some stuff was deleted.

Sevak said that most of the stuff should still be archived, its just a matter of someone who CAN unarchive them, unarchiving them.

They aren't so much archived as they are moved to an invisible node to keep the forums clean. The only threads that routinely get deleted are character apps. Everything else is generally stored. It's possible to make a public archive as long as everyone understands that the posturing in those threads represents a different atmosphere and is not reflective of current attitudes.

Oh definitely, the main purpose would just be to document the history of the server.

I completely agree with you, out of curiosity what do you mean by "current attitudes"

It's a stab in the dark what's in there, both statements made by players in the past that could be embarrassing, but also statements made by staff that are not reflective of present day attitudes. If I unlock it into an archive section, it'll probably have a disclaimed to clarify that the content there-in was present in a "different server environment" and whatever anyone may find that may be damaging to something in present day, should not necessarily reflect on current attitudes. For example, I said something 4 years ago that keeps getting parroted even though I don't agree with that sentiment anymore. I'm not going to filter through thousands of threads to keep my opinions up to date, so it'll just have to come with a disclaimer.

Fair enough! Thank you for taking the time to give this consideration, it really means allot to the faction community :)
